DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRONICS AND COMMUNICATION TITLE: MENTOR: TRAIN ACCIDENT PREVENTION SYSTEM Dr.T.SURESH, Professor, ECE Dept., R.M.

K Engineering College.

I. THE BUSINESS Service Generally train accidents occur when two trains travel on the same track. In such a case, a device needed to identify the train in the same track and effectively avoid collision. The Vibrations caused on the rails due to the movement of train can be utilized to detect the approaching train in the same track. The Technology behind the Product of the Service This project takes use of the concept of vibrations travelling through metals. High sensitive sensors are used to detect these vibrations .These vibrations which travel as waves through metals for very long distance in terms of kilometers. Vibration sensors fixed at the bottom of the chassis of both the train helps to process these vibrations analyzing their amplitude ,frequency and strength. Based on the DOPPLER EFFECT these parameters are processed using microcontroller to determine the velocity, acceleration and the distance of the forth coming train on the same track. Possible Innovation at a Later Stage In the present existing system, the circuit method is followed where circuit is closed when the train travels in a particular track and it informs the station master and it takes time for the station master to alert the train engineer and failure rate is very high in this. But this project effectively overcomes this long process and immediately alerts the train engineer directly and effectively stops accident. Scalability At present this system can effectively detect the vibrations of another train on the same track before 2 kilometers, this could be expanded to 8-10 kilometers and it will be helpful for the one of d train to change its track. The Market (The Size of the Market and its Growth Potential) This system once implemented will be very useful for the railway transportation to serve the people with safe train journey.
