SYNOPSIS ON WELFARE MEASURES IN AN ORGANIZATION

Introduction: Welfare includes anything that is done for the comfort and improvement of employees and is provided over and above the wages. Welfare helps in keeping the morale and motivation of the employees high so as to retain the employees longer duration. Employee welfare includes monitoring of working conditions creation of industrial harmony through infrastructure for health, industrial relations and insurance against disease, accident and unemployment for the workers and their families. Labor welfare describes all the activities of employer, which are directed towards providing the employees with certain facilities and services in addition to wages and salaries. Welfare measures involve three major aspects, which are occupational health care, suitable working time and appropriate salary. It refers to the mental, moral and emotional wellbeing of an individual. The safe work environment provides the basis of the person to enjoy welfare. The work should not pose a health hazard for the person. The welfare measures aim at integrating the socioPsychological needs of the employees, the unique requirements of a particular technology, the structure and process of the organization and the existing sociocultural environment. It creates a culture of work commitment in the organizations and society of work, which ensures higher productivity and greater job satisfaction to the employees. The Welfare measures are defined in the same way as defined by the I.L.O at the Asian Regional Conference A term which is understood to include such facilities services and amenities as may be established in or in the vicinity of the undertakings to enable the persons employed in them to perform their work in healthy conditions and to provide them with amenities conclusive to good health and high morale Due to welfare measures, the employees for the management is interested in taking care of the employees that the results in the sincerity, commitment and

loyalty of the employees towards the organization. The employees work with full of enthusiasm and energetic behavior, which results in the increase in production and ultimately the increased profit. The measure of welfare gives results after a long period of time. It is a long process, so the management has to keep patience while providing the welfare measures for the employees. The management has to do discussions with the persons who are now going to avail the facilities. The Communication increases the cohesiveness between the management and the employees and their industrial relations improve. Objectives of the study: Objects of the study specify the reasons for carrying out the study in the organization. The following are the objectives: 1) To get an idea about the organizational structure of the industry. 2) To have a clear idea about the profile of the organization 3) To know the welfare measures taken up and implemented by the organization 4) To suggest proper measures for the better working of the employees. 5) To observe whether the employees are satisfied or not with the welfare measures of the organization.

Scope: In this project done on Welfare Measures an attempt is made to elicit the opinions and suggestions of various employees towards the welfare measures adopted and implemented by the organization. Need for the study:

Welfare work aims at providing such service facilities and amenities which enable the workers employed in industries or factories to performs their in a healthy, Congenial surrounding conducive to good health and high morale. As the public sectors are considered as the organ of the government, the development of the country depends on these sectors. They provide better Welfare Measures to their employers for their efficient working than those of the private enterprise. Keeping in view the above backdrop, this attempt to study the Welfare Measures and their implementation has been made. The main aim of this study is to evaluate the importance given to the measures taken for the welfare of the employees. Methodology: The methodology is adopted to study the welfare amenities which will be a result oriented. The analyzed information will be collected from the HRD Officials of the organization. The information from the employees will be collected in the observations on their working conditions and situations during visits in various places of the organization. The approach in research of the project will be in 1) Primary data 2) Secondary data Primary data: Primary data includes collection of data from the employees and management staff through well designed Questionnaire, observation and interview. Secondary data: Secondary data has been gathered from the reports, journals from the records maintained by the concerned departments.
