New features
Review this section for details about new features in the suite.

Next Generation User Interface

Update to the Basic theme The default color theme was updated with a blue sapphire palette that reflects the Next Generation User Interface. The updated theme provides harmonious integration with the Next Generation User Interface. If you prefer the classic look, you can update to that theme. See Choosing a theme for instructions. See your Service Representative about installing the Next Generation User Interface at your site.

Suite technology
64-bit platform support Enables users to upgrade to more robust 64-bit systems. Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008 support both 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems. You can install most suite products on 64-bit systems, with the exception of Workforce Portal and the Totalizer extensions. Vertical scaling has been used to take advantage of all memory resident on a single machine. If you use a 64-bit operating system, there may be no need to vertically scale. A single instance can take advantage of the machines total memory capacity. See your Service Representative for information specific to your environment. If you are upgrading to a 64-bit Windows system, review the vendor documentation for the operating system, the Guide to Planning a Workforce Central Installation and Installing and Upgrading Workforce Central. Then, use the installation media for the 64-bit machines. Apache version 2.2.11 Workforce Central supports Apache web server version 2.2.11. The upgrade is part of the installation process when Apache is selected as the web server. Refer to the Guide to Planning a Workforce Central Installation to learn more about using Apache as the web server. Refer to Installing and Upgrading Workforce Central for installation information.

Security
Session timeout behavior Provides greater security at the desktop when systems are left unattended. After a specified default or user-defined system timeout period, the system prompts users to continue. When users click Yes, the system continues the session. When users click No, the session ends, and any unsaved data is lost. If users do not respond within one minute, the session is terminated and any unsaved data is lost. Protects data on the hard disk and backup media. Files are encrypted with a certificate. Users can access only the database with that certificate. The actual encryption or decryption occurs as the pages of data or log files are written to or read from the I/O system. The data inside the cache is in normal plain text, while the data on the disk is in encrypted form. TDE is enabled through Microsoft Management Studio and the use of database scripts in Microsoft SQL 2008. TDE is enabled in Oracle using database scripts from the Oracle client; for example, SQLPlus or SQL Developer. It is supported in Oracle v10GR and greater.

New features

Refer to Installing and Upgrading Workforce Central for details. JBoss JMX Console password Enhances system activity by prompting the user to create a password to install and secure the JBoss JMX Console. During installation, supply a password to complete the process. Refer to Installing and Upgrading Workforce Central. SSL port 80 closure Security alerts Closes the non-secure port (port 80) on the web server in an SSL environment when SSL is configured during the installation process. Enables an administrator to collect audit information about security-related actions, such as unknown user logon attempts and failed password changes. When a suspicious activity occurs, specified recipients receive an email message. They can then investigate the activity. The administrator uses the Security Alerts option in System Configuration to create the alerts and view the existing alerts. The administrator defines the conditions under which alert messages are sent. The administrator can select which items to audit select Setup > System Configuration > System Settings > Audit Settings tab Security Audit Data Export Enables an administrator to select a security audit type, an audit action, and a date range, and then export the data to an Excel spreadsheet or CSV file. Data is exported to the following columns in both Excel and CSV formats: Date/Time Audit Type Audit Action Person Id Name Data Source Before After

Person Id and Name are not always populated. The Before and After columns are for updating audits and are designed to hold the old and new values. However, depending on the Audit Type, the columns might contain different information. For example, exported data for Failed Logins displays a username or ID in the Before column and an error message (An incorrect user name or password was entered. Please try again.) in the After column. Note: The information that appears in the Data Source column is retrieved from the DATASOURCE table in the database and varies, depending on the Audit Type and Audit Action. For example, if the Audit Type is Person Access Assignment and the Audit Action is Modify, the URL for WFC logon, the IP address of the user, the user name, and the affected WFC component, such as People Editor, appear in the Data Source column. If the Audit Type is Login and the Audit Action is Failure, SystemSystemSystem/Workforce Central appears in the Data Source column. For assistance with data source information, contact your Kronos Representative. In Workforce Manager - System Configuration function access profiles, new access control points Security Alerts and Security Audit Data Export can be used to limit access to the security audit and export features.

