THE OTHER SIDE OF GOOD THINGS SHOULD BE STUDIED AS WEL

The universe is inextricably and interdependently shared by animate and inanimate creatures found in the celestial, terrestrial, and aquatic. Humans, who are terrestrial by nature, have successfully manipulated other creatures in the other realms due to their ingenuity to their advantage(?), which is now turning co-existence into a nightmare. Will man ultimately annihilate himself with his innumerable discoveries? Indeed, it remains absolutely true that mans extrinsic and intrinsic behavior towards his world since creation has been enormously beneficial such as in technology, agriculture, education, energy generation and consumption, mining, urbanization, and spiritual developments, yet the pending doom that has emerged out of these are frankly startling when the other sides of these activities are critically examined. These are seen in our climate change with its attendant ramifications, deforestation, terrorism(actually barbarism), colonization, slavery, unemployment, and etcetera. The significance of contemporary technology developed by man is that it has virtually permeated every fabric of human existence thereby improving on his quality of life. It has enhanced his relative closeness to other creatures for the purpose of striking a balance between his activities and the environment. This is laudable. Thus, it is increasingly becoming much easier, for instance, to handle current medical issues with ease than over 2000 years ago. The transport system, business matters, information transfer, effective communication, fashion, architecture, etc. are among the structures recent technology has greatly bettered for the benefit of mankind and the ecosystem in general. Agriculture has been mans major means to sustain him. The economy of most countries has been built on agriculture. It is a known fact that mans food, clothing, and shelter revolve around his agricultural produce and its by-products, making it about the mainstay of human activity. Just imagine a world without it! As knowledge increases the activities of man have geometrically increased alongside. Education has become such a large industry thereby putting man on edge with unsatisfying quest to not only know more but do extra. Education as an industry has engaged billions of people in profitable services. Certainly, the beneficial aspects of education are obvious and indubitably one of mans most engaged area. The impact of the education sector on human activities and mans relationship to the environment is distinguishable. Man, it is said, is not only physical but spiritual. This disposition has abated and aided the proliferation of human ideologies that have become known as creeds of our current world. The spiritual dimension of the world has engaged other billions of people under different titles, portfolios, and reward, which are distributed among the faithful in their hierarchy. There have been some benefits in this engagement too such as reduction in unemployment and an improved health obtained from certain drills often exhibited. However, mans intensified dealings and ineffectiveness on the sophisticated world are becoming progressively more dreadful to the corporate existence of the world. For instance, our technological developments are defiantly becoming mans dead trap. It will worth to appreciate that the technological expansionism principle is confronted by extremely poor e-waste management. The continual increase in the replacement market of microchips in developed countries, the penetration of sales of these technological parts, components or whole into developing nations where there is significant ignorance as to how these components may be managed, and the high rate of most technological materials becoming obsolete with no adequate disposable information, have indeed placed a dangerous threat to the health of the consumers thereof and the world. It has been suggested

that by 2050, e-waste will virtually reach an insurmountable level globally. What shall then become the fate of man and his environment? Additionally, religion is meant to enhance peace, tolerance, safety, assurance, and healthy co-existence among adherents, non-affiliate, and the conservation of the environment. Conversely, our world is witnessing a different ball game altogether. It is ridiculous to note that vast lands have been accrued and turned uninhabitable for religious reasons. Religion has also substituted virtues with subversion, subjugation, enslavement, torture, inhumanity, and even death, with certain awkward effects on the ecological unit. The amount of weapons being used in the religious cycle to promote, coerce or lure the unwary is becoming a serious issue. It has been estimated that over 80% of the ongoing global war, conflicts, and crises are religion-based, with deleterious effects on the environment. The chains of death occurring around the globe due to terror(actually barbaric) attacks on the innocent and vulnerable individuals are alarming, leaving the world with the question: who and what is safe? Yet again, the garbage resulting from these weapons of war, including landmines, have immensely affected the environment. Current events in Sudan, Syria, Bahrain, Yemen, Egypt, Nigeria, Pakistan, Indonesia, etc. are instances at hand. While these last, man is spelling his ultimate kismet at the expense of his environment. Although agriculture has been a fundamental activity of man since time immemorial, its continued expansion through the application of modern technology has thumped hard on man and the environment. Due to population increase, there had been dire need to clear new areas for further agricultural purposes thereby introducing instability in the ecosystems of such places. Overgrazing has always been another issue the agriculturist faces as it is a practice where animals, as sources of needful proteins and clothing to man, are reared. This has encouraged deforestation with its negative repercussion. The use of fertilizers over the years has influenced the status of the environment and even what man feeds on, thereby destabilizing the interdependent ecological unit. Chemicals in form of pesticides and herbicides have been used against the existence of other members of the bionetwork and hence risking the co-existence of the universe. The overdependence of man on agriculture has virtually turned him against the environment he lives in, leading up to his possible extinction in the near future as technology is increasingly used to achieve much with little It is estimated that greater than 60% of mans and some animals foods are inorganic. These are health hazards to the consumers thereof. Furthermore, while education has indeed influenced the world objectively and subjectively, out of the same industry has surfaced colonization, corruption, slavery, oppression, repression, environmental disaster, and even death. It is in full glare that the current worlds educational level is comparably higher that it was 100 years ago, yet, the world seems to be more vulnerability to self-destruction than how it was then! Man has become eminently helpless to save the environment he depends upon despite his current educational level. For example, most of the weapons of mass destruction now within reach, including nuclear materials hazardous to both man and the environment, have been innovated, created, and made available by the societys literate individuals who turn out to be the general public elites. Colonization remains topmost in some unenlightened countries as these are often subjected to certain forms of molestation by the enlightened nations before they are recognized or considered for a favour. This has again intensified animosity between the affluent and the poor with a frightening tendency to explode. All the sophisticated weapons now in the streets are produced by the educated, usually from the developed countries. The drug and human trafficking having damaging effect on man and his environment is handled by the literate. Other ills now being promoted by the educated include prostitution, child abuse, etc. The intrinsic worth and demerits of the education industry are obvious and run at a par, with the latter taking the lead in near future unless the trend is halted.

Urbanization, deforestation, mining, population explosion, widening gap between the opulent and those in penury, and energy consumption have insolently increased due to augmented human demands to attain new age living. The ensuing effects of these include air, water, and land pollution, with the associated health and extra problems that affect both man and the bionetwork; global warming due to climate change, which often presents itself in unpredictable weather changes with flood affecting vulnerable places, agricultural lands and human habitats are also destroyed as sea levels rise , and damage to fertile areas by incessant rainfall; and the absolute imbalance the bionetwork as a result of these human deliberate activities. If it is true that enormously large creatures such as dinosaurs have become extinct due to weather fluctuations alone, then the hope of the survival of man on this universe is slim in a few centuries ahead! In summary, humans have influenced the world very positively since inception through increased activities over the years leading to newer inventions made possible by modern technology. Nevertheless, the ecosystem is under severe attack by continued actions and inactions of man. This imbalance is surely tilting in disfavor of man leaving one to ask: will the environment be destroyed too soon should human activities continue at the current pace? The moribund of the ecosystem is mans disaster as well.
