RESPONDING TO THE CALL
Do we truly know the voice of Christ? Do we truly respond to the voice of our shepherd with our own distinctive voice? How often we attempt to imitate those around us, appropriating the response of another member of the flock to Christ. Perhaps we need to balance the image of being sheep of one flock with the image from the second reading, which tells us that we are all children of God. What child has precisely the same interaction with parents as his or her siblings? Instead, they frequently do and say things to distinguish themselves in the eyes of their parents. Whether we use the image of children or of sheep to understand our relationship with Christ, we believe that we are all known and called by name. With this great gift comes a responsibility: to respond to the call with our own distinctive voice, to take time to discern exactly what our call is, to determine precisely what the will of the Father is for each of us. (part 2 of 2)
7. You shall not steal. Have I stolen what is not mine? Have I returned or made restitution for what I have stolen? Do I waste time at work, school or at home? Do I gamble excessively, thereby denying my family of their needs? Do I pay my debts promptly? Do I seek to share what I have with the poor? 8. You shall not bear false witness. Have I lied? Have I gossiped? Have I harmed someones reputation? Have I spoken behind someone elses back? Am I critical, negative, or uncharitable in my thoughts of others? Do I keep secret what should be kept confidential? 9. You shall not desire your neighbors wife. Have I consented to impure thoughts? Have I caused them by impure television, movies, books, magazines or internet? Do I pray at once to banish impure thoughts and temptations? Do I listen to, or engage in, impure conversations or jokes? 10. You shall not desire your neighbors goods. Am I jealous of what other people have? Do I envy other peoples families or possessions? Am I greedy or selfish? Are material possessions the purpose of my life? Do I trust that God will care for all of my material and spiritual needs? An Act of Contrition O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins, because I dread the loss of heaven, and the pains of hell, but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, Who art all good and deserving of all My love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace, to sin no more and to avoid the near occasions of sin. Amen
MUCHAS
GRACIAS
Saying Thank You doesnt seem quite adequate for all your generosity. Saint Vincent De Paul Society would like to extend many, many Thank - Yous to the parishioners, school children and parish organizations who contributed so generously with food and monetary donations. You were the ones who made Easter extra special for the less fortunate in our parish. Also, your Holy Saturday Easter Basket Blessing donations were truly a blessing! Thanks again, dzikujemy, muchas gracias!
