Fool's Paradise

Episode 7: The Prince

Episode 7: The Prince

Third Years, I implore you, prove our worthiness as the greatest graduating
year!
In that instant, the Principal grinned proudly as the entire room of Third
Years stood up and clapped in unison at the end of a powerful speech delivered by
none other than their first ranked Third Year. The male with sleeked back blond
hair and glowing purple eyes bowed once as the girls in the front row threw heartshaped boxes of candy at his feet. He picked one up before he left the stage and
sat down next to Jovi.
Excellent speech, Prince Wilhelm, Jovi said immediately. It moved me to
tears.
Wilhelm gave Jovi an unwavering gaze. Thank you, fellow classman.
You must tutor me sometime. I want to catch up to your 125% grade
average.
If it pleases the lovely Lady Jovi, said Wilhelm with a lopsided grin. I will
be more than happy to oblige.
I am teasing, my Prince, Jovi said, hiding a smile behind her gloved hand.
You have all the Third Year students waiting for you to tutor them. Please do not
bother with me.
'All'? Wilhelm said, shaking his head. He held the red box up to observe. I
beg to differ, fellow classman. There is one obvious student among us who will not
even approach me, nevertheless ask for my help in her studies.
Are you referring to fellow classman Karenana?
The very one.
Both Jovi and Wilhelm glanced to the other side of the room where Karenana
sat among the members of the Charity Club. The silver-haired girl wore an
extraordinary gothic lolita gown with more frills than usual and high-heel boots of
the same style. If possible, Karenana adorned a more complicated style than
usual, by tying her strands of silver hair with strings instead of the usual frilly,
blue headpiece. Compared to the girls around her, Karenana seemed to stand out
even more with makeup that brought out her blue eyes and red lips.
Lady Jovi, Wilhelm said after he finished observing Karenana. Correct me
if I'm wrong, but does it not seem that fellow classman Karenana has gained a
slight tan?
Jovi scanned Karenana first. It appears so. Her skin tone was a lot paler
before the break.
I am curious as to what activities she partake in recently.
Most likely outdoor activities, Jovi said.
Wilhelm allowed a chuckle. Obviously! But that is quite the image, is it not,
Lady Jovi? Fellow classman Karenana is not the sporty type.
I agree, Jovi said, turning her eyes back to Wilhelm. But she might have
picked up a couple of new hobbies after dating my dear friend Bogancio.
Bogancio? Wilhelm repeated. Noble Ian's fool?

The very one, Jovi said with a fondness Wilhelm had never heard before
from the beautiful girl. Bogancio is quite an adventurous servant. Quite amusing
as well.
I have heard about this unusual relationship between them before,
Wilhelm said admittedly. He opened the box to reveal heart-shaped marshmallows
in multiple colors. However, I honestly believed that fellow classman Karenana
would have broken off such a relationship by now.
She seems to be in high spirits, Jovi said with a sweet smile. I believe
that your assumption is not the case here, my Prince. Her tan proves otherwise as
well.
How peculiar, Wilhelm said, picking up a pink heart from his box.
***
During lunch break, Bogancio hid behind the corner of a building and
checked out his surroundings. No one seemed to be looking for him. Something
was off. He had returned to school for three days now and so far, no one had tried
to hurt him. Did the bullies give up? Impossible. Therefore, Bogancio could only
draw one conclusion- he had somehow stumbled accidentally upon a different
school identical in appearance to his own. And here, no one hated him yet.
Bobo.
Bogancio jumped, but calmed down when it was only Andy Blaire behind
him. Andy, I have a serious question for you.
I will answer to the best of my abilities, Andy Blaire saluted.
Have we accidentally transferred to a different school?
Andy Blaire stared at Bogancio for a good minute before she said, First,
may I ask how you arrive at this conclusion?
Never mind, Bogancio said. You were looking for me?
Oh, yes, Andy Blaire said as the two headed to his mailbox. Andy Blaire
picked up the contents inside. I will be out of town this weekend.
Your father again?
My brother this time.
Isn't he a soldier for the government?
Andy Blaire smiled. You remembered.
You should give me more credit than that, Bogancio said, hurt.
I apologize, Andy Blaire said quickly. But yes. He rarely takes time off
from his work so I want to spend the weekend with my family. Will you be all
right?
Actually, yes, Bogancio said with more strength in his voice. No one has
bullied me since we got back.
I've noticed, said the bodyguard with a comforting smile. She shuffled
through his mail. I have actually mentioned this matter to Nana and the others.
Er, why wasn't I there? Bogancio said as he lifted the familiar pink
envelope from the stack of letters in Andy Blaire's hand.
It wasn't an official meeting, Andy Blaire said firmly. Bogancio sighed. I
passed the remark to Dani, who passed it to Candy, who passed it along to Nana.
Okay. What did they say?
The consensus is- your bullies have moved on.
Bogancio frowned. That's it?
Their tactics obviously haven't been working, Andy Blaire said with a

shrug. They have either moved to a new victim or planned a new strategy
altogether.
Bogancio paled. Isn't that second possibility worrisome?
Perhaps, Andy Blaire said. She pointed at the pink envelope. You're going
to read it for once, Bobo?
I don't know, Bogancio said. Anyways, Bogancio held the envelope
behind his back. Youre really laidback about my bullying issue for once, Andy.
Andy Blaire shrugged. Nothing you cannot handle.
You sure about that?
I should give you more credit, right? Andy Blaire said, putting the mail
back in the box after a quick safety check. Bogancio wished he never said that
line. Besides, if they indeed are changing their course of action towards you, they
will most likely use non-physical means, which is not in my field of expertise; I
would not be of use to you anyways. Bogancio had a bad feeling about this. You
are in capable hands with Nana around if they try anything.
But Andy, Bogancio said with no color left in his face. What if it's Nana
I'm afraid of?
Andy Blaire allowed a chortle. Bobo, you are so funny.
I was being serious...
I will miss you, Bobo, Andy Blaire said as she quickly hugged Bogancio.
Bogancio was still thinking of him and Karenana so he failed to respond back. But
I promise to bring back some gifts for you and the others.
If I'm still alive by then, Bogancio said under his breath.
In the meantime, Andy Blaire said, not bothered at all. I heard that
Upperclassman Jovi won a violin competition over the break. Should you not
congratulate her, Bobo?
Bogancio thought about it. I really should...
She is currently located in the music building.
Thanks, Andy, Bogancio said, realizing he had no choice in the matter.
I shall be packing in the meantime, Andy Blaire said, stepping inside the
dorms. You know where I am if you need me, Bobo.
On his way to the music building, Bogancio opened the pink envelope and
pulled out a folded sheet of pink paper. Mistress Genevieve wrote him an essay.
Since Bogancio disliked essays, he skimmed through most of it until something
caught his attention. Near the end of her long letter, Mistress Genevieve
mentioned her engagement.
She's turning fourteen already, Bogancio thought. How long has it been
since we've known each other?
More interested in her life than before, Bogancio read on. Mistress
Genevieve told him that her engagement party to the fifth prince would be taking
place during the Autumn Break and that he would be escorting her to the Royal
Palace. If he remembered correctly, Autumn Break took place three weeks from
now. In other words, during his one week break from school, he had to escort her
of all people. And it was mandatory since this was set up by Master Castillo and
Mistress Castillo, who were paying for all his living expenses.
I was looking forward to a nice break, too, Bogancio thought sadly.
The last sentence of the letter caught Bogancio completely off guard.
Without mincing words, Mistress Genevieve asked him to stop by her school and