Workforce Central Suite 6.2 Release Notes

New features

Workforce Timekeeper
Workforce Timekeeper is an automated time and attendance solution that reduces labor costs by enforcing pay and work rules consistently and accurately; simplifying labor-intensive timecard tracking, data entry, approval processes; and minimizing the administrative time spent tracking attendance exceptions and handling employee inquiries. Missing time Any instance of time an employee missed when the employee was scheduled to work Using totalizer processing, the system will now automatically resolve any instance of missing time, such as punching in late, leaving early, taking a long break, violating core hours, or being absent. Automatic resolution occurs when an employee's work rule contains an Auto-resolved Exception rule. Auto-resolved Exception rules are created in Setup. When an auto-resolved exception occurs, the timecard displays a duration pay code edit and the missing time span. The employee or the manager can justify the exception using the justification dialog available in the timecard. Set the following access control points to enable justification of missing time: Employees-Workforce Employee>Timecard Editor for Employees > My Timecard > Pay Codes in My Timecard > Justify My Missed Time Exceptions. Managers-Workforce Manager - Department Manager > Timecard Editor for Managers > Pay Codes in Timecard Editor > Justify Missed Time Exceptions. Move Amounts - access in Timecards Enables managers or employees to move amounts of time when the employee has permission through new function access control points (FACPs). For managers, specify Allowed on both FACPs: Workforce Central Manager - Department manager > Timecard Editor for managers, Pay codes in Timecard Editor > Move Amountperform pay code moves and delete pay codes in the current or future pay periods. Workforce Central Manager - Department Manager > Timecard Editor for Managers > Historical edit > Move Amountmove and delete historical edits.

For employees, specify Allowed on both FACPs: Workforce Central Employee > Timecard Editor for Employees, Pay codes in Timecard Editor > Move Amountperform pay code moves and delete pay codes in their current or future pay periods. Workforce Central Employee > Timecard Editor for Employees, Pay codes in Timecard Editor > Move Amount in Historical Edits in My TimecardMove or delete historical edits on the Historical Amounts tab.

Right-click on a pay code total to display the Move Amount function. Processing worked time for adjacent or nearby shifts Determines how worked time is processed when an employee is scheduled for two shifts in close proximity. Example 1: Employee is scheduled from 8:00a to 4:00p and from 4:00p to 12:00a. These are adjacent shifts because the second starts at the same time the first ends. Example 2: Employee is scheduled from 8:00a to 4:30p and from 4:00p to 12:30a. These are overlapping shifts because the time from 4:00 to 4:30 is shared by both shifts. Example 3: Employee is scheduled from 8:00a to 4:00p and from 5:00p to 1:00a. These are nearby shifts because their proximity to each other creates ambiguity as to whether a punch at 5:00p is a return from a late break on the first shift, or the beginning of a new shift.

Kronos Incorporated

New features

Two new system settings cover the different processing possibilities of these shifts. By default, both settings are disabled, which results in v6.1.4 and earlier Totalizer behavior. global.AdjacentShifts.ScheduleMergeSetting by default treats both adjacent and nearby shifts as though the employee worked only the first shift, but punched out late. Any job, account, or work rule transfers that are part of the second shift will not take effect. This setting should be used when the employee is not really expected to work both shifts, but rather to have the system process her correctly when she shows up for either. When set to "favor earlier shift", this setting causes adjacent shifts to be processed, capturing any transfers on the later shift. For overlapping shifts, this setting credits the overlapping time to the earlier of the two shifts. When set to favor later shift, this setting causes adjacent shifts to be processed, capturing any transfers on the later shift. For overlapping shifts, this setting credits the overlapping time to the later of the two shifts. global.AdjacentShifts.TotalNearbyShifts by default will usually result in the system treating an In punch following the end of a scheduled shift as a return from a late break. The actual result depends on the configuration of the break parameters. When enabled, this system setting will cause punches closer to the end of the first shift to be interpreted as a return from break, but punches closer to the start of another shift will be interpreted as the In punch for that later shift. Weighted Average Overtime Enables accurate processing of pay rates based on allocations to worked hours, in compliance with the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) or other legislation. Pay for any overtime hours is based on the weighted average of the employee's pay for individual hours worked, a requirement under the FLSA. The rate paid for overtime is based on averaging the pay for all time worked within the overtime period and using the resulting rate for the half-time overtime pay. Set up weighted average overtime conditions in Setup > Pay Policies > Pay Codes > Pay Code Definitions. Worked Accounts Genie Displays pay code totals for employees who worked in specific labor accounts during a specified time period. A Worked Account is an account that matches the specified list of accounts (which are editable, but are determined by default using a manager's Labor Account Transfer Set) and where worked hours are in one or more of the pay codes in the Genie. When the HyperFind query is All Home or All Home and Transferred-in, the target account set is the Labor Level Transfer Set of the manager who runs the Genie. The Worked Account Genie includes a Worked Accounts Set editor that enables you to modify the Labor Level Set in the selected Worked Account Genie to further filter the amount of information returned. A Worked Account Detail Genie enables you to select a worked account and drill down to view the employees who worked in that account. The details that appear depend on the configuration of the column set associated with the Genie. At the detail level, you can also drill-down further to view an employees timecard. Core zones from schedule Allows you to configure Workforce Timekeeper so that core violations are reported only if the employee is scheduled to work a shift that contains the configured core zones. Use the following setting to enable this feature. Change the default of False to True. Select Setup > System Configuration > System Settings > Global Values tab.

