Khalid Hussain Channa has 11 years of Demonstrated Development Experience with Exceptional Knowledge of Education, Social Welfare, Community Development, Relief and Rehabilitation. Khalid Hussain Channa who was highly influenced during his early age by English poets and prose writers did his Masters degree (English literature) in 1999 from University of Sindh, Jamshoro Sindh. Later in 2005 he did his Masters degree in Education from Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur Mirs Sindh. Doing masters in English was his love for studying literature and second Masters degree in Education was his career. Studying English literature encouraged him to bring his talent out for the sake of public awareness on the one hand and educate native town fellows about the English language on the other hand. He continued teaching at Sachal Saro Sach English Tuition which he started in 1994 as a chairman. Besides teaching, He launched Sachal Mag the first ever English language magazine in the remote area like Shahdadkot and became his first editor. The magazine is being published and largely circulated in entire Sindh since 2001. For a person like him this was not enough. He always struggles for making his native town mates to flourish on national level and compete for every position for the best of their nation. Mr. Channa always comes up with creative thoughts based on greater utility. In 2012, He started Sindhi Medium (while English as a compulsory subject) Private School. He administrated Darya Khan Public School Shahdadkot as a Principal from 2001 tom 2002. He became chairman of Sachal Saro Sach educational Society (NGO) Shahdadkot from 2000 to 2002. He was elected as president of Sindh Graduates association (SGA) Shahdadkot from 2002 to 2004. Currently he is as Head of Department HoD (English) at Government Degree College Shahdadkot. He is Project Manager Humanitarian Aid, Rehnuma health and Educational Society Shahdadkot, Sindh. Khalid Hussain Channa is General Secretary of Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association (SPLA) District Kamber Shahdadkot, Sindh. Currently he is teaching at Institute of Education Shahdadkot branch of Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur Mirs to B.Ed and M.Ed Students in the evening.

Birth & Family Background


Khalid Hussain Channa was born on 18th January 1977 at Shahdadkot, District Larkana, Sindh Pakistan. His father Abdul Karim Channa was a shopkeeper. He had a handmade leather shoe shop in Shahi Bazzar Shahdadkot. Allah Dino Channa, the grandfather of Khalid Hussain Channa, was a leather seller. His forefathers belonged to village Balocho UC Khaber Taluka Miro Khan. Later on they migrated towards Garhi Sher Muhammad Naitch near Dost Ali Taluka Kamber. After passing few years this family shifted to village Karira, 4 Kilometers in the south east of Shahdadkot. Ali Nawaz Khan Khuhawar brought 20 households of this family to village Ghaibana near Shahdadkot and made arrangements for their stay on his land. At the great flood disaster of 1942 these poor families remained there even in high waves of Indus River Waters. Allah Dino Channa was a pious man. He had two sons Ali Sher and Abdul Karim and two daughters called Anwer Khatoon and Mai Khanul. Allah Dino Channa died in 1990s. Abdul Karim Channa got married with his cousin Ayesha Begum in 1960s. She bore him two sons Khalid Hussain and Abdul Razzaque and four daughters called Yasmeen, Irshad Begum, Rabia Parveen and Abida Parveen. Abdul Karim Channa went to Saudi Arabia twice for performing Haj and earned his bread. There he remained for several years working in the Arab oasis.

Ali Sher Channa, son of Allah Dino and brother of Abdul Karim was a business and smart man. He received education from Madeji/ Shikarpur and was notable in the area due to his intelligence, sense of humor and art of business. He died in 1980s and left two sons named Nisar Ahmed and Ahmed Ali. Both of the brothers died in Hepatitis and left their sons Zaffer Ali and Muhammad Ramzan. Abdul Karim and Ali Sher Channa also died in Liver failure. Childhood From his very childhood, young Khalid Hussain Channa developed the habit of stem independence and selfreliance. He sold Water balloons, Photos, Toffees and edibles for children. He spent savings on books, pencils and clothing and the rest of the amount gave to his mother for small house expenses. Khalids family was very sad. His father passed away in liver failure in 2000. This sad event in life made Khalid more serious and sensitive. He took charge of his house and made arrangements for his brother and sisters education. He labored a lot and worked at Karam Medical Store to support his family. He worked there from 1992 to 1995 for 3 years. His monthly salary was PKR 400/ to 500/- at that time. Academics He got his early education from Government Mehran Primary School Shahdadkot. He was inspired by Mr. Abdul Haque Silro while learning lessons in the school. He took admission in Government (Prov :) Boys High School Shahdadkot and passed Matriculation in 1992. Mr. Sikander Ali Sianch, Mr. Wazeer Ali Mangi and Mr. Ashfaque Hussain Sheikh were his ideal teachers in High School days. He took active part in 7 days Campoori organized at Jacobabad, Sindh in 1992. This Campoori was organized by Government of Sindh. It is the year when he started moving around different historical and cultural places of Shahdadkot with his classmate and friend Sheikh Javed Ali Sindhi. It developed his power of thinking and love to culture and natural beauty. After passing Matriculation he put in an application for admission to Government Boys Degree College Shahdadkot. During college days he developed himself in different subjects and started loving English literature. Mr. Narayendas Khiani, Mr. Abdul Latif Silro and Syed Gul Muhammad Shah Bukhari were his favorite teachers in the college. Following is his academic record;

