A STUDY ON USAGE AND CONSUMER SATISFACTION TOWARDS SOLAR WATER HEATERS IN JODHPUR REGION

Mr. Akshaya Katiyar Abstract

Challenge of climate change and global warming continuously threaten the world community and energy conservation and environmental protection have today emerged as pressing issues and are being accorded top most priority by companies all over the world. Solar power is attractive because it is abundant and offers a solution to fossil fuel emissions and global climate change. Earth receives solar energy at the rate of approximately 1,20,000 terawatt. In fact, solar energy is the largest exploitable renewal resource as more energy from sunlight strikes Earth in 1 hour than all of the energy consumed by humans in an entire year. Use of Solar energy is also requirement of the day because the fossil fuel reserves are rapidly depleting and greenhouse gases and are to be substantially reduced to limit the carbon emission from the power sector in near future.

India is blessed with abundant solar energy and Rajasthan in particular is bestowed with significant amount of solar energy potential. Endowed with conducive conditions with perennial and abundant solar radiation, Rajasthan has the potential to become the hub for solar power technologies and generation of sunrise green energy, capable of producing trillion kilowatts of electricity.

Solar heating has become the order of the day and is a very low cost and efficient alternative. Use of solar energy for heating water is one of the oldest and most mature renewable energy technologies. Although initial set up costs are high, they are energy and cost effective in the long

run. Having the responsibility to hand over a cleaner, greener and safer environment to the next generation, it is high time we switched over to these form of energy.

This study gives the facts about the solar water heater system. These solar hot water heaters offers benefits behind that of economic gain by reducing of electricity and gas consumed and also solar hot water heaters help reduce pollutants. The study covers an analysis of the extent of awareness and satisfaction among consumers of solar water heating system in Jodhpur Region of Rajasthan.