run away with her. Bogancio decided this was important enough to change his
path from the music building to where the servants usually washed laundry. As
expected, Callie was there with her usual batch of laundry.
Yo, stupid maid, Bogancio said in greeting.
Callie narrowed her eyes at him. It's you.
Quick question, Bogancio said casually, leaning against the fence. Does
Mistress Genevieve know anything about Nana and the others?
Absolutely not, Callie said bitterly. Master Ian and I have kept our mouths
shut.
Makes sense...
Why? Callie said, glaring. You don't usually care about Mistress
Genevieve.
You're close to her, Bogancio said, throwing the letter at Callie's feet.
Callie hastily picked it up. Can't you say anything about how running away from
home is not a good idea?
What is the meaning of this? Callie demanded after finishing the letter a
few minutes later. What have you said to her?
I haven't said shit, Bogancio said, defensive. I haven't even seen her over
the break!
You don't think she will try to run away from home, do you?
That would suck for her cause she can't do anything on her own.
Show more sensitivity for once, you fool, Callie spat. Bogancio yawned,
not caring. I'm certain she won't be going anywhere though. The security at her
school is a lot tighter than here.
Good, Bogancio said in dismissal. Cause I don't want Master Ian to get
mad at me again.
Callie sighed. My poor Mistress... why do you want to run away with such a
crude man...
Hey, Bogancio said, irked. You make it sound like it's my fault.
It is your fault, you dumbass, Callie said, placing a hand on her hip. If you
never became part of this family, Mistress Genevieve wouldn't have second
thoughts about her arranged marriage and Master Ian might have found a
girlfriend by now!
Bogancio rubbed the sides of his head and turned away. I have had enough
of this stupidity. Bogancio started leaving the area. You do something about this,
Pinkhead.
Do you not care for Mistress Genevieve at all? Callie called after him.
Bogancio stopped and muttered, What happens to her has nothing to do
with me.
The line came out crueler than the Fool originally intended, but he went on
his merry way toward the music building. It was too much of a bother to explain
everything to Callie. His relationship with Mistress Genevieve was none of her
business anyways. Actually, a part of him liked the fact that she was getting
engaged to a prince. That way, Mistress Genevieve could continue living a spoiled,
rich life and not bother with this childish crush anymore.
Bogancio! Jovi blurted out loud at the sight of the Fool passing by her
practice room. Jovi picked up the hem of her gown and scurried over to the door.
She flung it open and said after him, Bogancio! Good afternoon!

Oh, Bogancio said, whirling around. You switched rooms.

It is a new semester after all, Jovi said with a sweet smile. Bogancio
hurried back to her. How have you been, my dear Bogancio?
Good, Bogancio said, deciding vague was best. I heard you won a violin
competition. Congratulations, Jovi.
Thank you very much! News travel fast!
Good and bad, Bogancio said, thinking of how everyone already knew
about his relationship with Dani already.
Have I changed your mind about classical music at all? said Jovi hopefully.
Yeah, Bogancio said, faking a wide grin. I bet I would have liked your
performance.
I wished you were there, Jovi said.
You probably don't need my critique anymore, Bogancio said, hiding his
disappointment behind a charming smile. You are very much on your way to
becoming a real musician.
That is far from the truth, Bogancio, said Jovi, sitting down with her violin
on top of her right thigh and her bow on her left thigh. Please have a seat. I have
a matter to discuss with you.
Sure, Bogancio said, grabbing a chair and sitting with the board against
his chest rather than his back. What's up?
I have not said a word about my decision to anyone other than my
servants...
Yeah?
Jovi closed her eyes and took a deep breath. I will be participating in one
more violin competition and it will be my last.
Bogancio's jaw dropped. But... why?
My parents, especially my father, have pressured me into learning all the
necessary skills to becoming a presentable lady of society. I believe that as the
successor to my father's company, I should switch my focus from these hobbies to
business instead.
Er, Bogancio said, searching for the right words. Did you decide this on
your own?
I am inspired by fellow classman, Prince Wilhelm, Jovi said with an earnest
expression. She bent over and placed the violin carefully in its case. He is
working hard to become a prince worthy of his people, even if he's not next in line
for the throne.
He goes to this school? Bogancio said, clueless.
Yes, but because he is the Prince, he sleeps under a different roof than
everyone else.
That makes sense, I guess.
So, Bogancio, Jovi said, standing up and wrapping her hands behind her
back. What is your opinion on all this?
About you quitting the violin? Bogancio said to confirm.
That is one of the topics, Jovi said with a patient look.
Excuse my rudeness, but, Bogancio said, frowning severely. Have you
ever thought about not succeeding your father's company?
Jovi seemed baffled. Why would I ever have such thoughts?
Well, you know, Bogancio said, thinking. He had to pick his words more

