An Interpretation of the Novel


Petrijas Venac: Literary Work
as an Ethno-Dialectic Text
A novel could be interpreted at many
different levels. This paper points out to a possible

Mihailovic - Petrijas Venac - as an example. In

addition, the argument is strengthening by data and

attitudes from individuals belonging to the Serbian
contents plan
ethno-linguistic school of thought. The novel Petrijas
Venac offers a number of typical linguistic and speech
particulars from the given geographic area. We leave it to the future, to ethnolinguists and ethnologists to judge if such a work, interpreted in this way, could
serve as a valid and equal ethno-linguistic source. It appears, though, this is not just
a pretentious conclusion, since the novel presents valuable sources that should not
be neglected by any discipline.
