Where to go and who to talk to when your rights are violated
Its your right to know how you should be treated. Discrimination against any University community member is prohibited. This policy applies to students, faculty, staff, and others on or off University property. Prohibited conduct includes but is not limited to the following activities when the conduct is based on race, ethnicity, national origin, veterans status, gender, disability or age: 1. Denial of access to campus resources WHO TO TALK TO: Director of Institutional Diversity 2. Disparate treatment in academic or administrative functions of the institution 3. Verbal or written use of derogatory slurs (includes vandalism, desecration of property and public displays of any kind) 4. Threats or harassment of any kind (also see harassment policy). You may be hearing about this thing people keep referring to as Title IX , but what does it even mean? Well, Im glad you asked! Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 protects people like yourself from discrimination based on sex in education programs and activities that receive federal financial assistance. Examples of the types of discrimination that are covered under Title IX include sexual harassment,

the failure to provide equal opportunity in athletics, and discrimination based on pregnancy. To enforce Title IX, the U.S. Department of Education maintains an Office for Civil Rights, with headquarters in Washington, DC and 12 offices across the United States. Have you ever seen discrimination occur on campus?

The furthest I've seen such actions occur has been from hearing racial jokes made between others but never directed at a certain person. Cody White, Senior Emily White, Junior

I cannot think of anything, but my roommate has seen some discrimination against international students during some of her classes.
