As a part of the course curriculum, the first year M.B.A. student are required to prepare a report. The objective behind preparing this project report is to relate the management subjects taught in the classroom to their practical application. The preparation of this report is based of basic information of Process of Management. Here WE chose our organization as DIGJAM . Our work in this report is limited to the study only some part of the Process of Management and basic information about the Process of Management. Meaning of Planning:Planning refers to the process of deciding what to do and how to do it. Planning occurs at many levels, from day-to-day decisions made by individuals and families, to complex decisions made by businesses and governments.

Planning in DIGJAM: Concentrating on formal RTW(Ready To Wear) garments range. Increase their shares international market. Increase in institutional selling. On top level management, there are long terms objectives are decided. Like, establishment of new plant, launch new product etc. On middle level management short terms or day-to-day objectives are decided. Like, purchase of raw material, payment of cash, checking of quality.

PLANNING COMMITTEE: In generally planning is done by their top level management, but sometime they include department managers and expert committee to plane and for advice.

Meaning of Organizing:Organizing is the managerial function of arranging people and resources to work toward a goal. The purposes of organizing include but are not limited to determining the tasks to be performed in order to achieve objectives, dividing tasks into specific jobs, grouping jobs into departments, specifying reporting and authority relationships, delegating the authority necessary for task accomplishment, and allocating and deploying resources in a coordinated fashion.

Meaning of Staffing:The managerial function of staffing involves manning the organization structure through proper and effective selection, appraisal and development of the personnels to fill the roles assigned to the employers/workforce. According to Theo Haimann, Staffing pertains to recruitment, selection, development and compensation of subordinates.

Staffing in DHGJAM: Recruitment :In DIGJAM recruitment is done through various sources like consultancy firms, contact of present employee & former employees, intermediates and through advertisement in news papers & internet.

Selection:The selection procedure mainly depends upon the job for which person is to be employed. In DIGJAM due consideration is given to organizational requirements as well as technical & professional dimensions while selecting.

Training:In DIGJAM man power of all the departments are being trained on regular basis. There are general & job specific trainings & refreshers training to enhance the knowledge of the employees. For the work requiring particular skill or knowledge training is provided to workers in which they have to attend daily training sessions imparting knowledge regarding technical matters, quality maintenance, house keeping, safety, etc. and for practical knowledge they are being trained by experience d workers and then after they are examined and if they do not perform well then necessary steps are taken.

Training centers are separate for workers, staff & executives where they arrange case studies, seminars & conference. For development of employees company organizes development programmes for which professional form outside the company or guest faculty are also invited. In these programmes they are made aware of organizational behavior and how to improve themselves and improving the effectiveness & efficiency of the company so as to benefit themselves too being a part of it.

Meaning of Directing:DIRECTING is said to be a process in which the managers instruct, guide and oversee the performance of the workers to achieve predetermined goals. There mainly four element of directing, which are as follows: (1) Leadership: In DIGJAM systematically manager is the leader. And they plane and organize for leadership programs. Generally they guide to their workers and motivate them.

(2) Motivation: Motivation is given to the workers to as per their performance. Promotion or increment in DIGJAM is done on the basis of employees ability to work, their skills, behavior and other such merits. For promoting managerial staff the panel of president, vice president & president of HRM is there who takes the decision by taking feedback from the members of the company.

(3) Communication: Communication is the process of interchanging ideas, knowledge, views etc. In DIGJAM communication is upward slopping.

(4) Supervision: Supervision is seeing that subordinate do their work and do it as directed. In DIGJAM it has a department of quality checking which includes the officers who check the quality, quality of goods etc.

Meaning of Controlling: Controlling is one of the managerial functions like planning, organizing, staffing and directing. It is an important function because it helps to check the errors and to take the corrective action so that deviation from standards are minimized and stated goals of the organization are achieved in desired manner. According to modern concepts, control is a foreseeing action whereas earlier concept of control was used only when errors were detected. In controlling performance are observed, measured and compared what had been planned. It is the last function which helps DIGJAM to compare the planning with actual situation in what they did, last year they have increment in sales and also in profit. They have extra controlling officers and extra staff and the best thing of DIGJAM is that the turnover of employees.

At last, and after studying DIGJAM WOOLAN MILLS I am sure that DIGJAM will be in top of the mills in India. DIGJAM is very large organization and highly produced mill under BIRLA VXL Ltd., Now some highlights of DIGJAM,
