WORKING.

(1) a) Write in standard form and correct to 3 s.f. (significant figures) :(i) 0.0706 (ii) 1.999 (iii) 8336 (iv) 0.00006814

b) Write as an ordinary number :(i) 5.6 x 10-2 (ii) 2.1 x 103

(iii) 4.316 x 100 (11 marks)

(2) A triangle P has the following dimensions, (1,1) , (3,1) and (3,4). Use a scale of
2cm to represent 1 unit for both axis. Your x-axis should range from - 4 to 6 and your y-axis should range from - 4 to 4. (a) Draw triangle P (b) Reflect triangle P in the x-axis and name the image Q 4 (c) Translate Q through 5 and name it R.

(d) Triangle S has the following dimensions, (2, 0), (5, -2) and (2, -2). Name the necessary transformation to map triangle P into triangle S and give the necessary information related to this transformation. (15 marks)

(3) Construct the following figures using a ruler and a pair of compasses only :All measurements must be shown on your construction. D C 60 6 cm A 10 cm B

Bisect angle A and produce this bisector to meet BC at P.

Measure the length of AP.

(4) Draw a possibility space to show the outcomes when two dice are rolled
together. One dice is normal but the other has the following numbers on its faces:1, 2, 3, 3, 4 and 5. Use this possibility space to find the probability that the: (a) (b) (c) (d) total score of the two dice is 9 total score of the two dice is 6 or less difference between the two scores (dice 1 minus dice 2 or vice-versa) is 3 product of the score of dice 1 and dice 2 is equal to 40

(6) Plot the coordinates (0,0) , (5,0) and (5,7) using a scale of 1cm : 1unit.
Complete the diagram given that the shape has rotational symmetry of order 4 (7) In a school, 90% of the students follow after school courses in accounts or technical design or both. If 82% follow the accounts course and 28% follow the technical design course, what percentage follow:a) b) c) d) none of the after school courses accounts course only technical design course only both courses?