carefully around Jovi because of her position and her friendship with Master Ian.
Isn't it sad that a servant's son has to also be a servant? Or a maid's daughter
has to also be a maid?
That is unfortunate indeed, Jovi agreed.
But they don't have to be a servant or a maid, Bogancio said slowly.
Therefore, you don't have to take over your father's company either. It's not
like... you don't have other options.
You always bring up such fascinating points, dearest Bogancio, Jovi said,
sitting down again with a playful glint in her eyes. What do you suggest I do
instead, Bogancio?
You said once before that you want to be proud of your life.
That is correct.
Then, Bogancio said, shrugging. Do what you feel most proud of?
Her face fell a bit. I am unsure what that is.
You don't have to like figure that out until later, Bogancio added quickly.
That is a relief, Jovi said with a short giggle. I have to really reflect first.
Yeah! Do that!
I have other reasons to quit the violin though, Jovi said, closing the violin
case. Whether I will take over my father's company or not, I will stop playing.
Jovi noticed how interested Bogancio was to knowing why so she gave in. One of
the reasons is because of you, Bogancio.
Bogancio pointed at himself. Me?
You once told me that I sound too similar to other violinists, Jovi said. And
after much thinking, I agree with you wholeheartedly. Bogancio thought back,
wondering whether he was lying or genuine about that remark. I am not meant
to be a violinist. I play to entertain myself and my parents, but I cannot pursue
such a hobby for the rest of my life. I do not have the drive for it.
Well, once you find that drive for something, Bogancio said, feeling
slightly guilty. You should go for it.
As if his words turned on a switch, Jovi gasped. Bogancio! Have you ever
loved another?
I love my mothers and Master Ian, Bogancio said automatically.
No, I mean, between a man and a woman, Jovi said. Bogancio was
speechless. The topic change was too much for him. However, Jovi took his silence
as something else. What a foolish question of me! You are courting four young
ladies. Of course, you love them.
Er, Bogancio said, gaping at her. What's on your mind, Jovi?
I have been thinking about another for quite some time now, Jovi said,
angling her face toward the wall instead of Bogancio. I am beginning to question
whether this is the start of this drive we talked about.
There is such a thing as pursuing someone you like, Bogancio said
absentmindedly. When he noticed Jovi's eyes lit up, Bogancio felt torn for some
reason. But are you sure about this? Maybe you are simply confused?
Jovi tapped her fingers to her lips. I wonder... Jovi bolted over to
Bogancio's side and crouched down next to him. She peered up at him. Bogancio,
what outdoor activity did you enjoy during your break?
Activity? Bogancio repeated. She switched topics again. You mean
running?

Running? Jovi said, surprised.

I joined the Track Team.
Jovi nodded in understanding. It suits you, Bogancio!
It does? Bogancio said, blinking.
Smiling, Jovi said, I have never seen anyone run as fast as you! I am quite
happy for you!
Er, thanks, said Bogancio awkwardly.
Excited, Jovi said, May I perhaps indulge myself in witnessing you in your
moment of glory for myself?
Bogancio had to repeat the question in his head a couple of times before he
understood what she meant. I'm cool with that, but it can be really hot
outdoors.
I was thinking of getting a tan anyways, Jovi said.
Is that so? Bogancio said, not sure what to say. We have after school
practice tomorrow.
Very well, Jovi said, standing up straight now. I will stop by right after
class.
I'll see you then?
Absolutely, Jovi said with the most beautiful smile Bogancio had ever seen.
Until then!
After Bogancio left the room and Jovi returned to playing scales, Bogancio
groaned and dropped his head. He felt completely wiped out after that
conversation. Slowly, he was starting to slip into his usual rude self around Jovi.
Jovi could only be honest around him and her servants, but in return, in order to
safeguard his relationship with Ian, he couldn't be as honest around her. One day,
Bogancio wished he could speak his mind around Jovi like with his girlfriends. He
liked her a lot. Too bad. She saw him as nothing more than a carefree servant with
four girlfriend. The thought was depressing.
***
The following day, Bogancio was on his way to the lockerroom when Dani
tackled him from behind. Bogancio carried her the rest of the way. She was
heavier than Karenana, but it was nothing he couldn't handle. Dani and Bogancio
entered their respective sides of the lockerroom. When Dani left in her usual track
clothes, she noticed Bogancio waiting for her.
Bobo! Dani said, smacking his back. I burped for so long yesterday that I
must have broken some sort of record.
We should have a burping contest one day.
Dani held her fist out. Totally!
Andy will be out of town this weekend, Bogancio said, bumping fists with
Dani.
Oh, really? Dani said with wide eyes. Well, that sucks!
Yeah, Bogancio said absentmindedly, glancing away.
Bobo, I know that look too well, Dani said with her hands on her hips.
What's bothering you? You can tell me.
Someone I know, Bogancio said carefully, asked me for love advice.
Who else better to talk to?
But I don't like it, Bogancio continued.
Oh, Dani said, a bit taken back. Is it a girl?

Yeah. She's a female student here.

Girl troubles, Dani said, pouting and shaking her head. You're talking to
the wrong person then, Bobo. Candy is probably more suited for this.
Er, I don't think I'll do that, Bogancio said without a doubt.
Dani blinked, more surprised. If you can tell me, you can tell Candy.
Candy is the center of our group, Bogancio said. He felt the need to
explain this to Dani. Whatever anyone says to her, everyone else will also know
about it. Dani nodded in agreement. But this is something I want to figure out
on my own without everyone helping me out.
Oh, I get you, Dani said. You want to resolve your girl troubles
independently.
Yeah, Bogancio said, relieved at Dani's positive reaction. I know I can tell
you because you understand where I'm coming from.
Well, duh, Dani said, delighted. I am pretty independent from my parents
after all. And we're practically the same person sometimes.
You won't tell the others? said Bogancio, hopeful.
I won't, Dani said. But you shouldn't have to hide secrets from the others
like this.
I know. I don't want to either, Bogancio said, sighing.
Why do you that then? Dani wondered out loud. Is it the
aggressiveness?
Partly, Bogancio admitted. But mostly once Nana decides on getting
involved with my personal affairs, the other two listen to her and things get out of
hand.
Dani rubbed her chin. Like a gang leader almost.
That's a scary image, Bogancio said under his breath.
Bobo, Dani said firmly, looking at him. That's the power in numbers.
Power in numbers?
Even if you don't want to go shopping, there's nothing you can do about it
if it's three against one, Dani said and grinned at Bogancio's annoyance at the
mention of shopping. Nana is fully aware of this and she's taking advantage of it.
Relationships are a fickle business.
I should have known, Bogancio said with a long sigh.
But I won't fall for that, Dani said with a wide grin. She gave him a thumbs
up. Cause I don't like the same activities as those guys so you're not alone
anymore, Bobo.
Dan, Bogancio cried, hugging her close to him. Don't turn to one of them
on me.
I won't, Dani said proudly. They have zero interest in sports. How can that
be possible?
The conversation was cut short. Karenana and Kandyl joined the other two
right after. After what happened between them during the break, Karenana had
built up her endurance slightly thanks to Dani's advice. Kandyl had gotten quicker
at jogging, too. During the jog around the school, they usually stuck together. For
the mountain climb, they often separated in half with Bogancio, Dani, and Andy
Blaire in the front of the pack and the other two in the back. They performed the
other training from stair climbing to stretching together though. Since school
started, they mostly stretched and jogged.

