1 New Network Elements

1.1 SATURABLE Transformer based 2- and 3-Winding Transformer

The network element SATURABLE Transformer can be used to simulate 3-phase transformers with 2 or 3 windings based on ATP's SATURABLE Transformer Component. For more information please read the corresponding ATP Rule Book. Please note, that the ATPDesigner concept of the implementation of SATURABLE Transformers is identical to the concept of the implementation of XFORMER transformers.

Read more details in the chapter SATURABLE Transformer of the help file. See also the power network in .NET-File 25:

Library of Network Elements

ATPDesigner assists the user to manage his specific network elements using a Library of Network Elements. The user can transfer network elements to and from the library via the clipboad. Therefore the user must only use the Copy & Paste functions to work with a library. This can be done using the well known menu items, right mouse button menus, hot keys, toolbar buttons, etc.

Read more details in the chapter Overview about Libraries and How to Use a Library of the help file.

Pictures

The network element Text Frame has been extended to display not only a text but also Pictures. Textframes can be also used to load and display a picture in the electrical power network. Several file formats e.g. .BMP or .JPG can be used to load the picture. The size of the picture is not limited. But please note, that the complete picture e.g. a .BMP - file will be stored into the .NET-File. Therefore the size (in Bytes) of the .NET-File can be very large.

The figure below shows one of the examples of the EEUG coures 2006 realized in ATPDesigner. ATPDesigner calculates the 1-phase circuit and the current TACS-API001 has been displayed in a ATPDesigner diagram. You can see a snapshot of this diagram which was added to the power network using a Text Frame. Take a snapshot of a graphic using an graphics tool e.g. Paint Shop Pro Save the snapshot on the hard disk e.g. as bitmap Read the chapter Picture in a Textframe in the help file Add a new Text Frame to the power network Load the bitmap from the harddisk

Protection Elements

Protection elements have been added to the network element Probe to monitor network elements of the power network. Overcurrent element I> Overvoltage element V> Undervoltage element V<

Please note that the protection elements are actually only available in the Short Circuit Analysis, which is described in the section Short Circuit Analysis (ATP Steady State Analysis) e.g. the subpage Short Circuit Analysis Results Displayed in Tooltips. To use the protection elements follow the steps:

1. Execute the Short Circuit Analysis e.g. by CTRL + E or click on 2. F4 : Enable the Yellow Tooltips to display the voltages, currents, etc. 3. ATPDesigner checks before presenting the yellow tooltips, if one of the thresholds I>, V> or V< has been occurred. 4. If YES, the yellow toopltip will be drawn with a thick red frame. 5. If NO, the yellow tooltip wiil be drawn with a thin black frame.

The figure below shows an example how to user the protection elements. In the 20kV-network about 30 Probes are used to measure voltages and currents at different network nodes. The protection elements of each probe are used to monitor the phase-to-ground voltage regarding 110% V> and 90% V<. ATPDesigner compares the Short Circuit Analysis Results (Steady State Results) with the thresholds. It can be easily seen, at which nodes one or boten of the thresholds have been occurred.

2.2

Error Statistics of the .LST File

ATPDesigner checks the .LST-file for errors, if the network simulation has been finalised. Now ATPDesigner presents first an error statistics before each error comment will be displayed. The user can now decide to continue or to cancel. The figure below shows this new message.

Read more details in the chapter Errors and Warnings in the help file.

2.3

Checking Structure of the Power Network

ATPDesigner checks the structure of the power network writing the .ATP-file (ATP data case) on the hard disk. The figure below shows a new message.

Two network elements e.g. Probes are using the same node of the electrical power network in their 90or 91-TACS interface. This may cause a problem during the network simulation process and ATP may be stopped with an error message. The user specific names and the reference names of the both network elements are displayed in the message displayed above. Please use the FIND dialog to identify both network elements.
