Chapter 1:

1. Tom & Huck get rich from finding robbers money hid in a cave. It was worth six thousand dollars. Judge Thatches keeps the money for Huck. 2. Huck lives with Miss Watson and Widow Douglas. They try to civilize him. 3. Miss Watson is the sister of old widow Douglas. She tries to teach Huck vocabulary.

Chapter 2:

1. Tom took Jims hat and hung it on the tree. 2. Jim tells everyone that witches were trying to do something to him. He becomes popular among the other slaves. 3. The Tom Sawyers Gang was to go kill and rob people.

Chapter 3:

1. Huck thinks that the prayers dont work because no one has seen God. He did pray but he didnt get what he wanted. he wished for a fishing line & hook but her didnt get a hook. 2. Pap has been gone for a year, when Pap was around pap was very abusive. 3. Huck believes that a man only drowns face down and the body was downed face up.

Chapter 4:

1. Huck sees a cross in a boat print in the snow and Huck knows Pap has a cross under his boat to ward the devil away. 2. Huck gives Judge Thatches his money, because Huck is scared Pap is only after his money. 3. Jim uses a hairball and tells him that he has ups and downs and his lifes hard. Jim tells Huck that decisions in his life will make up his life.

Chapter 5:

1.Pap wants all of Hucks money. Pap doesnt like how Huck is being educated. 2. Judge Thatcher and Widow Douglas try to get guardianship to help Huck escape Pap.

Rodriguez 2 3. The new Judge tries to help Pap by giving him clean clothes and money but instead Pap takes the money and gets drunk again. Chapter 6: 1. Huck starts to begin to go to school more regularly because he wants to make his father mad. 2. Pap goes and takes Huck away and locks him in a cabin in the middle of the woods. 3. Hucks plan to escape pap by taking his gun and faking his death. Chapter 7: 1. Huck used a wild pig, cutting open and dragging it around the house to stage his death. 2. Huck uses the ax to chop down the door to stage someone broke in. 3. Huck wants his plan to be a success because he wants to be free from pap. Chapter 8: 1. The search party uses cannon and throws it in the water to disturb the water so Hucks body floats up. Then they use a peace of bead and put quicksilver in it and throw it in the water to float to jumps body. 2. Huck wants to go to Jackson Island because he knows the island very well. 3. Jim is running away because he knows that Mrs. Watson was going to sell him, he considers himself rich because she was going to be sold for 800 dollars. Chapter 9: 1. Jim knows it is going to rain because he sees the birds flying into the caves. 2. A two story house comes floating down the river towards them. 3. In the house Huck finds a gun and 8 coins, while Jim finds Paps dead body inside the house. But he doesnt tell Huck because he is scared it will make Huck sad. Chapter 10: 1. Huck leaves a dead rattle snake next to Jim but it turns dangerous because the snakes mate comes and bits Jim. 2. From the over cast of the house they find the raft. 3. Huck discuses himself as a girl to go into town to find out information on Jim and His death. Chapter 11: 1. Huck meets Judith in the new town, she has only been in the town for two weeks.

Rodriguez 3 2. Jim and Pap are suspected of killing Huck. The reward for someone to bring in Jim is $300 and Pap is $200. 3. Jim and Huck leave the canoe because the rafter in a lot father and easier to hide. Chapter 12: 1.Jim and Huck relieve their guilt about borrowing food and other supplies by limiting the food the get. 2. Jim and Huck find the two men holding people hostage 3. The bad new that Jim tells Huck is that the raft had floated away from where they left it. Chapter 13: 1. Jim and Huck escape the thieves by stealing there money and take there boat. 2. Huck wanted to notify someone in the village to help by lying about who was in the wreck. 3. Huck believed that everyone deserves a second chance every if they do bad. Chapter 14: 1. The loot that Jim and Huck took from the thieves was a book, cigars, clothes and a spyglass. 2. Jim and Huck discuss about King Solomon as they relax with the things they took from the thieves. 3. Jims problem with King Solomon is that he believes that King Solomon really sliced him self in half to have more. Chapter 15: 1. Jim and Huck get separated by the fog. 2. Huck tricks Jim by telling Jim that he was always there and Jim was dreaming when Huck returns to Jim. 3. Jim is heart broken but he is reveled that Huck is back with him but he did not like the prank that Huck played on him. Chapter 16: 1. Jim tells Huck that when he gets to the Free states he is going to buy his wife and his kids. 2. When Huck reaches the shore he planes to turn Jim in. He thinks he is hurting Mrs. Watson because Jim belongs to her still. 3. Huck convinces the slave hunters to turn their boat away by lying and telling them that his family has small pox so that they dont find Jim.