What is he doing here? Karenana said in a tone full of menace. The Track
Team just finished the usual stretching.
Who is 'he', Nana? Kandyl said, tilting her head.
Karenana rolled her eyes. Prince Wilhelm.
At the mention of the fourth prince's name, Bogancio searched and spotted
him sitting next to Jovi on the stands along with a couple of his fellow classmates
from the servant class. He was dressed in an officer uniform, but there was no
mistaking that he was a prince. He sat with such a straight posture and controlled
neutral expression. He had long lashes above his purple eyes. The Prince and Jovi
appeared like one of those perfect couples, sitting side by side. Bogancio frowned
and decided to not look at them anymore.
So, he's the Prince! Dani said with a wide grin. He's pretty handsome!
And intelligent, too, Kandyl added. He has the highest grade average of
the Third Years.
He's not that great, Karenana grumbled.
He's like any other prince really, Bogancio said, also annoyed.
What's with you two? Dani said, looking back and forth between Karenana
and Bogancio.
He's probably a playboy, Bogancio said, shrugging.
Bobo, I'm not sure you of all people should comment on that, Kandyl said
with a giggle.
I hate him, Karenana said, picking up a water bottle for herself.
Aren't you just jealous? Dani said, stretching her arms above her head.
No, Karenana said, defensive. I have real reasons to hate him.
Let's hear them! Dani encouraged.
Karenana drank some water and cleared her throat. He discriminates.
Discriminates? Bogancio and Kandyl reacted simultaneously.
That's right, Karenana said with a firm nod. Wilhelm only talks to the rich,
the powerful, and the intelligent.
No wonder he is with Upperclassman Jovi, Kandyl said in awe.
I don't know, Dani said, studying Karenana's irritated expression. Do you
have any proof? I trust you and everything, Nana, but he seems friendly to me.
Fine, Karenana said. She grabbed a hold of Bogancio's arm. Bobo, go talk
to him.
Why me?
You're not rich, powerful, or intelligent.
Bogancio gaped at her direct words. Even so, why should I?
Just do it, Karenana said, narrowing her blue eyes at him.
Not again, Bogancio said. Right when he was about to submit to
Karenana's wishes, Bogancio noticed Dani frowning at him. Suddenly, he recalled
what he talked about earlier with Dani about strength in numbers. Actually, Nana,
I don't want to.
You don't want to? Karenana said, gazing intensely at him.
This is a stupid rivalry between you and him, Bogancio said, feeling his
heart race. Karenana was not blinking at him. Leave me out of it.
Bobo doesn't want to do it, Dani said, backing Bogancio up as promised.
You shouldn't force him, Nana.
No one's forcing him, Karenana said, finally removing her eyes off

Bogancio. Whatever. Candy, I want to show you something I found yesterday.

Okay, Nana! Kandyl chirped, linking arms with Karenana and following her
to a separate table.
Bogancio whirled on Dani with wide eyes. I-It worked, Dan!
That went unexpectedly well, Dani said. She laughed out loud and clapped
Bogancio against the shoulder. We're lucky this time around since Candy is too
passive in this particular scenario and Blaire is not here at all.
Luck or not, Bogancio said, full of happiness. He punched the air. I did it! I
stood up against Nana!
You always had it in you, Bobo, Dani said as they shared a high five.
Bogancio grinned at Dani. Thanks, Dan.
Anytime!
In the meantime, since the Track Team proceeded to jog laps around the
school, Jovi and Wilhelm decided that they should head back to their rooms now.
Wilhelm noticed Jovi's delighted face and chuckled. Jovi blushed and glanced in
his direction.
You are enjoying yourself today, Lady Jovi, Wilhelm said.
I remembered the first time I met Bogancio.
Oh? Do tell.
Jovi smiled. He ran as fast as he could away from his attackers and
accidentally hid in my practice room. I am pleased to watch him using his talents
for our school instead.
Bogancio is quite the servant, Wilhelm said. He lifted himself up from the
seat. Jovi followed suit. I have never seen fellow classman Karenana like this
before. Wilhelm released a chuckle. Not only is she dressed in a different attire,
she gives Bogancio such Wilhelm slowed down his words with a content smile
on his face, beautiful, lively expressions.
Oh, yes, Jovi said in awe. The servants stayed a close distant behind Jovi
and Wilhelm on their walk down the stairs. Fellow classman Karenana appears to
be getting along extremely well with Bogancio and his other girlfriends.
I can see that, Wilhelm said, amused. How unexpected.
Why is it unexpected? Jovi said, slightly lost.
Wilhelm glanced at a couple members of the Track Team passing by outside
the school fence. I had the pleasure of knowing fellow classman Karenana since
First Year and she never came off as a team player. She preferred figuring out
everything on her own.
Jovi thought about Wilhelm's words for a while before she replied, Maybe
neither of us knew her as well as her current company.
If so, Wilhelm said. I am curious to what she's really like these days.
***
That Friday night, Master Ian called Bogancio and Callie to his room. Much to
the Fool's dismay, Master Ian informed them about an important dinner outing
that they must attend. The Fool groaned at the thought of dressing up nicely.
Callie seemed too excited for his liking. She loved every opportunity to dress up
and rub elbows with rich people, it seemed. On their way back to their rooms,
Bogancio nudged her and lifted a brow.
Happy doesn't suit you, Pinkhead, Bogancio said.
Callie fumed. Shut up, Fool! Callie took in a deep breath and clasped her

hands. I can't wait! We are eating dinner with Prince Wilhelm!

Prince Wilhelm? Bogancio repeated. His mood got worse. Why him?
It is not unusual for the Prince to arrange dinner meetings with various
noble families.
Bogancio thought about what Karenana said about the first ranked Third
Year. Oh, yeah. Of course, he would like to eat dinner with Master Ian. It's Master
Ian after all.
I have seen the Prince from a distance, Callie said, hugging herself. But
to think that I will have the pleasure to sit at the same table as him!
He's a prince, Bogancio said, shrugging. Chances are we'll be eating with
his servants instead. Why would we be eating at the same table?
Callie gasped. That is true. Callie slapped her cheeks lightly. Wake up,
Callie! Know yourself and your position! It is enough that you are in the presence
of the Fourth Prince in the first place. Do not get ahead of yourself.
So what if we're servants? Bogancio growled. Princes are only born into
their positions. What's so great about that?
Bogancio, Callie said in a warning tone. Do not speak of such nonsense.
What if Master gets in trouble for your loud mouth?
I know, Bogancio said, groaning. I have to behave in front of that stupid
prince.
The Prince is not stupid, Callie said defensively. He's first ranked, unlike
you who can't even pass your midterms the first time.
Shut up, Bogancio said, pinching her cheek without warning. Tests don't
mean shit!
Well, too bad! Callie said, pulling herself away from Bogancio. She rubbed
her red cheek. Having a good education determines your future in this world!
Callie lifted her chin up and walked away. Make sure you keep your mouth shut,
Fool! You might have been lucky the last couple of times, but your luck will run out
eventually.
Whatever, Bogancio said after her. He sighed and headed back to his
room by himself. It was moments like this that Bogancio treasured Andy Blaire's
valuable companionship. Standing in front of his room, Bogancio thought to
himself, What does Jovi see in that man?
***
The day of the dinner meeting came too quickly for Bogancio. Since there
was a high chance that Kandyl would cook dinner and visit him over the weekend,
Bogancio made sure she knew he was not going to be in, which also meant Dani
and Karenana would know as well through their social system. It was only during
these rare occasions that he actually thought for someone other than himself. Of
course, the Fool was too absorbed in his own problems to notice how he had
already changed thanks to his relationship with his four girlfriends. It was
understandable. How could he reflect when he was currently being suffocated in a
suit?
Have you even met this guy before? Bogancio said to Ian on the carriage
ride to the high-class restaurant miles away from campus.
Ian was sitting next to Callie and across from Bogancio. You mean the
Prince?
Yeah, that guy.

