Influencing Teachers in India Our Discipleship Training School staff who returned from India in Feb reported that 2,298 children heard the Kits for Kids hygiene teaching. In Silod, the team was not allowed to share about Jesus with the teaching, which was discouraging at first, but resulted in many more invitations to speak. They stayed in a community where many teachers lived and each one wanted them to come to her classroom. Before leaving, they planned a goodbye celebration for the teachers where they shared they were followers of Jesu and led them in bhajan, a traditional Indian prayer litany. They expected 20 and 65 came. Each lady received a Bible. Our partner church planters in the area will follow up. Bible Teaching Reaches the Non-Literate in Nepal Two of our staff just finished teaching at a Bible School for the Nations in Nepal, which included a BELT (Biblical Education & Leadership Training) outreach. Nelson (front left in photo) reports: The BELT outreach to West Nepal was a great opportunity to lead a passionate team of leaders into some of the poorest villages in Nepal. Many of the people we taught in these 2 weeks did not know how to read or write, so interactive learning techniques were crucial. We often had reviews, and were rewarded near the end of our time with much retention of the material. They learned that they are created in the image of God, infinitely valuable, and equal in the eyes of God. Stewarding the Home God Gave Us Here Guests this winter have included Justin, a young wanderer we took in for 6 weeks. In the picture, we shared a dinner with two MAF dads and their sons here for a ski weekend getaway. A family of 3 will move in downstairs for 10 weeks Mar 31st to help staff our Bible School. Our trial in Feb was a clogged sewer line. Several attempts at clearing were only a temporary fix, until a camera revealed a plastic cleanout lid wedged in the pipe 4 ft down under ice and snow. Had to build a fire to get thru. Justin helped dig. All clear now .

Praises: - For 2 volunteers offering to refinish our office floor (my work space), badly needed! - For passionate young adults willing to go to hard places and share Jesus! - That Jackie found temporary housing in Spokane near bus and friends from Moody Prayer Requests: - More students for our Bible School for the Nations beginning April 8th in Cascade - Gods best for us thru an April marriage retreat and some ongoing counseling for Steve - Jackie still needs a job in Spokane!

Steves Asia Trip ContinuedNepal! As you read on pg 1, our involvement in Nepal is increasing. A year ago I, Steve, got to see the location where the Bible School for the Nations is held, near a small village in the foothills of the Annapurna Mountains above the city of Pokhara. I got to lead worship in the simple classroom, and Troy (standing) shared about the long-range purpose of our scouting/vision trip.

Our 7-hr bus ride winding through steep hills back to the capital city of Kathmandu was reason enough to be right with God! We got to visit most of the ministries of YWAM there, headed up by Nar Lama, whom many of you at WCUMC have met. Below is the Sharan Home, for village women and children infected with AIDS. In the photo below, two YWAMers and I are treated to tea in the shack of a local Buddhist priest, who respects the medical work they are doing in his slum. I got to spend

time at the main YWAM bases in both big cities, as well as with Rajendra, a church planter in the villages outside of Kathmandu. We met a 3-generation family from a small village in west Nepal, on their way to their first ever international church conference in Malaysia they know some of the same worship songs we do, but in a different language! I was most encouraged by how the Lord is moving in Nepal! Longing for God Speaking of the Lord moving, He has been working deeply in me personally during a time away from duties with YWAM. I have been to a couple of spiritual retreats/seminars, doing a lot of reading, journaling, and dialoguing with those further along the journey, seeing the Lord restore my relationship with my daughter, and grappling with what it means to be a servant. One truly exciting insight: At a spiritual formation seminar, I learned that my deepest longing for God is not just a frustrating highlighter of how far I have to go, but it is a reflection of Gods own yearning for me, and a promise of ultimate consummation!