Workforce Central Suite 6.2 Release Notes

New features

global.WTKtotalizer.CoreHoursApplyOnlyWithinScheduleShifts Tracking time to target Improves flexibility and ease of use when configuring the system to manage an employee's time to a targeted number of hours. You can establish targets in work hours definitions using a specified amount, the employee's contract hours, or the employee's scheduled hours. Time paid through pay code distributions (worked time") can optionally be configured not to contribute towards hours targets. This feature is useful in establishing a count of effective vs. theoretical hours in Europe and also allows holiday credits to contribute or not, according to your needs.

Cascading day-based pay codes

Supports cascading day pay codes where the cascade steps have associated duration pay codes. This feature permits a day off to be cascaded among multiple day accruals in conjunction with a separate proportional cascade of the duration amounts representing the hours for the day. Multiple options allow you to determine the number of hours for each day. These are configured on the new Pay codes tab in Employment Terms.

Workforce Absence Manager

Workforce Absence Manager incorporates the previously separate products Leave, Attendance, and Accruals (Accruals is still available as a separate product). The Leave module builds on the Workforce Accruals engine to help employers track leave time and comply with company or legislatively mandated leave policies. The system can track leave time that is taken as one block of time, or intermittently. With Leave, users can configure and administer leave policies and any associated documents (such as medical certification forms, fitness for duty documents, etc.). Leave Templates are an implementation tool. The templates are preconfigured federal and state leave setups. They are stored in an external toolkit available to Absence Manager service experts, to be used as the baseline for configuring leave plans. The Attendance module is designed to monitor employee attendance behavior and enforce employer attendance policies. Users can configure and administer their written attendance policies and attendance documents (such as written warning letters, perfect attendance notifications, etc.). The module includes the ability to automatically generate manager alerts (e-mail notifications with links to documents) when disciplinary actions are required for employees.

Leave
Extended document due dates Extends due dates for eligibility and restarts the document reminder schedule. This feature enables compliance with the FMLA legislation regarding incomplete or insufficient medical certification. Using document reminders, the employer specifies, in writing, what information is missing. The employee has seven calendar days to respond with the correct documentation. The employee receives document reminders automatically, based on the date of the request for additional information. Calculates a leave entitlement to determine the number of hours that are available for leave, considering past leave time in a leave tracking period. Leave administrators can now select a leave tracking period when they specify on-demand grant requirements. The leave tracking periodsDate of Hire, Calendar Year, and 12 Months Priorshow how much leave time the employee is entitled to take. The Grant Leave workspace has a new look. The Leave administrator can view previous leave information in two panels: Paid Leave Types and Unpaid Leave Types. From these panels, the administrator can grant the system-supplied leave amount, enter a different leave amount, or not grant

leave. Taking distributions Provides flexibility in managing certain disability policies. It automatically calculates the amount of benefits that are charged to standard disability plans and to other accrued leave times. There are two types of distributions: Fixed distributionBenefits are calculated as a certain percentage of hours, such as 60%; the remaining percent is distributed across other accrued leave time. Length of Service (LOS) distributionThe percentage of disability benefits is based on an employees length of service.

For example, a disability plan distributes 60% of an employees hours to STD, and charges the remaining 40% against sick time or vacation time until the leave type balances are exhausted. The order in which the employee can use other leave time is set within the policy. In the Leave Rule Editor, the new action Add a taking distribution enables administrators to add a taking distribution to the Leave rule. Automated leave case requests The Automated Leave Case Request feature allows employees to request leave time by using the My Leave Request workspace. Employees enter leave request information in the Leave Request form, from the My Leave Requests workspace. The system processes the request and populates the leave case summary page. The case is created in a submitted state. The leave administrator uses the Leave application to either approve or decline the leave request. If approved, the leave administrator changes the status of the leave case from submitted to open. If declined, the leave administrator changes the leave case status from submitted to declined. Employees can view their leave cases on the My Leave Requests page. A function access profile controls whether the employee can view the previous grants in the My Leave Requests view. Use Setup > Function Access Profiles > New > Workforce Employee > My Leave Requests. Change the default of Disallowed to Allowed.

