Do you agree? Why? Do you disagree? Why? Give reasons for your answer. Complete the Following Outline I. Introduction

General Statements Because Colombia lives in a constant struggle for change and development, our country had to opt for the Free Trade Agreement negotiations with the United States. Colombia and the United States signed this agreement with the main purpose of reducing and eliminating trade barriers, which would make it easier for the two countries to import and export goods and services more freely between each other. When NAFTA start working in Colombia, Nario will be affected by this agreement, and it will improve our regional development by reducing the level of unemployment. (Thesis Statement) As a result, The North American Free

Trade Agreement with Colombia will increase employment because new factories will be created in the Department of Nario.

Topic sentence and controlling idea: The unemployment will be reduced because the NAFTA will give the chance to create new factories, and it will generate jobs over the long term. Sentence that supports the topic sentence (point 1): Because the NAFTA promotes domestic and foreign investment in Nario, to our region will begin to arrive new industries seeking to produce goods efficiently, so many people will be hired by this factories. Example 1: (Sentence that explains point 1): NAFTA encourage the production of the goods that a particular economy can produce most efficiently; consequently, both domestic and foreign industries will look to Nario as a strategic area to produce potatoes and dairy products; thus, big new industries will be founded in Nario, increasing the employment in these sectors at the same time. Example 2: (sentence that explains point 1) For example, country people could be hired by the branch office of Dean Foods from United States, because they will have to exploit large quantities of dairy products, and they will need enough staff to do that work. Sentence that supports the topic sentence (point 2): In addition, Colombian government has promised to provide financial support to create industry and reinforce current industries; therefore, common people might create their own businesses and generate more jobs. Example 1: (sentence that explains point 2): As a result, local workers will have the opportunity to develop their own products with the help of subsidies, and it will lead to introduce new industries in the competitive international commerce. Example 2: (Sentence that explains point 2): For instance, small industries of Nario like Paja Toquilla business will receive subsidies to compete in the international market, and they will have to hire more people to work in its factories.

CONCLUSION

The evidence shows that The North American Free Trade Agreement with Colombia will increase employment because with this agreement many factories will be created in our region. NAFTA has a considerable benefit to the department of Nario because it will reduce the unemployment and it will allow achieving important changes to get development for the department of Nario.
