LITERATURE REVIEW The purpose of this literature review is to analyze and recognize the important issues that are

related to the aims and objectives of this research report in order to understand the role of ICT in curriculum development, the challenges for education for sustainable development as well as the effectiveness of the entire curriculum development. Information Technology has been a change driven agent for the past few decades changing the way things were done traditionally. Technological innovation is now very stable and it is gaining acceptability increasingly in all fields of endeavors education included. IT has been incorporated into Knowledge making it possible to overcome the age long problem of providing information and general lack of access to information which is a serious challenge facing the education world. It is also recognized that teachers finds it somehow difficult to incorporate the valuable opportunities that IT offers into their subject; all efforts has to be made to help the teachers in using the innovation to further drive the impact of their delivery on their subject areas. Education for sustainable growth promotes wealth-being of the society as well as promoting the right of people as well as environmental protection.

Embedding ICT in education Priority should be placed on introduction of information technology into school curriculum because information sharing and use is important to nation building and development. Importance of ICT cannot be over emphasized as it helps in the way people relate, helps literacy development and it helps in the way we communicate our message (Framework for the future steering Committee, Australia, 2003). The application of information technology will help the youth who are the future of a nation in their quest to be more competent in the field they have chosen, to be resourceful and more prolific. The youth like new and challenging adventures as a result of the energy in them. With the usage of information technology, crucial communication

barriers can be broken as well as averting the risk facing the society by proper information sharing on health matters, safety matters and potential risks. Some countries have not been able to blend information technology into the education system of their schools (Gajendran, 2007). Many governments and education policy makers stick with the traditional ways of teaching and passing information to the students. Though, it is understood that there will surely be challenges in the process of bringing these two together; we therefore need to indentify the challenges and determine if the challenges can be overcome. Developing Curriculum The amount of information that is available determines the degree to which new subjects can be introducing into the curriculum (United Nation Education, Scientific and Cultural Education, UNESCO 2000). ICT is a good medium of delivering effective services, train the teachers and the student on how to make the most use of the technology. Education has to be redefined by the administrators and educators through all the levels or stages of education (Ehlers, 2007). Skills and values that are key to the sustainability of education must be included in the education curriculum. Redefining education curriculum must be made for the teachers as well as the students in order to further improve their IT skills and sustainable usage of resources. Embracing Sustainable Education Development The need for change from the education perspective is focused on the overall development of the people in the society; the people who are to benefit from the good education practices in providing them with right education and skills needed to face any challenge on their path. Sustainable education helps in living a quality live as well as guarantying a bright future for the coming generation. As such information technology is focused its attention on how to further enhance education sector. Education is paramount to preparing the younger generation for tomorrow challenges as such there must be a better integration between technology and education. There must be increased access to educational materials and there must be a good interaction with other people in order to gain more (Paas & Creech); the also of the belief that ICT

provides the avenue for content presentation through multimedia. Information should be provided on the internet as well as in printing for good link to available information for people to read and exchange knowledge based on the resources.

Research Methodology According to rose (2005) Methodology is generally a guideline system for solving a problem, with specific components such as phases, tasks, methods, techniques and tools. RESEARCH PURPOSE There are three main purpose of carrying out a research work, the purposes are: Descriptive, explanatory and exploratory; each approach can be used for all the purpose of study (Eriksson & Wiedershein 1997). DESCRIPTIVE Descriptive research is primarily used when the problem at hand is well structured there is no need for finding the cause of an event. Descriptive research is used in order to be able to describe pattern that were identified in a subjective manner. When the organization of the subject appears to merge, then explanation is done in order to explain what leads to development of theory in the long run (Yin 2003). EXPLANATORY This particular approach is a laid-back or casual research often used when a researcher wants to explain some event set and to show how to apply the investigation outcome or results to other sets of investigations. The aim of explanatory is to show the relationship between the cause of a matter and the effect of the matter (Yin 2003). Also, explanatory seeks to find the relationship the relationship that exists between different variables. APPROACH Information collected will be approached by the methodological methods that are obtainable for qualitative data and quantitative data (Eriksson & Wiedershein 1997). The characteristics of gathered information determine the research for which they are applied. The two approaches differs in the way statistics and number are used (Yin 2003). Qualitative approach is based on the knowledge gathering and understanding of object of study. The perception of the research and its interpretation that are in focus in

the frame of reference (Holmes and Salvage 1997). The closeness or access to source of information collected distinguished qualitative research (Eriksson & WiedersheinPaul 1997). Qualitative data is described as a source of grounded and rich explanation processes in discovery of local framework. A qualitative study is found on the description, emotion or even reaction (Yin 2003). For this work we are using qualitative research method because this study is aimed at discovering and gaining insight into how to blend information technology with the education curriculum to deliver a far better education to the citizens.

RESEACH STARTEGY In this research work we preferred a case study approach; this method is used when the research does not have more control on the events and when the attention of the study is on the stated issue in the real life situation. Case study approach is applied in examination of existing events especially when the behaviors cannot be easily manipulated. This approach relies so much on the observable evidences as well as history of the issue studied including interviews conducted for people concerned (Yin 2003). It was stated by Yin that a decision has to be made on the type of designs to be adopted; whether its single case study or multiple cases are going to be employed in order to solve the question based on the research work. Multiple cases design gives a more comprehensive and robust evidence for the study. In order to achieve the aim of our study we have selected two online advertisement services provider, this is done in such a way that we will be able to compare the two cases in detail. DATA COLLECTION The determination of the appropriate strategy to use for the research work, we therefore need to look into the issue of collection of experimental data (Yin 2003). Data are collected using different methods (Eriksson & Wiedershein 1997). There are two major sources of data; primary data and secondary data. Data that are collected by the researchers for the research are refer to as primary data while secondary data are refer to as the data that are already in existence by previous researchers with different aims and objectives at the back of their mind (Eriksson & Wiedershein 1997). The methods that we are going to be used in data collection will be collected through interviews and inquiries; as we are going to be interviewing different respondent within the companies selected. In case study approach, the use of document is paramount as it plays a precise part in collection of data. Documentary data set can also be in the form of newspaper, archive, and agendas and so on (Yin 2003). Documentary evidences will be used as secondary data for the purpose of this study.

ANALYSIS Data analysis is the process of examining, combining and categorizing data that we collected. Investigations must have analytical methods of knowing what it is to analyze and what the reason behind it is. In these two approaches can be used to achieve this; theoretical intention that will pave way for the development of framework for the studied case. Another one is time- series which has to do with repletion of dependent variables so that changes can be noted over time. The last is the program logic model which combines pattern matching and time- series analysis for complex pattern analysis over a period of time. We will employee theoretical proposition method which gives birth to matching pattern since we are going to be comparing past theories and literatures.