Workforce Scheduler
Workforce Scheduler is an all-in-one solution that delivers tools that managers need to create schedules: find the right, skilled, best-cost, replacement employees; ensure proper coverage; stay within organizational guidelines; and ensure employee satisfaction. Enhancements to scheduling include the introduction of Mobile Scheduling on page 8, a new component that lets managers use mobile phone technology to staff and schedule employees. Schedule toolbar The Schedule toolbar like the Action palette provides quick-click buttons to complete the most common and useful actions to edit schedules with fewer clicks and menus. Action palette A floating window Schedule toolbar In the toolbar area above the Scheduler You can display one or the other but not both simultaneously in the By Employee and By Job tabs. New icons include: Shift Offset Moves an entire shift in time Shift Change Duration Changes the start or end time of a shift

New features

Procedure Set Selects a procedure set to sort employees. A procedure set contains sorting rules or rule sets. New rules include: Sorting by Shift Duration Sorts employees by the duration of the first shift during the time period Sorting by Shift Job Sorts employees by the job of the first worked segment of the first shift during the time period Sorting by Shift Start Sorts employees by the start time of the first shift during the date range; ignores pay code edits and accruals

Coverage graph

Sort Employees Sorts employees by the most recently selected procedure set

The Coverage graph like the Coverage tab displays a line graph or bar chart that compares current coverage to the workload plan. Coverage tab A supporting-data tab that is below the schedule Coverage graph Aligned with and below the schedule

Both display: Zone categories Scheduled Number of employees who are currently scheduled Open & Scheduled Sum of the number of employees who are currently scheduled, and the number of hours of open shifts Planned Number of employees that the workload plan requires Coverage Variance Difference between the staffing plan and the current schedule. A positive number indicates overcoverage. A negative number indicates undercoverage.

Schedule zone categories group zones from different schedule zone sets. For example, use a zone category to group Metrics data from different zone sets. A zone category called Breakfast groups the 9a 11a Breakfast zone at location A with the 6a 8a Earlyriser and 8a 10a Breakfast zones at location B. Select Setup > Scheduler Setup > Zone Categories. Preferred zone categories and sorting and matching rules: The people records of employees can specify preferred zone categories. New sorting and matching rules: Sorting by Shift Overlap with Employee Preferred Zone Category Sorts open shifts by the preferred zone category of employees. A shift can overlap one or more zone categories, and a zone category can contain several zones. Matching by Preferred Zone Category Matches an open shift to an employee only if the shift overlaps the preferred zone category of the employee by a value that is greater than or equal to a minimum value.

Mobile Scheduling
Workforce Mobile Scheduler gives managers an automated tool that can select and contact employees, process and track responses, and assign shifts. Because it communicates quickly and easily between managers and employees, it saves time. How it works 1. Managers open shifts.

Kronos Incorporated

New features

2. Managers use the Call List tab to select and contact the employees who best match the shifts. 3. The mobile scheduler broadcasts the available shifts or other messages from managers to the mobile devices of the selected employees by: Email Short Message Service (SMS) Text messages Interactive Voice Response (IVR) Automated voice messages that accept voice and keypad input 4. Employees accept or refuse the shifts. 5. The mobile scheduler assigns the shifts in the order that they were accepted or by best match, and notifies the managers and employees. 6. Managers can use Contact Tracking to track and audit calls and employee responses.

Workforce Forecast Manager

Analyze Historical Volume Data Adaptive Forecasting Provides the ability to export an analysis of the input data that was used to create the volume forecast for a selected category and selected forecast week from the Forecast Planner into Microsoft Excel. A new volume forecast method that adapts and fine tunes its output based on the historical input data. Because data patterns vary week by week and by department, this algorithm selects the best method to use to generate an optimal volume forecast for a particular store or department. The Adaptive volume forecast method analyzes a wide variety of patterns that exist in the historical data; for example, trend, seasonal, cyclical, and irregular patterns. These patterns are used to determine the best forecasting algorithm to use to generate an optimal volume forecast. Users can define seasonal patterns, which are periods of time with high or low activity that occur within a selling season. Seasonal patterns add precision to the daily forecast calculation. Zero Forecast Edit Allows users to edit a volume forecast when a zero is displayed in a cell on the Forecast Planner. Formerly, zeros were grayed out and they could not be changed, which resulted in an inaccurate forecast of required labor.

