Animal Phylum Poster/Display Project

Project Due Date:

Your group will be assigned a major group of animals to research, and you will create a poster or display to help explain the group of animals to the class. Be sure to first read your textbook on the group as well as research and discuss before you put your information on your poster. You will decide on 7-11 essential vocabulary words that you want each of your classmates to know about this animal group and write a one page worksheet (multiple choice, fill in the blank, cross word, etc.) for your classmates to practice before the test. You will be graded primarily on content, creativity, and delivery of your information. The entire project is worth 150 points. You will have 3 class time to work with your group, so do some research at home and allocate the responsibilities among yourselves. However, if you delegate jobs, make sure to check each others work and information to ensure their correctness You will need to include a list of resources (where you got your information) on the back of your poster. You will be required to present your animal group to the class including the following information: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. name/names of group with major divisions and example organisms reproductive habits, growth and development body plan/symmetry tissues and cell specialization feeding mechanisms and digestion body coverings (skin) methods of respiration

I used a strong attention-getting device. I used words that the audience could understand. The information I gave was valuable and accurate. I was well-informed on my topic. I presented information that others didn't know. I was able to answer questions from the audience.

Delivery

My body language was alert and relaxed. My voice varied in pitch. It was not monotone. I used notes sparingly. I didn't hesitate or lose my place. I didn't use filler words (e.g., uhm, uh, ah, like, mm). I maintained good posture. I spoke to the entire audience, not just one or two people.

Organization

I organized ideas in a meaningful way and WAS NOT REPETITIVE. My topic was stated clearly in the introduction. I included necessary background information. Ideas flowed logically from one point to the next.

Presentation Aids

Presentation aids were used during the speech. Presentation aids enhanced the speech or helped people remember the main points. Visual aids were easy to read or see. Handouts and/or visual aids contained no spelling or grammar errors.

Resources

I cited my resources using the prescribed format. A bibliography was available for the audience members. I put things in my own words.