Rodriguez 4 Chapter 17: 1.When Huck first arrives at the Grangerfords house, they greet him with a lot of guns to his face, they at first believes that he is Shepherdson trying to sneak by them. 2. Emmelines poem and art is mostly about death and is it very dark because it is what fascinates her the most. Chapter 18: 1. Buck defines the feud as a constant fight that has never ended, that no one can remember why they are really fighting. 2. Sophia Grangerfords secret reason she asks Huck to go get her, her Bible testament because inside is a note from Harley Shepherdson, say what time to be a church so that they can elope. 3. Jim and Huck are reunited by another slave family showing Huck where in is in the woods. Since Jim and Huck have been separated Jim has been busy fixing the raft. 4. Hucks reaction to the carnage at the end of the chapter is that he is really sad and disturbed. Chapter 19: 1. The two carpetbaggers were being chased out of town when Huck rescued them was because one was a selling articles and the other was running a little temperance revival. 2. The young carpet bagger claims to be the Duke of Bridgewater. He requires Huck and Jim to treat him like royalty. 3. The older carpetbagger claims to be the king of France. His motto is mange the best of things, the way you find them. Chapter 20: 1.The King and the Duck decide to stage a scenes from Richard the 3rd and Romeo and Juliet in the next town. 2. The king makes his money in the small town by saying he was a reformed pirate and was saved by the town hoping to make money to help reform other pirates to do good deeds. 3. The duke makes his money in the small town by starting a news paper and selling added for people to buy. His plan to allow then to run during the daytime is that he made an ad saying they are collection Jim as a run away nigger and they are taking him to collect the reward. Chapter 21: 1. The King and Duke will do encores after their performance of Richard the III.

Sherburn kills Boggs because hes the town drunk and then the town mob wants to lynch Sherburn. Chapter 22: 1. Sherburn believes that there is no justice in the south because people are to scared to try to people of murder because someone will seek retaliation on the judge, so they by pass them and let them go and in the middle of the the town's men would put on black masks and lynch then at night because they are to coward to try them for murdered. 2. Sherburn Calls all of them mob cowards because they are not man enough to lynch him in the day that none of them are real men, and cant do their business in the middle of the day and it makes the mob leave him alone and not lynch him. 3. One circus performer plays on the ring master is that he pretend to be a drunken slob and better he could rid a horse perfect, at first sucking and them start to take off about ten suites and shows that he is apart of the circus and runs back to the dressing room. Chapter 23: 1. The new show is about Richard the III, The King is not wearing nothing but being painted on. His new stage name that the duck gave him is Camelnlaperd. 2. The first night of the show was completely sold out and the third night it was sold out again but everyone had brought rotten nasty food to throw at the Duke and King. 3. Jims opinion of the King and the Duke is that he no longer thinks it is safe for them and they she not takes anymore people. 4. Jim tells Huck that when his daughter Elizabeth was younger she had gotten scarlet fever and she couldnt hear because it was a side effect of scarlet fever and he got really mad at her because he thought she was ignoring him, so one day he got so mad and hit her, after he found out that she was sick and he felt extremely guilty about hitting her. Chapter 24: 1. The Duke makes Jim look like a sick, crazy Arab so it is easier for them to leave Jim alone during the day on the raft. 2. Identify the following: Peter Wilks: He is the dead brother. Harvey Wilks: He is Peters brother that lives in England.

Rodriguez 6 William Wilks: He is Peter and Harveys death brother who also lives in England. Mary Jane Wilks: She is Peters oldest daughter who is 19. 3. The King and Duck pretend to be Harvey and William Wilks to collect the money that Peter left for them. Chapter 25: 1. The King and the Ducks scheme to defraud the Wilks girls is to first gain there trust so they give them all that money then after, steel the money and sell off the land and the slaves. 2. The King and the Duke decide to give the girls all the money so show them they are good men and not frauds trying to steal their money. Chapter 26: 1. Huck lies to Joanna saying he is supposedly from Sheffield and that the dauphin is supposed to be a Protestant minister. 2. Huck feels comfortable swearing to Joanna that hes been telling the truth because she makes him swear over a dictionary. 3. Huck finds the money in the Kings room. Chapter 27: 1. Huck goes and takes the money planning to burry it for Marry Jane to find after they leave but he hears someone come in the room so he hides it in Peters coffin. Huck is afraid that if someone opens the coffin and give it to the king that the girls will never get it back. 2. The King and the Duke sell the slaves and separates them causing the girls, Huck and even the towns people to become upset. 3. When pressed by the King and Duke, Huck suggest that the slaves might have stolen the money when they where cleaning the room. Chapter 28: 1. Mary Jane doesnt want to go to London because she feels bad because the slave family was spilt up and she found out about her uncles. 2. Hucks plane to keep Mary Jane from confronting the King and Duke to early is the he is going to send her to Mr. Lothrops so the girls can stay their for four days. 3. Huck is impressed with Mary Jane because she is caring and she is very trustworthy. Chapter 29: 1. Them towns people give the four wilks brothers two test to see who is the real pair of brothers, the first test is that they have to sign their name and the second test is to say what is tattooed one peters chest.

