Elmore County Elementary Schools' Art Show: Hallmarks of creativity & talent
About Us
One of the first of over 2000 works of art by Elmore County's Elementary School students, was the pink castle by Britt Bass-Holtville Elementary School.
The Arts Center is a volunteer based, community supported organization that derives its funding from public
and private donations, contributions, grants, benefactors and the proceeds from memberships, Artist Space, events. Rentals, Gallery Art Sales and special
Eclectic Art Teacher Jennifer Ellis was the organizer and coordinator of the Elementary Students' Art Show, held March 22-31 at the Alabama River Region Arts Center. Over 2000 individual pieces of artwork were collected from the schools in the Elmore County School District. Selected works were placed in frames and displayed in the hallway and the (appropriately named) Van Gogh Room. Many parents and their young artists attended the opening of the show on Thursday night, March 22. Proving that children of any age can accomplish great things with the right tools (and even burnt out, dried up markers) and a paint brush and water, the Arts Center walls were transformed with amazing color, form, and best of all, imagination. The work mounted to the walls, will remain up until the week of May 7th. Stop by to see what is inspiring our younger artists. Their work is scattered throughout this issue.