Workforce Operations Planner

Budget Adjusted Labor Forecast Provides the ability to schedule to a budget. The Auto-Scheduler uses the budget-adjusted labor forecast to ensure that the weekly scheduled hours meet the labor budget provided. This process is recommended both when the total labor budget is less than or equal to the weekly labor forecast and when it is more than the weekly labor forecast. The user can control how these budget adjustments are applied. The budget-adjusted labor forecast preserves the approximate shape of the labor forecast curve while making sure that the weekly budget is allocated appropriately to the different days of the week.

Workforce Device Manager

64-bit systems with Series 4000 Supports the communication of Series 4000 devices with Workforce Device Manager in an environment that uses a 64-bit operating system over Ethernet

Standard integration templates have been validated and, when necessary, updated to work with the Workforce Central 6.2 release.

Workforce Activities
Percent Entry Lets employees enter activity durations in their timecard as a percentage of their shift or as an hours amount. Use an approximate percentage of a day spent on an activity to reduce the amount of data entry that the employee must enter. If an employee enters a duration as hours, the Activity Event details of the timecard show the equivalent hours and do not display a percentage.

New features

Time Period Entry

Lets employees enter activity in their timecard for a selected time period. If enabled, employees can view, add to, and delete the roll-up summary in their timecards but they cannot edit existing data. Use the new function access control points for this feature: Workforce Employee > Activities in My Timecard > Allow entry of Durations as Hours in My Timecard. Workforce Employee > Activities in My Timecard > Allow Entry of Durations for Selected Time Period in My Timecard. Workforce Manager Department Manager > Activities in Timecard Editor > Allow Entry of Durations as Hours in Timecard Editor. Workforce Manager Department Manager > Activities in Timecard Editor > Allow Entry of Durations for Selected Time Period in Timecard Editor.

Transaction limits

Allows you to set a minimum and maximum threshold for each transaction entry. The thresholds default to the minimum (1-minute) and maximum (23:59) supported values. The fields specify the lower and upper limits of allowable hours and minutes that can be entered: Minimum and maximum duration entry amount allowed or an Activity is specified on the Activity Definition page. Minimum and maximum duration entry amount allowed for an employee is specified on the Activity Profile page.

Employee views of roll-up totals Visual cues for unbalanced daily hours in timecard entry

Provides new views of Activity duration (timecard) employees and form duration employees in a roll-up totals view (hours, approximate percentages, and allocated hours) for durations and idle time that correspond to the Time Period (shift/day/week/pay period) in the timecard. Highlight overages and exceptions in the Activity Events area of the timecard. The Total Activities Charged field will be outlined in red if the Allocated Hours does not add up to 100%, providing a visual indicator to employees that their Activities time does not equal the total labor hours for that day in the timecard. Activity entries made within the Timecard are now validated in the same manner as transactions entered from Activity Forms. Formerly, a "lighter" version of validation was used, based on the assumption that only managers would be using Timecard Activity Entry and that they would be using it primarily to make corrections to existing data. Validation now supports entering new transactions for employees or managers. Two new reports provide details about resources: Resource Detail by Group Resource Summary by Group

Consistent Validation when using Timecard Activity Entry

Differences

Index removed from online help

Industry trends show that online search is the preferred method of finding information in a PDF or HTML manual or in online help. An index is restrictive because it relies on the user having knowledge of a precise term or logical synonym. Therefore, the index was removed from online help. The index remains in all PDF or printed versions of a document. Users can continue to use PDF search engines for online copies of manuals or use the index in the manual. The installation guides were combined to improve the user experience. Installation guides are targeted to the following customers:
New Upgrades Advanced Reports UNIX

Consolidation of the installation guides

Installing Workforce Central Upgrading Workforce Central Installing and Configuring Advanced Reports with Workforce Timekeeper Installing Workforce Central for UNIX

Separate SSRS installation guide

Users choosing SSRS as the reporting technology should refer to the Installing and Configuring Advanced Reports with Workforce Timekeeper. This guide is new for version 6.2. Previous releases included the SSRS installation and removal in the Workforce Timekeeper Installation Guide or Workforce Timekeeper Upgrade Guide. This change allows users to work from the SSRS suite if they choose this reporting technology. Information about custom reporting is found in the Workforce Central System Administrators Guide.

SSL port closure Enforced JBoss JMX Console password Separate Workforce Connect 6.0 and Workforce Integration Manager differences document

The installation program has assumed the task of closing the non-secure port (port 80) on the web server. This task no longer needs manual intervention. The installation program enforces the creation of a JMX Console password. There is now a separate document in the kit that describes basic differences in functionality between Workforce Connect 6.0 and Workforce Integration Manager 6.2. This document will be updated in service pack releases as well.

