SHIMLA
Set amidst a cool hilly terrain, Shimla is the capital of Himachal

INDO-PAK BORDER, WAGAH
This road crossing between India and Pakistan hosts Border Displays
by the respective armies about 30 minutes before sunrise and

HARIDWAR

Sarnath Temple
SARNATH
Here is the tranquil Deer Park, where Lord Buddha preached his
frst sermon. In later times, Emperor Ashoka erected magnifcent
stupas and buildings at Sarnath, making it an important place of
pilgrimage.

Near the holy city of Gaya, Lord Buddha attained enlightenment or
Bodhi. The tree that had sheltered him came to be known as the
Bodhi Tree and the place - Bodhgaya. There are a number of

RAJGIR
19 km. from Nalanda is Rajgir, the ancient capital of the Magadha
Empire. Lord Buddha often visited the monastery here to meditate
and to preach. Rajgir is also a place sacred to the Jains, since Lord
Mahavira spent many years here.

A great centre of Buddhist learning, Nalanda came into being around
the 5th century BC and was a fourishing university town with over

PURI
One of Indias holiest cities, Puri is famous for the magnifcent
Jagannath Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu or Jagannath - the Lord
of the Universe. Puri is famous for its annual Ratha Yatra, or Festival
of Chariots, typically in the month of July every year.

VAISHALI
Vaishali was one of the earliest republics in the world (6th century
BC). It was here that Buddha preached his last sermon. Vaishali,

Mahabaleshwar is a very popular hill station located at an altitude of
1372 metres. A number of vantage points, excellent views, pretty
waterfalls and a lake with boating and fshing facilities are some of its

Point, Bombay Point, Kates Point and waterfalls like Chinamans Falls

AHMEDABAD
Located on the banks of River Sabarmati, Ahmedabad is one of
Indias major industrial cities. Home of Gandhijis ashram, it hosts
the International Kite Festival every year during January (Makara
Sankranti).