Fool! Ian said sternly. Show more respect! He's the fourth Prince, fourth in
line to the throne of our nation!
Bogancio groaned. Who cares! It's not like he can hear us.
Maybe the Prince can, Callie said. She was currently wearing a short pink
dress with white frills on the hem and no sleeves. Her pink hair was pulled back in
a bun. He is a Prince.
If he can, Bogancio said, wrapping his arms across his chest stubbornly. I
would have been dead already.
Bogancio! Callie gasped.
Ian looked furious. What have you done this time, Fool?
Everyone's so serious, said Bogancio, closing his eyes for a good rest.
When the Castillo family arrived at the restaurant, Callie woke Bogancio up.
The Fool wiped his eyes and searched for his Master. However, Ian had already left
the carriage a while ago. Callie grumbled alongside Bogancio as they attempted
to catch up to Ian. The young lord of the Castillo Family tossed Bogancio a
warning glance, in which the Fool recoiled and lingered further behind Callie.
The Fourth Prince booked the entire second floor of the restaurant. When
the attendants up front told the Castillo family this, Bogancio scoffed it off while
Callie held her hands together in anticipation. Ian's excitement about this meeting
evaporated the moment he met a pair of familiar silver eyes when they reached
the top of the stairs. Callie froze in place. Not paying attention, Bogancio
accidentally passed by his Master and failed to notice everyone else had stopped
moving at the unspoken meeting.
Fool, Callie said in a fierce yet hushed tone.
Yeah? Bogancio said over his shoulder. He noticed Master Ian and another
male in an intense staring contest. I was not aware there would be other guests
here.
Good evening, Ian, said the blue-haired boy in an unfriendly voice.
Good evening, Jeremy, said Ian in a similar voice.
I was not expecting your presence this evening, Jeremy said carefully.
Neither was I, said Ian. This is quite a surprise.
Clueless to what was going on, Bogancio returned to Ian's side and stayed
there awkwardly. The Fool kept his mouth shut since he knew he had already
messed up by walking ahead of Ian earlier. But that name! There was no doubt
about it. Bogancio heard the name Jeremy before, but from where? When
Bogancio glanced over to Callie for help, he was caught off guard; Callie appeared
more tense than usual.
Ah! Wilhelm appeared in between Ian and Jeremy. Everyone has arrived
safely. Nice of you to join us, young lord Ian Castillo.
Thank you, your Highness, Ian said.
And thank you for waiting patiently, young Lord Jeremy Oswald.
The honor is mine, your Highness, Jeremy said, bowing slightly.
The Oswald family! Bogancio recognized the family name immediately. For
as long as he'd stayed by Ian's side, he heard about the animosity between the
Castillo family and the Oswald family. Callie explained to him before that the
Castillo and Oswald families were two separate branches of the same lineage.
They had been fighting over the same piece of land for years now. Bogancio
wanted nothing to do with this so he kept himself out on purpose. Admittedly, he

had met the Lord and Lady of the Oswald family before, but he couldn't seem to
recall Jeremy at all from his memory. Then again, his memory wasn't that reliable.
I recall informing both of you to bring along your two most trusted
servants, Wilhelm said. Callie changed quickly from anxiety to happiness at
Master Ian. May you be so kind as to introduce them to me?
As you wish, your Highness, Ian and Jeremy said simultaneously.
Wilhelm wore a charming smile. How about you take the lead, young Lord
Jeremy?
The blue-haired noble motioned for his servants to hurry over. Bogancio
found himself admiring at the young lady standing across from him. Most likely
around his age, Jeremy's servant owned ebony-black hair, dark green eyes, and
rouge lips. She wore a red kimono with white floral patterns and a single golden
sash around her midriff. She came off as whiter than she actually was because of
the heavy makeup on her, especially the powder and black mascara. Bogancio
could not take his eyes off her until Jeremy started the introductions.
I am happy to introduce my two beautiful twin servants, Mei-Lien and DaoMing, Jeremy said with a wide smile. Mei-Lien is a dancer while Dao-Ming is a
singer. They can both play various traditional instruments and are often the
source of entertainment for our parties.
Before the introduction, Bogancio failed to notice the other servant girl, but
now that he paid attention to her, she was equally beautiful to her sister. They
were obviously sisters since they carried the same sharp eyes, but they were by
no means identical twins. The sister standing across from Callie had shorter hair
and wore a purple kimono instead. They wore identical neutral and cold
expressions though.
Nice to meet you, your Highness, said the longer-haired twin. My name is
Mei-Lien. She bowed deeply to him.
The shorter-haired twin bowed next. It is an honor to meet you, your
Highness. My name is Dao-Ming. Please take care of me.
Bogancio wrote a mental note to identify the sisters. It would be a lot of
trouble for Master Ian if he accidentally mixed up the two girls. Mei-Lien was the
one he had been keeping his eye on since the beginning. Her sister Dao-Ming also
interested him since he found most women fascinating and beautiful, but not as
much. Bogancio was not sure why though.
A pleasure to meet you both, Wilhelm returned their greeting and bowed
down as well. Wilhelm exchanged a couple of words with both girls before he
moved on over to Ian. What about you, young Lord Ian? Who are these two lovely
servants of yours?
This young lady is my personal maid, Callie, Ian said, choosing to
introduce Callie first.
Thank you for having Callie, your Highness, Callie said sweetly. Bogancio
wanted to gag.
Ian angled his body to Bogancio now. And this is-
Your fool, Bogancio, said Wilhelm automatically. Bogancio straightened up
at the mention. His name is quite legendary.
So is yours, Bogancio said with a wide grin. He automatically recalled his
conversation with Karenana about Wilhelm. Let's get along well, your Highness.
That is without a doubt, Wilhelm said with a firm nod.

