Vegetable Gardening Basics Class Series In collaboration with Minnesota State Horticultural Society and the University of MN Extension Master Gardener Program in Hennepin County, the Kingfield Neighborhood Association Community Gardening Group is offering a FREE 5-week class series on vegetable gardening. The classes are comprised of lectures and hands-on demonstrations. You will receive a certificate upon completion of the class if you attend at least 4 of the 5 classes. Its more than just book-knowledge: 14 registrants for this class who attend 4 of the 5 classes will also receive a free 10 ft. x 10 ft. garden plot for the 2012 growing season at the Sabathani Community Garden at 310 East 38th Street! And if you receive a plot this year, you are first in line for any open permanent plots (10 ft. x 20 ft.) in the Sabathani Community Garden next year. Classes are on 5 consecutive Tuesdays, 6-7:30 PM, beginning April 10 and running through May 8th at Dr. Martin Luther King Park, 4055 Nicollet Avenue South. Topics to be covered: (order subject to change) Building Healthy Soils Growing Vegetables Planning your Garden Maintaining your Garden What to Plant Demonstrations: composting, seeding, weeding and more These classes are provided free to our community; the class is open to up to a maximum of 30 participants. Costs will be covered by sponsors, but we ask for TOTAL COMMITMENT from participants. Classes are taught in English.
