Project Description Linear motors are device which produces linear motion directly without using any additional mechanisms to drive the force from a conventional rotary motor. The force generated is Lorentz type. A simple prototype, which can be used in the moving parts of robotic applications, was successfully developed and the performance was studied in various stages. Specific objectives were achieved in this research project. Development of several prototypes in which can be implemented in robotic applications for the motions of their parts. The performance of the developed prototypes was measured and the modifications were done to optimize the functionality of the final prototype. Use of the PIC microcontroller and inventing suitable methods using an opto-couple setup to increase the controllability of the final prototype. Discussing the future implementations of the developed Linear Motor in robotic applications. Investigating the feasibility of developing a Linear Stepper motor which can be used in robotic applications.

Designing new General Physics Laboratory experiments under the guidanceof the senior lecturer in charge for 1st & 2nd year Physics Laboratories. Proctoring examinations.