Much to Bogancio's expectations and Callie's disappointment, the four

servants sat at a table by themselves while the three nobles along with Prince
Wilhelm's personal bodyguard chatted at another table a few feet away. Like
before, Bogancio faced Mei-Lien directly with Callie next to him. Upon closer
inspection, Bogancio noticed a beauty mark on Mei-Lien's cheek. The Fool smiled
at the discovery. Even if Dao-Ming cut her hair and wear an identical kimono to
Mei-Lien, he wouldn't confuse the two.
Callie left something in the carriage, Callie said right when the sisters
picked up their identical menus. How careless of Callie! Callie got up to her feet.
Bogancio, would you help Callie search? Callie will find it faster that way.
Usually, Bogancio would tell Callie to go to hell, but not this time. Instead,
Bogancio glanced in Mei-Lien's direction before he also stood up. The sisters
watched them in silence as Bogancio and Callie left the restaurant altogether.
Bogancio whined about his stomach the entire time, but Callie remained quiet
until they were back inside the carriage.
Fool, Callie said under her breath.
What?
I have a bad feeling about those sisters.
Bogancio frowned. They're just entertainers?
I know them from before, said Callie.
Where? A servant club?
Callie grimaced. They are First Years at our school.
Really? Bogancio said, excited. I should say hi.
Don't get ahead of yourself, Fool, Callie said with a glare. I'm not done.
Yeah, yeah, Pink head.
Callie lowered her eyes. Usually, servants attend the same school as their
Masters. It's more convenient for the entire household. They can travel together
for breaks and they can mutually look out for each other. Callie lifted her eyes.
But Jeremy Oswald goes to a different school.
Maybe our school offers a better music and dance program? Bogancio
suggested.
They're spies, Callie said immediately. They chose our school because
Prince Wilhelm and Master are there.
Bogancio shook his head. Er, if so, why would Jeremy reveal their identities
to you then? Knowing that you will recognize them?
To intimidate us, Callie growled.
That's stupid, Bogancio said, fed up. What's the point of spying if the
enemy knows who the spies are? Face it, Pinkhead. Bogancio opened the door to
the carriage since they weren't actually searching for anything and he groaned
from the hunger. You're just jealous.
Bogancio upset Callie, but they both pretended to be fine with one another
as they rejoined the two dark-haired girls at the table. Even without meaning to,
the Fool could not help himself but keep a close eye on Mei-Lien and Dao-Ming.
No, he did not believe Callie's words. She had no proof. But he could not disregard
her suspicions. Back on the streets, suspicions kept Bogancio on his toes and
alive.
Have you found the object you left behind? Mei-Lien said to Callie.
Callie beamed and held up a pin, Yes! Thank you very much for asking!

Thank goodness, Mei-Lien said with a sweet smile.

Have you girls ordered? Bogancio said, using this opportunity to join the
conversation.
Not yet, Dao-Ming said. She picked up the menu, as if she had forgotten it.
We wouldn't dare order before our seniors. Dao Ming allowed one eye visible
behind the menu. Isn't that right, Upperclassmen?
Bogancio sensed coldness from her, but grinned as if nothing happened.
Let's get along then! We're classmates!
Yes! Callie said, feigning happiness. Let's!
As the sisters discussed among themselves what they should order,
Bogancio stared at the incomprehensible words. Really. Didn't this happen before?
Bogancio groaned inwardly. What was with restaurants and their tendency to use
foreign words to describe dishes? Usually, Andy Blaire would take care of his order
for him, knowing fully well what his tastes are. But Andy Blaire wasn't even
anywhere near him right now.
Is everyone ready to order? The waiter asked what felt like a few seconds
later.
Yes, please, said the three girls at the table.
Er, Bogancio said, unsure. Should he just pick randomly?
What would you like to eat, Bogancio? Seafood? Chicken? Or maybe tofu?
Mei-Lien said, unexpectedly coming to his rescue.
Seafood, Bogancio said slowly. He rarely had the luxury to eat seafood,
even with Master Ian. He could feel Callie's disapproval without looking at her, but
ignored her. But I like everything really.
Then, I would suggest number sixty-three, Mei-Lien said.
Number sixty-three?
Mei-Lien pulled down his menu from his face and pointed to the item on the
fourth page. Hot pot. Bogancio had no idea what that was. As if reading his
mind, Mei-Lien continued, It's a sharing dish. There's a hot pot in the middle and
you place whatever you like into the boiling water to cook. The ingredients range
from vegetables to fish to fresh meat. Even tofu! Mei-Lien tapped her fingers
together. I believe this is a great compromise.
Isn't a hot pot too much for one person to finish? Dao-Ming said to MeiLien.
I have a bottomless stomach, Bogancio said, feeling some sort of
animosity from Dao-Ming to Mei-Lien for some reason. I'll have that then.
After the other three ordered their respective dishes, Mei-Lien passed out
napkins and chopsticks for everyone. Bogancio picked his pair up awkwardly. At
the baffled expression on his face, Mei-Lien traded his chopsticks for forks instead.
The movements of her hand were so graceful that Bogancio could not stop
staring.
It's been a while since I've seen that dish, Mei-Lien muttered to herself.
The hot pot? Bogancio said curiously.
Mei-Lien nodded. I haven't had some since I was a child.
Why didn't you order it then? Bogancio said.
I am currently undergoing a strict diet, Mei-Lien said, but she smiled
gently at Bogancio. She wore a slight blush on her painted white face. But thank
you.

