Brief Idea: A servo motor internally has a closed loop feedback system that enables precise control of the position of the shaft of the motor. It also has a gear mechanism to generate torque. The servo can lift a 6kg load to a height of 1cm from the shaft consuming approximately 6v at 750 mA.

The operation of the arm is controlled with servo motors using 12 keys on the key pad The arm is divided into base, shoulder, elbow, wrist and grip. The base drives the servo motor for left and right rotation. The shoulder is used for up and down movement. Wrist movement is controlled by the servo motor fed by the PWM signal. Grip is controlled by two servo motors which gives 180 degree rotation in both clockwise and anti clockwise direction.

It is capable of moving a load of up to 100 grams up to a distance of 35cm. A key pad is connected to the micro-controller to manually control the motion of different parts of the arm.
