PHILOSOPHY
Mr Rajiv Aggarval evokes a sensibility that is modern, having a strong reference to the theme of the building and most importantly climate, culture and craft rooted in a strong regional context. He as always tried to preserve the tradition and the culture of the site in his designs which brings life and the connection of the land together. Architecture is an embodiment of 'a way of life' and the values that determine its path. The 'design process' is closer to the one experienced by an artist while creating a work of art. Of course, the site, context, materials and function do play a role in defining the actual design moves and these get absorbed and internalized to aid the design process unselfconsciously. A successful work of architectural design has SIMPLICITY & CLARITY with crystallization of design thought and moves to a degree that the design is simple, almost austere. The construction techniques and materials are used to explore all their intrinsic qualities like strength, density, and texture in their bare HONEST form. A constantly changing experience jogs the mind constantly and it continues to absorb and react to the built environment making it PLAYFUL. Constant play between two contrasts like changing views, light and shadow, change in axis, smooth and rough texture, hard and soft landscape. Each one enhances the opposite by contrast in close proximity. There is always a duality at play - two opposite materials, two colors, two spaces, two geometries and two textures. Eventually the built environment consists of SPACES, which are sensed through a play of LIGHT. These are the both, the tools as well as the end products in architecture. The basic idea in any design has been to see the simplicity of the site, and the driving facts which contribute to the connectivity and to blend with the site and the surrounding. In all the designs the architect has maintained the key features of Green Architecture.

The planning is based on a series of visually interconnected pedestrian clusters. The liner fashion was observed thoroughly and keeping in mind the building was designed in context to the site.

Due to the extreme climatic conditions of New Delhi, where the summer sees temperatures of above 45 degrees centigrade, and the winters often see temperatures below 5 degree centigrade. The buildings function was decided according to the movement of the sun.

Building with varying heights to provide mutual shading concept and builtvolumes define these clusters.

Visual transparency has been maintained at ground level by providing stilted areas. Almost all buildings in the Academic Zone are connected with elevated walk-ways. Al lot of shaded area have been provided taken in consideration of activities of students and the climatic conditions.
