style, in doing so they will explore the composition, subject matter, lighting, concept, and/or mood of their
chosen photographer. Students will use proper camera techniques and darkroom procedures to expose a roll
of film and make 3 final 5” X 7” prints that represent the best of their roll.
You must include the negatives, a contact sheet, and 3 prints with test strips along with this
rubric.
2. What interested you about your master artist’s work? Explain what you feel the artist was trying to do both
formally and conceptually.
3. What inspiration did you take from your master artist or how are your photos recognizable as being inspired
from your master photographer? (Composition, subject, lighting, point of view, etc.) Be as specific as
possible!
4. What do you feel works specifically well in your prints? Justify and explain why you feel the image
“works” in that area and how it helps the overall concept/composition. (i.e. contrast, values,
composition, concept, presentation, etc.)
5. What do you feel could have been improved upon? (i.e. contrast, values, composition, concept, presentation,
etc.) How do you think you could have accomplished this?
6. How have you used the principles of composition or other knowledge from the first shooting assignment?