Huck escapes the towns people by when they dig up Petes body they find the gold and they are all amazed and the man who was holding on to Huck lets him go because he is amazed that Peter have the money. Chapter 30: 1. The Duke blames the king because of his lack of knowledge of the town. The Duke says the Kings behavior is that the King is to cocky about things. 2. The King and the Duke start to blame each other for stealing the money. 3. The King Confesses to stealing the money because he doesnt like fighting with the Duke. Chapter 31: 1. A few failed scams ran by the King and the Duke was they tried to be missionaries, mesmerizing people, doctoring and telling futures. 2. Huck and the Duke find the King in a little low down doggery (bar) drinking, He was in a angry drunken condition. 3. The King gave Jim for capture; he got only 40 dollars for providing information. 4. Huck plans to write Miss Watson a latter telling her where Jim is. He didnt want to face the consequence; he had to face about leaving: But he really wanted to help Jim because he cared about Jim. 5. Huck sees the Duke on his way to Phelps plantation, putting up signs for another show they are putting on. Chapter 32: 1. When Huck first arrives at the Phelps the dogs surround him then soon after the slaves come and see what is going on with the dogs. 2. Sally Phelps mistakes Huck for Tom Sawyer, It makes Huck feel better because Tom is Hucks best friend and he knows toms family better then his own. Chapter 33: 1. Tom gives Aunt Sally two names saying he is William Thompson and then after saying he is his own half brother Sid. Tom upsets Aunt Sally during dinner because he goes in and almost kisses her on the lips. 2. A mob of townspeople running the duke and the dauphin, tarred and feathered, out of town on a rail. Huck feels bad for the two, and his ill feelings toward them melt away. Huck says that a conscience is useless because it makes you feel bad no matter what you do.

Rodriguez 8 Chapter 34: 1. Tom remembers seeing a black man delivering food to a shed on the Phelps property earlier that evening and deduces that the shed is where Jim is being held. 2. Hucks plan to free Jim is that at night he is going to go and losses the window by the shed and help Jim clime through it, Tom says it is wrong because it is to boring and to simple. 3. Toms plan is for while they are digging Jim free that are going to have him cry out that witches are taking him to people will not hear Tom and Huck as they dig with knives. 4. Tome say/convinces the slave that they didnt hear Jim call him by there names and then had Jim agree then told the slave that is must have been witch who made him hear Jim call the boys by there names, They sow not to tell anyone about it and gave the slave 10 cents to go away. Chapter 35: 1. According to Tom, three things that the Books say the must includes in there plane to free a prisoner is you make a pen, a knife and a seat latter. 2. Tom wants to use a knife to dig with from the shed to the hut, but Huck objects beucase he says that Jim is to old to wait for a long time Chapter 36: 1. Tom and Huck use their imagination to make Jims release seem more exciting and adventurous by digging with the knives and switch to pick-axes instead 2. Jims plan once Huck and Tom dig through to the cabin and escape him at night to the woods. 3. Two things that happen to Jim that frighten or hurt Jim is that he doesnt agree with the boys fancy way to set Jim free and that he is a bit scared because Sally and Sails visit to prey with him. Chapter 37: 1. Aunt Sally complains that a lot of the silverware and other stuff is just disappearing. 2. Huck and Tom trick Aunt Sally from forgetting about the missing stuff is Tom tells her that maybe the rats have stole most of the stuff so the boys go and plunge rat holes around the house. 3. Tom and Huck put a sheet later in one of the pies and delivers it to Jim in just in time. Chapter 38: 1. Tom saying that the log it not good enough because the inscriptions might not stay so the go and rob the millstone.

Rodriguez 9 2. Tom and Huck move the grindstone into Jims Cabin by sneaking Jim out and having him help. 3. Jim must have a pen, the rope ladder and his pans with sketches on them. Chapter 39: 1. Huck and Tom capture rats and snakes to put in the shed with the captive Jim and accidentally infest the Phelps house with them. 2. Tom writes a letter to the Phelps saying that a gang is going to com and steal Jim and claim there land. 3. Jim is forced to suffer because tom animals are going into his shake and they scare him and force Jim out side to have in seeks back into the house. Chapter 40: 1. Tom puts on Aunt Sallys dress to go start lunch because they need to steal a couple of things from the kitchen and they didnt want to get caught yet. 2. A bunch of local famers are in the sitting-room when Aunt Sally sends Huck in there. The locals are there because they want to know if Huck knows anything about the letter and the information on it. 3. Tom was shoot at the end of the chapter, It happened when they were running from the dogs and the men after stealing Huck. Chapter 41: 1. Huck didnt spend the night with Jim and tom on the island because while Huck was at the post official Uncle Sailas came and found Huck and took him back to Aunt Sally. 2. Huck tells Sailas that he and Sid sneaked out last night to help catch the slave. 3. Huck doesnt leaves the house at night because he vows never to use Aunt Sally again. Chapter 42: 1. The doctor telling the crowd how Jim has sacrificed his freedom to help nurse Tom. 2. Tom explains that Miss Watson died two months ago and that her will stipulated that Jim should be set free. Chapter 43: 1. Jim tells Huck that the dead body they found on the floating house during the flood was Pap. 2. Jim was received 40 dollar and is set free. As for Huck, he leaves to go west because Aunt Sally is trying to civilize him already
