What a weekend we had in St. Louis at the 2010 Relv International Conference! Ive been to countless Relv conferences over the years, but I cant remember any that were more motivating than this years Ready, Set, Relv! event. What made this conference so powerful, I think, was the simplicity and the clarity of the message flowing through the entire weekend: Lets go tell people about Relv! It wasnt a message being driven by the corporate office; it was rather a call to action generated by the Distributors themselves. As a result, you could feel a real community spirit and a genuine passion in the room from start to finish. People are ready to take action! With all that has transpired in our nation and in our world over the past few years, Distributors are realizing in a more profound way that they have discovered something in Relv that people truly need. And theyre learning that sharing it doesnt have to involve complex business strategies. Most of the time its simply a matter of asking people, Have you heard about Relv? Try it; it works! If youre a baseball or rock n roll fan, you can probably name a few hall-of-famers. These individuals represent a legacy that others aspire to build. The all-new Relv Hall of Fame is no different. At International Conference, 12 accomplished Distributors were inducted as Relvs first Hall of Fame Class. The Relv Hall of Fame is a Lifetime Achievement Award that recognizes the top income earners in the company. To qualify, a Distributor must have earned one of the top 15 incomes in the company at least five times. Top 15 performances do not have to be consecutive qualification accumulates over a Distributors career, making induction into the Hall of Fame a lifetime recognition. Honorees are recognized on stage at International Conference upon their induction. They also receive a trophy befitting their achievement, recognition at subsequent conferences and on reliv.com, and their photo on permanent display at Relv Headquarters. Our Hall of Famers have changed the lives of countless people in their Relv careers and played an instrumental role in advancing Relvs mission to Nourish Our World. Social media is changing the world and offering more ways for Relv Distributors to communicate effectively. With so many Distributors using Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and blogs in their businesses, it just made sense to take the 2010 International Conference online! The event is always an opportunity to network with other Distributors, but this year that opportunity was also extended to those who couldnt make it. Online, Distributors who were at the conference shared what they learned, and those who couldnt make it were able to get updates throughout the event. Form Relationships
Forming relationships is the goal of professional networking events. Instead of starting out with a sales pitch, ask others about their careers and what they like about it. The key to networking at these events is to have good listening skills, Rosemary advises. People love talking about themselves, so this will naturally open up the door for conversation. Be an active listener. Then stay in touch. That can mean planting the seed of interest about your Relv business, then developing the relationship further to sponsor someone. Maybe you send a business referral or pass along an article you found that relates to his or her industry. Perhaps you send a business owner a congratulatory note when you find out about an accomplishment. Maybe they arent ready to make a career move now, and thats ok. But once you have formed a credible professional relationship, you have set yourself up for a business opportunity meeting later. Plus, even if that individual isnt ready to become a Distributor or customer yet, perhaps they know of someone else who is.
Prepare Yourself
Be sure to bring a stack of business cards with you and be prepared to summarize what you do and why you love your business. Many networking events have a business card exchange at the beginning

Identify Need
Its no secret that our sedentary lifestyle and modern diets have left us at risk like never before. The most common risk factors have been grouped into the term metabolic syndrome and include high blood pressure, high blood sugar, excess body weight and abnormal cholesterol and triglyceride levels. At Relv we felt compelled to develop nutritional approaches to help address these issues. In 2005 we introduced CardioSentials, clinically shown to help maintain healthy cholesterol levels and support total heart health. Two years later we launched Slimplicity, a comprehensive lifestyle plan for shedding excess weight. And in 2008 we unveiled GlucAffect, an unprecedented nutritional approach to blood sugar management.

Research Ingredients
As high blood sugar became an increasing problem in the medical community, the nutritional field began to identify ingredients that helped address it. At Relv we worked with suppliers, colleagues, our Scientific Advisory Board and researchers on staff to create a list of potential ingredients based on solid scientific evidence. Our initial list was fairly extensive, but through continued research we started to piece together potential formulations.

Create Formula
We then sourced small quantities of ingredients using the same quality control practices we use for all of our products. Each ingredient required a Certificate of Analysis from an independent lab and we conducted our own testing upon arrival. It was a way to not only test the ingredients, but to test any new suppliers as well. We began the process of assembling the formula in the lab. Most ingredients came with suggested dose amounts based on clinical research, so we tried to work at these levels. The goal was to find the right synergistic blend so that nutrients would work together for maximum benefit. We created several different mixes and tested for things such as flavor, color and solubility and then worked toward a blend that would be both palatable and affordable without sacrificing effectiveness. Once we identified the formula, we scaled it up by ordering larger amounts of all ingredients and making sure it would work in production.
Since the introduction of our first product, Relv Classic, in 1988, Relv has remained steadfastly committed to staying on the cutting edge of nutrition science. As our unparalleled line of nutritional supplements has grown and evolved, our product development team has endeavored daily to ensure that Relv produces the most complete and effective nutritional supplements available today.

Test Formula
With GlucAffect we were fortunate to partner with Horphag Research to arrange an eight-week clinical trial of the product. The results were even better than we expected (see sidebar). We knew we had created a product unlike anything else on the market.

