ADSL vs ADSL2+

ADSL
q Adopts

DMT (Discrete Multi Tone) modulation mode. q Asymmetrical transmission mode is supported, and the upstream transmission rate can reach 896kbit/s, while the downstream rate can be 8160kbit/s; q The maximum distance is 5Km

ADSL2+
q Has

a downstream frequency band of up to 24 Mbit/s, which doubles that of ADSL. It has an upstream rate of 2.3 Mbit/s q Adjusting the transmission rate based on the line conditions when initializing, with 32kbit/s adjustment step length. q The maximum distance is 6.5Km

q MA5600

Supports port- based VLAN and 802.1Q VLAN; q The applications as follow: Standard VLAN Smart VLAN Mux VLAN Super VLAN QinQ VLAN VLAN Stacking

Internal Use

28

Smart VLAN
q The

Smart VLAN is applied in residential area to provide access to the Internet. With this technology, multiple downstream ports and one or multiple upstream port can be grouped into a Smart VLAN. Meanwhile, the system creates internal mapping between the upstream port and downstream ports to isolate Layer 2 subscribers.

Super VLAN
qA

Super VLAN comprises multiple Sub-VLANs. q All of these Sub-VLANs share a common Layer 3 interface, greatly saving IP segment resources. q You can add an existing Smart VLAN, MUX VLAN or a Standard VLAN to a Super VLAN as a Sub-VLAN, whether these VLANs contain any port or not.

Internal Use

31

QinQ VLAN
q

In QinQ application, the packet transmitted in the backbone network has two layers of 802.1Q tags: a public VLAN tag and a private VLAN tag.

There is no congestion in the upstream direction, so it is not necessary to classify the service. There is GE connection between ADSL card and SCU, each adsl port (64 ports adsl card) average bandwidth is 15M

SCU support content classification based on L2 to L4 within a frame. Based on the results of classification the following actions can be taken: Map into CoS queues Remark IP ToS (mapping into 802.1p ) Limiting traffic rate (CAR) Discarding the packet

MA5600

In this networking, the SCU provides GE/FE ports to connect to the MA5600 (or MA5300) frames in subtending. Two types of slave frames are available: MA5600 frame. It uses the SCU as the main control board to provide Ethernet uplink ports. MA5300 frame. It uses the ESM as the main control board to provide Ethernet uplink ports.
