CURRICULUM
The Colorado Academy of Veterinary Technology offers small classes only 5 to 15 students per class. You will gain hands on skills that allow you to aid veterinarians as you deliver essential medical services to dogs, cats, horses, and exotic animals. Quarter 1: Algebra, Biology, Chemistry, Technology, Business Management, English. Veterinary
Quarter 2: Medical Terminology I, Anatomy and Physiology I, Basic Nursing. Quarter 3: Medical Terminology II, Anatomy and Physiology II, Medical Mathematics. Quarter 4: Parasitology, Microbiology, Pharmacology. Quarter 5: Hematology, Clinical Pathology, Exotic Animal and Laboratory Animal Nursing. Quarter 6: Advanced Nursing, Radiology, Dentistry. Catalog: The CAVT catalog is available online at http://www.coloradovettech.com. Job Placement: The CAVT maintains career placement assistance for all graduates. Career opportunities are available in private practice, the federal government, military, educational institutions, industry, research, and medical laboratories. To date, job placement for CAVT graduates has exceeded 95 percent. Accreditation: The CAVT is licensed by the Colorado State Division of Private Occupational Schools, and is accredited by the U.S. Department of Education and the American Veterinary Medical Association. A Career as a Veterinary Technician: Veterinary technicians assist veterinarians in all aspects of veterinary medicine including surgical, medical, and emergency nursing, radiology, anesthesiology, and numerous laboratory procedures. Caring for Animals: Veterinary technology is a caring profession. Veterinary technicians assist animal owners to provide care for their animal companions and provide the best possible quality of life for them.
