My name is Jean-Paul Marceau and I m in the maritime business for 25 years. I am a ship captain for 8 years and I work for a CMA CGM subsidiary company for 3 years. Being a captain has both avantages and disadvantages . The biggest advantage of all is that Im very well paid so I can provide my family a strong financial situation. But with great power comes great responsibility. Peoples lives depend of my decisions, thats why it takes a strong character and a healthy judgement to be a ship captain.

When I was younger I used to see things different and the nowadays disadvantages of this job like being away from home, living an adventurous life were the attractive points in that time of youth. This is my second voyage on the CMA CGM Florida a 5078 TEUS container ship of 294m length and 32 m breadth. The ship is well equiped with high standard navigational systems and bowthrusters. I am very satisfied with this young vessel's performances and until now we haven't encountered problems that could not be dealt with. We are transporting refridgerated fish and oysters from the North Sea waters and the Atlantic coast of France in specialized reefer containers so it is very important that we deliver on time the cargo to protect the interests of both the shipper and the consignee. This would be the second month of the 4 months voyage on the following navigational route: North Sea- English Channel FranceNorth America.

19-07-2002. Dear Sirs, Please be informed that the vessel under my command has loaded light of deadweight to the amount of 510 metric tons of Methanol. According to the vessel's ullages taken upon completion of loading at the COMCOlnstallation at Swansea the cargo totalled 7,990 metric tons of Methanol. However, you inserted a quantity of 8,500 metric tons in the Bill of Lading, which means that there is a difference of 510 metric tons. We will therefore sign a foul Bill of Lading. I herewith submit formal notice, reserving owners' right to claim deadfreight as they may consider necessary as per covering Charter Party. Please acknowledge receipt of this letter. Yours faithfully, Jean-Paul Marceau , Master of CMA CGM Florida

I, Jean Paul Marceau, Master of The Good Ship CMA CGM Florida, call sign 2BLN2, GT 54309 tons, properly stowed, manned and equipped, of

London Registration, owned by CMA-CGM Company, hereby declare that my vessel, underway from Brest to New York on April 29th, 2009, with a cargo of 5,078 containers, met with adverse weather on the said date that caused extreme rolling and pitching of my vessel. To protect vessel and cargo from any losses or damage I ordered to reduce speed to "half ahead". Therefore our ETA-New York was retarded, which has resulted in a delay of 20 hours. I hereby deny all responsibilities for any damage caused by the bad weather situation. Signed: J.P. Marceau, Master.

LETTER OF PROTEST

MV Lisa. 17

Voy: Recife - Rotterdam

Lying at: Rotterdam-Botlek. Cargo: 8,500 tons refrigerated cargo. Date: 15 October-2002. To: Greenwood Services.

Bert/Terminal: Merwedehaven - 6A

Dear Sir, Please be advised that there is a discrepancy between ship- and shore figures covering 8,500 tons refrigerated cargo. During discharging at your terminal this 15 October 2002 of the above mentioned cargo our first mate observed the following fact that was detrimental to the quantity / quality of the cargo: inadequate stowing and transportation of 300 tons of frozen fish, resulting in severe deterioration of quality due to thawing. In order to protect the interests of our principals, Messrs. Pronk-Seafood Rotterdam, we regret having to advise you on their request and on their behalf, that they hold you responsible for all costs, expenses and/or detrimental consequences which might result from the above.
