Removing the outeR jACKet

1. About 6 inches from the cable end, score the circumference of the outer cable jacket.

2. Create a slit from to the end of the cable.

3. Flex the scored points and remove the outer jacket.

4. Push the braid back toward the overjacket, creating a bulge in the braid. Where the braid exits the outer jacket, bend the cable over on itself creating an elbow. Using a small screwdriver, create an opening in the braid at the bend elbow.

5. Keeping the braid pushed towards the elbow, push the cable upward through the braid opening.

6. After the cable is pushed through the braid, pull the braid tight. This will be the heater ground wire.

Removing the inneR jACKet

7. Approximately one inch from the braid exit point, score the circumference of the inner jacket.

8. Then score the outer jacket from the circumference cut toward the cable end. Do not cut into the heater core.

9. Flex the scored point and remove the inner jacket, exposing the heater core.

10. Shave the core material from the outside of each bus wire.

11. At the cable end, create a V notch.

12. Using needle nose pliers, grab each bus wire and pull it away from the heater core material. Expose each wire down to the intact inner jacket.

13. Remove the heater core back to the inner jacket.

14. Slide the 1.1 x 8 shrink tube and the x 3 shrink tube over either the heater or power cord and slide them up and out of the way.

15. Prepare the heater cable bus wires and power cord/heater bus wires for insertion into the furnished butt splice connectors. The uninsulated portion of the bus wires should be long enough to insert firmly into the metal portion of the butt connector and still allow the wire insulation to slide into the plastic jacket on the connector.

16. Do not leave exposed conductors outside the splice jacket. Crimp the splice ensuring the wires are held securely.

17. Using the mastic tapes provided, diaper the cable ends between the butt splices

18. Slide the x 3 shrink tube onto the spliced conductors area, pulling the ground wires out and back from the tube. Position the shrink tube over the spliced wires ensuring the ground wires are on the outside of the tube.

19. Use a heat gun to shrink the tube over the spliced area until adhesives run from each end.

20. Place the ground wire and heater baide in the un-insulated barrel connector and crimp them together tightly.

21. Trim off excess heater braid or cord bus wire.

21. Side the 1.1 x 8 heat 22. The splice is complete shrink tube over the entire spliced assembly area, including the ground wires. Heat the shrink tube along its entire length until adhesive runs from each end.
