Academic Requirements

A recognised first degree, Bachelor of Science or Engineering or equivalent with GPA above average

Language Requirements

You are fluent in English (TOEFL PB 550/ CB 213/ IB80 or IELTS 6.0 required). The TOEFL score report must not be older than two years at the enrolment date. For our programs no proof of German language skills is required upon application. Students attend a German language course starting two months prior to the beginning of the program and attend further lessons as part of the Master Program.

Master Programs of RWTH International Academy


The RWTH Aachen International Academy is a non-profit subsidiary company of RWTH Aachen University. In close cooperation with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering the Academy offers four master programs, particularly designed to meet the needs of international students. The Academys responsibility enfolds organizational, administrative and economic aspects, whereupon the scientific leadership lies with Aachen University, which awards the academic degree "Master of Science". To ensure an excellent working environment for the master students, the Academy provides additional support for all academic, organizational and social matters. Therefore two organisations have been established the course managers and the Master Office which ensure every day support for the students.

About the Master Programs


The programs focus on all disciplines within Mechanical Engineering, including concept, development, design and construction, as well as the manufacturing process of machines. Their particular focus is on industrial R&D practices and modern manufacturing processes with special emphasis on certain topics, such as the design of machines and structures or production and manufacturing. The programs are also meant to enhance the students ability to lead and coordinate project teams and to strengthen their skills of scientific documentation and communication. The scientific leadership lies with the institutes of RWTH Aachen University. This is how knowledge obtained from ongoing research at Aachen University flows directly into lectures, seminars and workshops, thus ensuring an up-to-date and innovative curriculum. The institutes stand for innovative and customer-oriented work as well as flexibility and punctuality with the highest standards of quality and cost awareness. The programs provide in-depth knowledge and understanding of production technology, production systems, and production-related processes. Mechanical engineers work in a multitude of areas within industry or research departments, including development, design, sales and distribution, quality management and organisation. This M.Sc. is an internationally accepted degree and potentially enables someone to work throughout the world.