Security
Session timeout behavior In previous versions of Workforce Central, the system prompted users to enter a password to continue working after a specified period of inactivity. If there was no response in one minute, the session terminated and any unsaved data was lost. This sequence was modified to first prompt users to continue. Then, if there is no response, the system logs off users and enforces a re-logon to continue working. Generic notifications are used for the alerts. Security custom tags were added to provide flexibility in creating the notifications. For details about generic notifications and custom tags, refer to the Workforce Central online help.

Workforce Timekeeper
About absences Workforce Central, Workforce Leave, and Workforce Attendance use the following definition of Absent: An employee is scheduled to work on a day and does not. The Schedule Editor in Kronos Workforce Timekeeper and Schedule Planner in Workforce Scheduler remove an employee's scheduled shift by default when creating a pay code edit. Removing the scheduled shift also removes the possibility that the employee will be considered as absent for the day. If you are using scheduled pay code edits to address illnesses and you also take advantage of the Open Shifts behavior in Scheduler, be aware that employees with these edits will not be considered absent. Tip: To review the correct data about absenceswho was truly absent and whose schedule was removedcreate HyperFind queries that search for time in absence-related pay codes instead of using the built-in absence features and reports that identify absent employees. Missing time In v6.1, managers could manually resolve exceptions and mark the time "as if worked" by using a duration pay code. In v6.2, these exceptions can be automatically resolved through totalizer processing. Existing roll-up Genie cannot be altered to become worked account Genie. New Genies must be created. Overtime rules that are configured with date pattern reset intervals no longer need to be treated as unique when configuring combination rules. This change reduces the number of pay code distribution cells that must be configured. The function access profile that enables pay code edits is split into two behaviors. One behavior permits only pay code edits and one behavior enables pay code moves. If users already had permission to move pay codes, they retain this permission after an upgrade. New fields in Pay Codes were added to control use of weighted average wage rates. Modification of the pay code distribution might be required to fully comply with FLSA when weighted average overtime is implemented. Users can create up to 256 punch interpretation rules, up from the previous maximum of 16. Select Setup > System Configuration > System Settings > Global Values tab. Workforce Scheduler
Metrics tab Provides detailed measurements that identify inefficiencies in schedules. Enhancements include the following: Synchronization with schedule Select a cell in the schedule. The Metrics tab highlights the column for the same date. Reload Button renamed to Load. Indicators Compare planned with actual workload, labor volume, coverage, volume, hours, or cost at any organizational level. New indicators: Open Shift Count Displays the number of open shifts for the grouping strategy and time period. If a shift spans midnight, it counts once only on the day that the shift starts. Open Shift Coverage Displays the number of hours of open shifts for the grouping strategy and time period. Open Shift Costs (Currency) Displays the cost of the open shift hours. The wage rate comes from the Location Profile. Open Shift Cost = Open Shift Coverage

Differences

Budgeted Costs Displays the average wage rate for all employees at a location. The wage rate comes from the Location Profile. Unlike the other cost indicators, Budgeted Costs does not display a value when it is grouped by Employee or Schedule Group.

Volume weighting Budgeted, Actual, and Projected Volume indicators can display weighted or unweighted volumes. Select Apply Weight Level. Decimals Number of decimal places to display for indicators that are based on decimal numbers, percentages, or currency. Replaces the system settings:

site.scheduling.schedulePlanner.indicator.use.rounding and site.scheduling.schedulePlanner.indicator.rounding.value.

Decimals allows you to define the number of decimal places for each indicator rather than globally for all indicators as with the system settings. Thresholds Can be a constant, or the result of another indicator for the daily values and daily summary totals of an indicator; no effect on All Days. Color codes show whether values are less than, equal to, or greater than the threshold. Grouping strategies Show variances between planned, scheduled, and actual staffing: Click plus (+) or minus () to expand or contract a grouping strategy. Click Expand All (+) or Collapse All () to expand or contract all grouping strategies.

New grouping strategy: Pay Code Groups indicators by pay code, but excludes combined pay codes and pay codes that are filtered out by the Hours Category Set. Pay codes are filtered if the Hours Category Set grouping strategy comes before the Pay Code grouping strategy. Note: With this grouping strategy, only the cost and hours indicators display values. All other indicators have a value of N/A (not applicable).