Makes sense, Bogancio said, relaxing in his seat. You're a dancer and all.
Dancer, yes, said Mei-Lien under her breath.
One by one, everyone's dishes arrived on top of shiny golden plates.
Bogancio's hot pot arrived last and yet, it took up most of the table. Callie tried
her best not to blow up at Bogancio in front of the sisters. For a moment,
Bogancio thought all hostility around the table went away when Dao-Ming picked
up one of his raw meat with her chopsticks. She threw a wary glance in his
direction, giving her a different atmosphere to her sister.
You have quite a variety to choose from, Dao-Ming commented.
Bogancio thought she was being quite random. Yeah. Well, people cook
different dishes for a reason, right? Bogancio snorted at Dao-Ming's unimpressed
expression. Might as well eat and enjoy them.
I suppose this philosophy of yours apply in all areas, Dao-Ming said.
Er, said Bogancio. He could sense that she was attacking him of
something, but what?
What my sister means to say is that she admires your ability to not be
picky, Mei-Lien intercepted before Bogancio could reply.
It's not an ability, Bogancio said, though grateful for Mei-Lien for making
this conversation less awkward than it had been so far. Food's food. How do you
live otherwise?
But the Fool doesn't like to eat boar heads? Callie said.
Bogancio paled at the memory of his double date with Callie, Ian, and
Karenana in the past. Okay. Fine. Bogancio made an upset face. Nothing with
eyes please.
Mei-Lien accidentally laughed. Dao-Ming tossed her a glare. The awkward
atmosphere Dao-Ming managed to create vanished in an instant thanks to her
own sister. For the rest of the night, Bogancio talked about food. He decided not to
start any polarizing topics from women to his past life because he kept in mind
what Callie told him about the sisters in the carriage. To Bogancio, food was a
neutral enough topic. There was no possible way he could mess this up.
Finally, the dinner meeting came to an end between the two nobles and the
Prince. Everyone met up at the door to exchange last greetings. From the looks of
things, Ian and Jeremy wanted nothing to do with one another. Prince Wilhelm
pretended to be oblivious towards their hostility as he chatted merrily with them.
Oh, one more request, young Lord Ian, said Wilhelm.
Yes, your Highness?
Wilhelm motioned at Bogancio. May I perhaps borrow your Fool for a couple
of minutes?
Everyone turned their eyes to Bogancio at the same time as if he were a
criminal. Then again, with all the stealing in the past, the Fool was already a
criminal. Of course, no one knew this but Master Ian. Still, Bogancio disliked every
pair of eyes on him so he laughed it off.
In trouble again, Bogancio said after he stopped laughing.
I apologize for whatever my Fool has done to displease you, your
Highness, Ian said abruptly, lowering his head.
I'm my own person, Bogancio said sternly to Ian. It has nothing to do with
you, Master.
It has everything to do with me. Ian swayed his eyes over to Bogancio. I

am an incompetent Master.
No one is an incompetent Master, Wilhelm spoke up.
Jeremy seemed disappointed, but no one noticed except Bogancio who
stood directly in front of the other noble.
Your Highness? Ian said, uncertain.
The Prince flashed a charming smile. I wish to speak to Bogancio about a
personal issue of mine, if it is all right with you, young Lord Ian.
Always, Ian said, backing away.
Good night and thank you for joining me this evening, said Wilhelm.
Jeremy and his group left first. Callie gave Bogancio one hard look that
obviously told him not to screw up. As for Ian, he seemed to be lost in thoughts as
he left ahead of Callie without saying anything to Bogancio. Now, Bogancio was
worried. Surely, they wouldn't return to school without him right? Ian would never
force him to walk back alone.
As if reading his thoughts, Wilhelm said, I have already made prior
arrangements for us to return to our school together, Bogancio.
Thanks, Bogancio said quickly. Standing felt weird for him.
Shall we then? Wilhelm said with his arm outstretched.
Now? Bogancio said, surprised.
Wilhelm smiled generously. I can assure you our chat will last the ride
back.
As expected of a Prince, his carriage had softer seats and more leg room.
Even the ride appeared smoother. Inside, the Prince sat alone with Bogancio and
one of the Prince's servants on the opposite side. His servant was a young, skinny
man with an expressionless face. Bogancio checked the plushy seats as Wilhelm
relaxed.
So, Bogancio said at last. Why am I here, your Highness?
Wilhelm brushed the blond hair from his eyes. Wilhelm is fine.
Er, I don't want to be killed, said Bogancio.
You call Lady Jovi by her first name, no?
At the mention of Jovi, Bogancio remembered his distaste for the Prince.
Bogancio had to tread carefully though. He must not show his dislike. If anything
happened to the Prince, he would be the number one suspect. More importantly,
Master Ian's reputation was on the line here. Sure, Bogancio considered himself a
reckless person, who caused endless trouble for Master Ian on a regular basis. But
nothing would come close to disrespecting someone who had the power to kill you
at a single command.
I do, Bogancio said, being more cautious of his speech now. We are
friends.
Yes, I am aware.
Bogancio forced a smile. If the Prince knew, it must mean he could tell from
that one time he and Jovi watched Bogancio during Track practice or Jovi informed
him herself. A part of Bogancio wanted it to be the latter so badly. Of course, the
Fool knew there was no way of knowing for sure. It wasn't a question one would
ask a Prince.
Wilhelm coughed at the uncomfortable silence. About Lady Jovi. I wish to
speak to you about her in particular.
Nothing is going on with Jovi and me, Bogancio said, feeling the color

leaving his face. Wilhelm must be suspicious of him.

Do not worry, Bogancio. Wilhelm laughed, shaking his head. Everyone is
always so timid and formal around me. I assumed from your infamous reputation
that you would be different.
This could potentially be a trap so Bogancio said, It's a sign of respect, your
Highness.
But your Highness can be my father or my other brothers...
Bogancio lifted a brow at the Prince's escaped sigh and decided to risk it
since he wanted to know more about Jovi. Prince Wilhelm, then.
That's better, Wilhelm said, satisfied.
If I may ask, Bogancio said. He had to at least try to sound formal. It was
harder than Bogancio expected. Why am I being singled out?
I want to know what you think of Lady Jovi.
I am a fool, Prince Wilhelm, Bogancio said. The reminder was
unnecessary, but Bogancio could not think of another way to tackle this. My
opinion of her doesn't matter.
I beg to differ, Wilhelm said. It matters the most.
Bogancio frowned. I don't get it.
I am interested in the way you look at her.
She's beautiful, said Bogancio. This line could not possibly get him in
trouble. Anyone with good eyesight could see that. Much to his relief, Wilhelm
nodded in agreement. And talented and gentle and nice. Bogancio paused.
Even if Prince Wilhelm is a Prince, I don't see why I should answer your question.
Seems random and has nothing to do with anything.
Laughing again, Wilhelm said, You are now showing your true colors.
I'm wearing the same colors? Bogancio said, perplexed.
Wilhelm held back his laughter. After he calmed down, he continued, Fair
enough. The reason why I ask such a question is because besides being a Prince, I
am also a friend. Lady Jovi is a dear friend of mine. We have known each other
since we were six.
Has she always been that beautiful? Bogancio couldn't help himself.
Oh, yes, Wilhelm said.
Dang. I want to see that.
Now that I have explained myself, would you care to expand on your
previous answer?
Bogancio eyed the Prince warily. If I get an answer of my own.
What is it?
What's your younger brother like?
Wilhelm's eyes widened slightly since he understood who Bogancio was
referring to. It was no secret that his younger brother was engaged to Ian's
younger sister, Genevieve. For Bogancio to risk asking him of all people about the
Fifth Prince, Bogancio must share a strong bond with the younger Castillo sibling.
Wilhelm's smile widened. Yes, there was no doubt about it now- he could trust this
servant.
Wilhelm kept his eyes closely on Bogancio's face. My younger brother does
not share the same birth mother as mine. I do not know him as well as I should.
Wilhelm noticed Bogancio's face fell slightly. But I do recall that he is a strange
and unhappy fellow. He's a solitary.

