Welcome to Worship
elcome to New Hope Church, a place for new beginnings! If you are visiting, you will discover a loving, spirit-filled church family. Here is some helpful information as you join us in worship today: All who worship here are equals in the sight of God, regardless of race, age, gender, physical disability or religious affiliation. Communion, when celebrated, is open to all who profess Christ as Lord and Savior, whether affiliated with this church or not. Children may partake of Communion as well, if parents approve. A nursery is available during the service; please see a greeter for directions. (This is for infants and children up to 3 years of age.) Handicap-accessible restrooms are located off the narthex (foyer) and adjacent to the entrance lobby in the Fellowship Hall/Gym. Please remember to sign the attendance folder at your pew so we will have a record of your visit with us today. Thank you for remembering to silence your cell phone during the service. No food or beverages in the sanctuary, please. If you arrived as a visitor we hope that you leave as a friend and worship with us often! New Hope Church exists to: Glorify God in worship and rejoice in our life together; Share the Good News of the Gospel in word and deed; Reach as many as we can with the saving love of Jesus; Help each person grow toward Christian maturity, and find their place of service in the church and in the world.

Church Van Ministry The Session has committed the church to purchase a used van, less than $18,000. On faith, the church will borrow the money to start, and a Van Fund has been established that you can donate to as the Lord leads. The van will have many uses including building the community of believers around our church. New Hope Food Pantry Please dont forget about the Food Pantry that is available for anyone in the community or church family who needs use of it. We need to get this food OUT and into the hands and homes of those who need it. Please see the pastor or Evelyn Price if you know of a need. Youth Worship on Wednesday Nights @ 6:00 at New Hope - teens (grades 7 12) experience a contemporary and motivated style of worship. We have a service with prayer, singing praises to God and a youth-focused sermon that teach the truths from Gods Word in a way teens relate to and understand. Pastor Brad leads this service in the gym and opens the doors for teens to start coming at 5pm to hang out, play games, and talk. A light meal is shared before the service starts. Pastor Brad says, We love hanging out together and worshiping an awesome God! Stephen Ministry is a program that selects and trains laypeople for Christian caregiving. Stephen Ministers in our church are certified and trained to help people go through the many transitions and challenges in life. Our Stephen Ministers serve anyone in need, both within and outside the church. Call the church office if you are interested in receiving care through the Stephen Ministry program. Ministries/Activities Within Our Church

National Day of Prayer, Thursday May 3. Mothers Day is May 13. As in years past, the men of the church will prepare breakfast to honor all the ladies. There will be no Sunday School so that everyone may fellowship together at the breakfast. The Worship Service will follow at 10:00 as usual with an emphasis on Mothers Day. Honor you mother, whether she is living or gone to be with the Lord, by being in church on Mothers Day. th News from the 200 Anniversary Committee We have been telling you about this groups plan to upgrade our Narthex with some new seating and other decorations. This may also include some type of water feature (a fountain or something similar). The seating sections are about $300 for a set of two chairs (and table to go in between). We have a budget of about $1,000 to make our improvements. It would help if church members would like to donate to this project so the church will not be out any money. Please see Robbie Haynes or anyone on the Bicentennial team if you would like to help us out.

Thought for the Week

riving down a country road, I came to a very narrow bridge. In front of the bridge, a sign was posted: "YIELD." Seeing no oncoming cars, I continued across the bridge and to my destination. On my way back, I came to the same one-lane bridge, now from the other direction. To my surprise, I saw another YIELD sign posted. Curious, I thought, "I'm sure there was one posted on the other side." When I reached the other side of the bridge I looked back. Sure enough, yield signs had been placed at both ends of the bridge. Drivers from both directions were requested to give right of way. It was a reasonable and gracious way of preventing a head-on collision. When the Bible commands Christians to "be subject to one another" (Ephesians 5:21) it is simply a reasonable and gracious command to let the other have the right of way and avoid interpersonal head-on collisions. - Stephen P. Beck