Changes to sort order in grouping strategies: Job Groups indicators by job title without the organizational path for any selected location. The Metrics tab displays jobs in the sort order that is defined in the Jobs and Organizational Map setup. If the sort order is not defined, the Metrics tab displays the jobs alphabetically. If some of the jobs have the sort order defined and others do not, the Metrics tab sorts first the jobs that have a sort order defined, followed by the remaining jobs in alphabetical order. Job Group Groups indicators by job group a limited number of categories. The Metrics tab displays job groups in the Column Number sort order that is defined in the Job Group setup. If the sort order is not defined, the Metrics tab displays the job groups alphabetically. Org Job Groups indicators by organizational job, including the organizational path. The Metrics tab sorts organizational jobs first alphabetically by the location path, and then by the job portion in the same manner as the Job grouping strategy.

New system settings Define the number of items that appear on the Metrics tab: site.scheduling.schedulePlanner.metrics.strategies.maxItems Maximum number of grouping strategies site.scheduling.schedulePlanner.metrics.indicators.maxItems Maximum number of indicators

The severity is configurable to informational, warning, no save, or not considered.

Schedule Generator

Enhancements improve the accuracy of generated schedules. New option: Generate Open Shifts and Assign Breaks Generates open shifts based on the workload, and assigns breaks within those shifts based on work rules.

New configuration options: Workload Generates the schedule from the baseline or adjusted number of hours Shift Profile Sets for Open Shifts Enables the schedule to comply with business needs. The Schedule Generator accounts for rules for start times, end times, and shift durations when it generates open shifts. A numerical indicator shows the relative impact of a shift profile set on the schedule (from zero to 100). Penalties Penalty values set points that the Schedule Generator assigns to an aspect of schedule generation. The higher the value, the more the Schedule Generator tries to enforce that aspect. A value of zero disables enforcement. Penalties can be applied for overcoverage, undercoverage, relative parts, distribution of open shifts, weekly budgets, and zero coverage. Penalties replace the system settings: site.scheduling.schedGen.business.protocol.OverCoveragePenalty site.scheduling.schedGen.business.protocol.UnderCoveragePenalty site.scheduling.schedGen.business.protocol.rules.extensibility. RelativePartPenalty New system settings Provide control over schedule accuracy and processing time: site.scheduling.schedGen.shiftenumerator.EnumeratedShiftLimit Limits the number of shifts that the Schedule Generator analyzes for each day, and changes the balance between processing time and solution quality. Shifts are based on shift profile sets. To not affect coverage, the Schedule Generator tries to spread shifts over time. site.scheduling.schedGen.business.protocol.ExcludePayCodesFromBudgetBalance Excludes pay codes from the initial budget balance, and enables the Budget Adjusted indicator to compare produced to expected results more accurately.

Differences

Separate Workforce Connect 6.0 and Workforce Integration Manager differences document

There is now a separate document in the kit that describes basic differences in functionality between Workforce Connect 6.0 and Workforce Integration Manager 6.2. This document will be updated in service pack releases.

Reporting
Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) 2008 for Advanced Reports To support the SSRS 2008 report format for Advanced Reports, standard reports have been converted from SSRS 2005 to support SSRS 2008. The existing 2005 versions of the standard reports are still available for use in standard reporting. Significant differences between SSRS 2008 and SSRS 2005 mean that users who have custom reports, and who also use Advanced Reporting, must test and possibly modify their custom reports before they work properly in Workforce Central Advanced Reports. Before converting, back up all custom report files and store them in SSRS 2005 format. All custom report files must be opened and saved in Visual Studio 2008 to convert them to SSRS 2008 format. Note that after a custom report file is opened and saved in Visual Studio 2008, the custom report file is saved permanently in SSRS 2008 format and cannot be edited in Visual Studio 2005. Test each report in SSRS 2008 to verify that it still functions correctly. Each report can be tested in either Visual Studio 2008 or in Advanced Reports with SSRS 2008. Examine the following: Inspect the report output in the various formats that are typically used at your institution (.pdf, xls, and so on). Verify that the formatting and data content are correct, and that no other errors are found.

If you encounter problems, modify the report definition file (RDL) in Visual Studio 2008. If you created a custom report in SSRS 2005 by changing an existing standard report, and it does not work correctly in SSRS 2008, it might be preferable to reapply the custom changes to the SSRS 2005 version of the standard report. Also, refer to http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143380(v=SQL.100).aspx for changes in SQL Server Reporting Services. Note: Unlike previous SSRS versions, SSRS 2008 does not require Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS). However, IIS can still be required for other applications that are used in the suite. Maintaining SSRS 2005 reports Vertical Scalability in the ARC Manager Exporting SSRS 2008 reports to Microsoft Word Scheduling implications for SSRS 2008 Advanced reports Versions of 2005 custom report files are still stored in the folder: \OtherReports ARC Manager now supports vertically scaled instances. In SSRS 2008, an option is available to export report output to Microsoft Word (.doc) format. This option is available in the SSRS 2008 Report Viewer, but Standard reports that are delivered with Workforce Central are not written to support .doc as an output format. As previously released, scheduling reports through Event Manager is supported in Workforce Central for RDLC 2005 format for Standard and custom reports, but scheduling reports in SSRS 2005 for Advanced reports is not supported.