Life in University of Sindh Khalid Hussain Channa got admission in University of Sindh Jamshoro Sindh in 1998. During his stay at the University, he keenly developed habits of reading more books, establishing friendship with literary figures and finally received his Masters Degree in English Literature in 2000. During university life he was highly impressed by his teachers namely Mr. Abdul Ghani Sheikh, Madam Nargis Qazi, Mr. Ghulam Ali Buriro, Mr. Asif Ali Suhag, Dr. Rafique Memon, and Dr. Muhammad Khan Sangi. He learnt from them about English Prose and Poetry, love, respect and humanity. He along withAbdul Jabbar Bhatti and some other friends played active role in raising PKR 7000/- relief fund from different hostels for 1998 Badin flood disaster affectees. He handed over the entire amount to Madam Amar Sindhu for the timely assistance to the flood affected people of that area. He spent Happy New Year night of 2000 at Bhit Shah in the Mausoleum of Hazarat Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai along with his university friends. He prayed there for his family, friends and prosperity and dignity of Sindh and the rest of world. He frequently visited Sindhi Language Authority, Institute of Sindhology and Mumtaz Mirza Auditorium along with Mumtaz Khokhar and Abdul Jabbar Bhatti to attend literary activities and programmes. Khalid Hussain Channa widely toured Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin and Karachi areas during his life in University of Sindh.