What's that?
A solitary is someone who prefers to be by himself.
The opposite of Mistress Genevieve.
I heard, Wilhelm said with a kind smile. She loves horseback riding.
Yeah, Bogancio said sadly. He could almost see it. She hates being
lonely.
Now that I have done my part, Wilhelm said. I wish to know exactly how
you see my friend, Lady Jovi. I am curious as to your feelings towards her.
Bogancio frowned. He could not decide whether to say the whole truth, half
of the truth, or a safe lie. After all, he was basically handing his rival free
information to use against him. This must be the real reason why Wilhelm brought
him here in the first place. Otherwise, why would a Prince like him speak to a
servant like Bogancio?
Jovi is very sweet to me. I would have never expected someone like her to
be kind to be someone like me. She's like a breath of fresh air from all the other
rich girls. I enjoy her company and she enjoys mine. I like her a lot. I hope we can
remain friends.
Wilhelm looked sadden. That makes sense.
What does?
You already have three girlfriends. It must take a lot of time, energy, and
affection to equally dispute to them all.
I have four, Bogancio said. He couldn't help but correct Wilhelm.
You have four girlfriends? Wilhelm said in disbelief. Bogancio nodded
clumsily. Wilhelm smirked now. Impressive.
For the first time, Bogancio felt at ease with the Prince. Yeah, thanks.
My father only married three wives, Wilhelm explained. You're better than
the King.
Since Bogancio could tell from Wilhelm's tone that he was joking, Bogancio
laughed and then, said, The King must pick more carefully, unlike a poor servant
like me right?
You are surprisingly modest, Bogancio, Wilhelm said. How can you
underplay yourself when you are dating fellow classman, Karenana?
Nana?
The coach stopped. The servant automatically stood up and opened the
door. Bogancio nearly jumped at the sight and sound of the forgotten servant.
Wilhelm offered to accompany Bogancio to his room, but Bogancio declined. There
was no way in hell he wanted to be caught with Wilhelm in front of the other male
students or even worse, Karenana. But thoughts of Wilhelm or Karenana went
away when Bogancio spotted a new pink letter sticking out of his box. He pulled it
out quickly and folded it. Genevieve was really going to get engaged to someone
like that Fifth Prince...
Bobo! Kandyl waved from a distance after he turned a corner.
Kandyl? What was she doing here? Bogancio checked the walls. This was the
Boys' Dormitory right? After he rushed over to her, Kandyl jumped into his arms
and demanded how his day went. At the sight of Karenana and Dani further down
the hallway, Bogancio finally grasped the situation. While Andy Blaire was out of
town, she must have given the key to her room to one of them. They must had
been hanging out together in Andy Blaire's room this entire time, waiting for him

to return. In other words, they were substituting for Andy Blaire.

What have you girls been doing? Bogancio said, stepping into the familiar
room Andy Blaire slept in.
Yo Bobo! Dani said with a wide grin. We've been working out.
Working out?
Candy and I have decided to improve our stamina so Dan helped,
Karenana said.
Kandyl snuggled close to Bogancio's arm. Dan also thought of a new diet
for Nana and me. I can't wait to be a super cute athlete!
You're always cute, Candy, Bogancio said automatically.
Kandyl blushed bright red. Bobo!
What's that? Dani said, pointing at the pink letter in Bogancio's hand.
Oh, Bogancio said. He had forgotten it altogether. About that...
The other two girls gathered around Bogancio and Kandyl. Yes?
Say there's a friend you know who is in an arranged marriage and you
don't think her partner is right for her... Bogancio said slowly. Why did he care so
much all of a sudden? And why did he believe Wilhelm's words. What should you
do?
Stop it! Kandyl said automatically.
Er, Bogancio said. What if stopping the marriage means you'll be hang?
Dani wrapped her arms in front of her chest. Can't your friend just cheat on
her husband while married? No big deal.
You amaze me sometimes, Karenana said to Dani.
Aw! Thanks Nana!
It wasn't a compliment.
Oh, shucks. You got my hopes up.
Anyways, Karenana said, returning her attention to Bogancio. Your
hypothetical situation is most likely related to that pink envelope in your hand.
Bogancio hid the sight of it to no avail. If so, wouldn't it be a better course of
action to simply give us the necessary details to figure out a plan for you, Bobo?
Bogancio glanced at Kandyl, who already knew about the pink letters.
Kandyl gave Bogancio a reassuring smile that she wouldn't say anything. In the
past, Bogancio had relied on Karenana and the others to help him solve his issues.
It almost because a certainty that they would always take care of him no matter
what. Usually, it was fine, but this time, it bothered him.
It's too personal this time, Bogancio said under his breath.
Karenana was not impressed. Our first night together was probably more
personal.
That's your choice, not mine.
There shouldn't be any secrets between us, said Karenana, raising her
voice.
Now, now, guys! Dani said. If Bobo feels that this is something he cannot
share with us in excessive details, let's just go with what we know, okay? Dani
winked at Bogancio. We're not his Masters. We're his girlfriends. There's a big
difference!
Thanks, Dan, Bogancio said gratefully to Dani.
Karenana sighed. Whatever.
Bogancio gasped at his first girlfriend. Karenana backed down again?

Thanks to this short break in between all the talking, Kandy released her grip from
Bogancio and decided to speak up her thoughts. It was for the best. She was the
only one who could figure out why Bogancio was so uncomfortable with revealing
the letter in the first place.
If that person is super important to me, Kandyl said in a deeper and more
serious voice than usual. No matter what the consequences are, I will help her
because that is the right thing to do and I care about her.
But if you have to risk your life... Bogancio said, uncertain.
Kandyl gripped Bogancio's arm and gazed intensely into his eyes. Some
decisions are worth risking your life for.
The idea of risking your life for anything was foreign and absurd to
Bogancio. His entire life, he preferred the comforts of security over anything else.
However, Kandyl's moving words persuaded him... if only a little. Bogancio
decided not to burn that pink letter in his hands just yet.

Episode 8: The Lady

I know her! She's Hime!
Bogancio, please help me. I am uncertain how I should express my feelings in the
appropriate manner.
I have no time for love. I am also in an arranged marriage.