Launch Product
Ill never forget the excitement in that room in Chicago when we introduced GlucAffect. Even better were the stories of healthy blood sugar levels and weight loss that we started hearing just weeks after the launch. And those stories continue to pour in! I am very proud of what we accomplished in creating GlucAffect and look forward to hearing even more stories about the lives it will improve in the years to come.
In an eight-week clinical study, 50 overweight subjects with moderately elevated fasting blood glucose criteria for metabolic syndrome were randomly assigned to either receive four daily servings of GlucAffect or an inactive control product with identical taste, color and texture. Test subjects taking GlucAffect lowered their blood fasting glucose by an average of 30%, moving from pre-diabetic glucose levels to healthy blood sugar values. The lowered blood glucose was confirmed by the average HbA1c (glycosylated hemoglobin) level, which also moved into the healthy range. No significant glucose lowering was found in the control group. In addition, those individuals taking GlucAffect lost an average of nearly 16 pounds during the eight-week period, slimming to an extent on average that they achieved their optimal BMI (body mass index). No significant effect on body weight was found in the control group.

What is Pycnogenol?
Pycnogenol is an extract derived from the bark of the maritime pine tree that grows only in southwestern France. It was initially introduced in Europe in the 1970s as an over-the-counter product. Since then, it has become one of the most rigorously studied ingredients in nutrition science. Ninety eight clinical studies have validated the health benefits of Pycnogenol.
digestive fluids need to break down those starchy molecules into glucose, which then reach the bloodstream. GlucAffect actually works on digestive enzymes to slow down the digestion of starchy foods. As a result, you naturally lower the blood glucose peak after a meal, which could otherwise lead to weight gain and unhealthy blood sugar levels.

From the beginning, Pycnogenol was understood to improve vascular function, increase blood flow and lower blood pressure. It was later discovered to be a potent antioxidant, neutralizing free radicals much more effectively than popular supplements such as vitamin E. Additional studies revealed its anti-inflammatory properties, with people experiencing positive results with joint problems, asthma and many further health issues. More recently, as we began investigating Pycnogenol consumption in overweight people, we discovered that it also has an effect on normalizing blood sugar levels.

Why do you think the results of the GlucAffect clinical trial are so significant?

What the GlucAffect clinical trial showed so impressively is that people could manage their blood sugar levels and lose weight without using a stimulant or something harmful to the body. This was a placebo-controlled, evidence-based clinical trial published in a peer-reviewed medical journal. It is something Relv should be very proud of.

I have utmost respect for Dr. Carl Hastings and his team. Using GlucAffect as an example, the formula they created is a true breakthrough in nutrition science. I am not aware of any other product like it in the industry. You need look no further than the clinical trial to understand just how much they accomplished. I continue to work with Relv today and look forward to doing so for many years to come.

How does Pycnogenol work in combination with the other ingredients found in GlucAffect?
The combination of active components in GlucAffect all point to the ability to naturally reduce the blood sugar levels after a dietary intake of carbohydrates. Usually when we eat carbohydraterich meals pasta, bread, rice, etc.
When we began the clinical study, we expected to see a lowering of blood sugar levels because of the active ingredients in GlucAffect and because we had selected participants with slightly elevated blood sugar levels. What we didnt expect to see was such significant weight loss over the eight-week period an average of nearly 16 pounds! So that means we have statistically significant data demonstrating the products effectiveness in addressing two of the criteria for metabolic syndrome. In addition,
Frank Schonlau Ph.D. is a biochemist who has spent nine years in medical research at the University Clinic of Munster, Germany. His area of expertise covers vascular disorders, inflammation and dermatology. He has published more than 35 studies and review articles in the medical literature. Since entering the dietary field in 1999 he was involved in numerous studies on Pycnogenol and the communication of new health discoveries.

Team Relv Running Club o 74 people completed the challenge. o Top 10 runners all had over 400 miles each. o 23,500 total miles enough to run around the world! Participating in the Team Relv Running Club pushed me to a new level of fitness and helped me lose the baby weight that just didnt want to go away. It taught me to set my goals and never give up! When Robin first heard about Team Relv at the 2010 National Conference, she ran behind the stage to thank the Relv staff. Her first Team Relv event, the Our House Five Miler, generated 80 leads! And having to log my mileage for the Team Relv Running Club was a great motivator for me. I started running races again, Robin says. She started biking and swimming again too. In July 2010, Robin competed in her very first triathlon. I had an amazing sense of accomplishment and fulfillment. I realized that my body could be strong! I felt so great afterwards and I know it is because of these products, she says. If it wasnt for Relv, I would not have accomplished this!

Key Directors Deb and Rich Riolo of Grand Rapids, MI, tried in vain to get out from under crushing debt... and then they found Relv. I love the ability to make a difference and work from home
Director Sidney Czynski of Lundelein, IL, was not interested in a business. Retired from a 30-year career as an airline attendant, she was physically exhausted. Bronze Ambassador Hubert Washington of Union City, CA, says, Relv products have been wonderful for my stepmom, Estella Washington. Having been on Relv for over 13 years, she is feeling great at 102! With our woodworking business being so slow in this economy, Relv has really changed our outlook. We almost cant describe how good it feels to help so many people! Reaching this level means weve helped a lot of people get what they need. We love hearing that we have helped improve peoples health, and that continues to strengthen our Wall of Belief. The most rewarding part for us is to help our downline get results with these products and in their businesses. We know that we will continue to take it one step at a time, but with Relv, our future looks healthy and happy!
Once we tried Relv, we felt better than we did as teenagers. We exploded with excitement! The business grew simply because we just couldnt keep quiet about what we had discovered. It really makes us happy to see our downline succeed. When they get a bonus check, you feel like you helped them along the way. International Conference was a huge success for the Relv Kalogris Foundation. Over 90% of conference attendees participated in the Walk for the Mission a new record! And the Foundation raised over $60,000 just that weekend! So far in 2010, contributions to the RKF are up 20%, and were on pace to have our best year yet!
