GETTING TO KNOW CITY CREEK CENTER

Welcome, shoppers, to Salt Lake Citys $2 billion, 700,000-square-foot showcase commercial development City Creek Center. Anchored by a three-story Macys and a two-story Nordstrom, and featuring scores of speciality stores, the downtown mall promises a shopping nirvana. Before testing the City Creek waters, it might be a good idea to get ones bearings. Below is a birds-eye view of the City Creek complex, complete with listings and locations for the malls 90 or so tenants. With 5,000 well-lit underground parking spaces and TRAX light-rail running to the front door, access couldnt get more convenient. And speaking of convenience, two large banks of restrooms on each block, free wi- throughout the mall and climate control in the form of retractable glass canopies will be crowd-pleasers. And theres even a creek that runs through it, a nod to the malls namesake City Creek that now is channeled mostly underground.

THE REGENT RESIDENTIAL TOWER

TRAX trains , both to and from Sandy and West Valley City, pass under the sky bridge and stop near City Creek Centers Main Street entrances.

RETRACTABLE CANOPY
It takes 41/2 minutes to open or close the retractable glass roof panels. Thats a decision well make on a daily basis, says City Creek spokesman Dee Brewer. The rooftop canopies slide on rails and will provide cover from bad weather on both the east and west promenade areas.

SKY WALK
The centers second level is connected via a concrete sky walk that runs all the way from Nordstrom, across the sky bridge, to the Food Court on the east end.

LIGHT-RAIL TRAIN

The pedestrian crossing that spans the street and a TRAX light-rail station has low-iron glass to reduce glare and reection.

WATER FEATURES
Fountains of water shooting from reecting pools are featured at City Creeks west end, while cascading water is featured in the east end. In between, a creek runs through it.