With the Sindh Nationalists, Scholars, Educationists, Academics, Poets & Writers Khalid Hussain Channa was in the company of Bhira Nazir Ahmed Dinari when he started traveling different villages and towns of Upper Sindh for getting herbal medicines as he had been a patient of Liver in early youth. In 1991 when he was student of 9th class when he accompanied Bhira Nazir Ahmed Dinari and went to Kahirpur Natan Shah District Dadu, Sindh to meet a Faqir Ghulam Hussain Burdi, local Hakim there. Khalid Hussain Channa learnt words of wisdom from this place. He spent there two nights and moved on to see Sain G.M.Syed in his residence at Sann. G.M.Syed was the founder of Sindh Awami Mahaz, which went on to join the National Awami Party (National Peoples Party). Like Ibrahim Joyo, G.M. Syed blended Sindhi Nationalism with Communism and Sufism through the ideas of Gandhi and Marx. Khalid learnt Nationalism and Sufism from this meeting. He also met with Dr. Dur-eShahwar Syed (1993), Rasool Bux Palijo and Dr. Qadir Magsi on different occasions. He also did meetings with Abdul Wahid Areesar, Syed Jalal Mehmood Shah, Dr. Dodo Maheri, Bashsir Khan Qureshi, Riaz Chandio, Sirai Qurban Khuhawar, Dr. Niaz Kalani, Ruplo Choliyani, Sarkash Sindhi and Zakhmi Chandio. He actively participated in the seminars, conferences and rallies taken out for the issues and concerns of motherland Sindh. Discovering Spiritualism through Sufism According to historians Sufism or Taawwuf (Arabic) is defined by its adherents as the inner, mystical dimension of Islam. A practitioner of this tradition is generally known as a Sufi. Another name for a Sufi is Dervish. Classical Sufi scholars have defined Sufism as "a science whose objective is the reparation of the heart and turning it away from all else but God". Alternatively, in the words of the Darqawi Sufi teacher Ahmad Ibn Ajiba, "A science through which one can know how to travel into the presence of the Divine, purify one's inner self from filth, and beautify it with a variety of praiseworthy traits. Sufism is a mystic and ascetic movement which originated in the Golden Age of Islam, from about the 9th to 10th centuries. Khalid Hussain Channa is also inspired by Sufism and its Philosophy. He has learnt respect, love and brotherhood message from various Muslim shrines in Sindh, Balochistan and Punjab. He is also blessed with the company of Sakhi Dr. Qabool Muhammad Farooqi .The list of Sufi shrines visited by him is given as under; Hazrat Qalander Lal Shahbaz Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, Hazrat Sachal Sarmast, Hazrat Data Ganj Bux Hazrat Sakhi Sarwar, Hazrat Bedil Faqir, Hazrat Qalander Bux Hisbani, Hazrat Mian Ghulam Siddique Mekan Hazrat Syed Hakim Ali Shah. He also paid a visit to Sassui Punhoo Shrine in Vindur Valley Balochistan. He loves Sufi music. He believes that these Sufi shrines are the centers of peace, love and universal brotherhood. Foundation of Educational Institutions in Shahdadkot In 1994, he established Sachal Saro Sach English Tuition Centre in Shahdadkot. More than this Bright Future English Classes, Insan Hamdard Sangat and Sijawal Khan Wadho were also providing tuition to the students of Shahdadkot at the same time. This institution is flourishing to this date and Khadim Hussain Bhatti, madam Amirzadi Brohi and Shah Zaman Khoso are teaching there. Nearly 10,000 male and female students have benefited from this institution from its beginning to this day. He established Darya Khan Public School Shahdadkot in April 2011. This building was consisted on 8 rooms and it had a regular attendance of nearly 700 students at the peak times.31 male and female teachers used to teach here. This was the main development in his life. He produced a great number of qualitative and intelligent students from both institutes. Some of them have reached on tops. Career/ Government Employment Khalid Hussain Channa qualified Competitive Examination for Lecturer through Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) in 2002 and was appointed as Lecturer in English on 24th April 2002. He started teaching English in Government Degree College Shahdadkot. One of his best achievements is to have arranged successfully an English Drama The Counts Revenge (Originally written by Alexander Dumas 1844) at Government Degree College Shahdadkot in 2003. He has also arranged Talent Awards Show at Government Girls College Shahdadkot, witnessed by MNA Ramesh Lal. He also established Roshan Tara Baalak Melo (Children Festival), inaugurated by MPA Mir Nadir Ali Khan Magsi at Government Girls High School Shahdadkot on Monday 30th November 2009. This historical event was organized by Sindh Graduates Association (SGA) Shahdadkot. Round about 5000 boys and girls visited this festival. More than 20 different Academic, Scientific as well as Cultural and Historical Stalls were displaced on the occasion. Different competitions were arranged in which students of various Governments as well as Private Institutions took active part. He also organized an event on NFC Award in which Dr. Kaiser Bengali (Advisor to Chief Minister of Sindh) delivered his lecture in 2010. Abdul Wahid Soomro had written an article on the life and works of Professor Khalid Hussain Channa in different newspapers. Personal Life Khalid Hussain Channa married his cousin Amina Parveen Channa in 2001. She belonged to Madeji/Shikarpur. She bore him 2 children 1) Fakhira Batool and 2) Muhammad Taha Hussain. His height is 5.7 feet and weighs 82 Kilograms. One of his close friends and companions are Sikander Ali Sheikh, Imdad Silro, Qurban Mangi, Madam Imtiaz Mangi and Abdul Jabbar Junejo. His favorite colors are White and Pink.

He has penned down 100 pages on Education .He has also authored a Travelogue named Vindur Jo Safar (A Journey through Vindur Valley Balochistan), 2010. It was a 3 days travel towards Sasui-Punhoon shrine along with his 8 friends on Motorcycles. Khalid Hussain Channa is highly influenced by English, Russain and Indian writers. His favorite writers are G.M.Syed, Amar Jalil, Abdul Wahid Areesar, Syeda Noor -ul-Huda Shah and Sheikh Javed Ali Sindhi.He likes poetry of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, William Wordsworth, John Keats, Robert Browning, Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal, Mirza Ghalib, Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Sheikh Ayaz, Ustad Bukhari, Ustad Peeral Kamber, Rukhsana Preet Chanar and Zamir Kharal. Khalid Hussain Channa has done literary meetings with Dr. Nabi Bux Khan Baloch, Abdul Qadir Junejo, Inam Sheikh, and Amar Sindhu. He met Vimi Sandargani, an Indian literary figure in 2006 at Beach Luxury Hotel Karachi, Sindh from SGA Platform. She was on her tour to attend Shah Sachal Sami Conference in Pakistan. Strengths & Weaknesses Khalid Hussain Channa is persistent and religiously moderate. He is politically resolute and a persuasive orator. Besides this he is also a good manager. One of his best strength or quality is to remain a studious teacher of Sindh. That is why he is continuously struggling for a better educational atmosphere in the province. According to some people he is hard to be easily socialized but time has taught him to work in team with care & love for others now.

Vision & Dreams


Professor Khalid Hussain Channa considers his male and female students as his own children. He thinks them as his own sons, daughters and brothers. According to him Love is the name of restlessness while Sex is the name of brutality in humanity. His vision is to strive for establishing exemplary educational institutions in Sindh. Though he is alone and helpless yet he is quite hopeful to see his dream fulfilled.