22

Kronos Incorporated

Differences

In Workforce Central 6.2, scheduling reports in SSRS 2008 for Advanced reports is also not supported. In addition, both 2008 and 2005 RDLC format reports that are Standard and custom must continue to be scheduled in Workforce Central in RDLC 2005 format through Event Manager. Consequently, if you are using SSRS 2008, you must set up an RDLC 2005 format-equivalent version of the same RDLC 2008 format report if you want to schedule that report in Workforce Central with Event Manager. For more information, refer to the section Support for SSRS 2008 in the Reports chapter of the Workforce Central System Administrators Guide. Chinese traditional language support for Portal Workforce Central supports two variations of the Chinese Traditional language: Chinese Traditional - Hong Kong Chinese Traditional - Taiwan

However, SharePoint provides support only for Chinese Traditional - Taiwan. Therefore, Portal can create only Chinese Traditional - Taiwan sites in SharePoint, so that users in both regions must use the same site.

Developers Toolkit
Rounding result changes in Setup Data Manager New methods were added to the XML API to change the rounding method for imported labor standards and the associated pay code and wage additions. Using Setup Data Manager, the results of importing labor standards, and the associated pay code wage additions, did not accurately reflect the correct number of decimal places for the wage addition information (API tag WSAPayCode). Two new methods were added objectToString objectToDisplay

Both methods now use a boolean flag to preserve the decimal place of the imported data. The XML API code was modified to call the new methods. Before the change the maximum number of decimal places returned was three, as follows: Input number 2.1234567 2.120 Returned string 2.123 2.12

Beginning with this release, the method returns the same number of decimals as in the original input number that is stored in the database. After the change: Input number 2.1234567 2.12345670 Returned string 2.1234567 2.1234567

Workforce Central Suite v6.2 Release Notes

23

Differences

This change may impact other XML APIs because it is a change to the class. Some numbers that appear in the XML API request results may change from three decimal places to more than three decimal places. Note: This change will not increase the level of decimal precision unless the number that is stored in the database already contains a greater level of precision in the stored data.

Workforce Central Portal

Choice of hour types A web part enables you to view the number of hours worked, scheduled, or budgeted per patient per day for the selected time period and location. The hours can appear as direct, indirect, or totals.

Known Issues

Known Issues
Configuring SSRS 2008 with SSL
If you are planning to use IIS with an SSRS 2008 server, it is recommended that you configure IIS with SSL certificates before installing SSRS. If you already installed SSRS before configuring IIS with SSL certificates, you may be unable to edit or add an https connection to the Web Service URL and the Report Service URL in Reporting Service Configuration Manager. If this occurs, you can edit the rsreportserver.config as described below: 1. On the SSRS server, open the <install dir>\Program Files\Microsoft SQL

Server\MSRS10.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\ReportServer\rsreportserver.config file. 2. Edit the UrlString in the URLReservations tag with the following information, replacing the server name
with your server name, as shown in bold.
<URLReservations> <Application> <Name>ReportServerWebService</Name> <VirtualDirectory>ReportServer</VirtualDirectory> <URLs> <URL> <UrlString>http://+:80</UrlString> <AccountSid>S-1-5-18</AccountSid> <AccountName>LocalSystem</AccountName> </URL> <URL> <UrlString>https://server.domain.com:443</UrlString> <AccountSid>S-1-5-18</AccountSid> <AccountName>LocalSystem</AccountName> </URL> </URLs> </Application> <Application> <Name>ReportManager</Name> <VirtualDirectory>Reports</VirtualDirectory> <URLs> <URL> <UrlString>http://+:80</UrlString> <AccountSid>S-1-5-20</AccountSid> <AccountName>NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE</AccountName> </URL> <URL> <UrlString> https://server.domain.com:443</UrlString> <AccountSid>S-1-5-18</AccountSid> <AccountName>LocalSystem</AccountName> </URL> </URLs> </Application> </URLReservations>

Known Issues

Workforce Timekeeper
Under certain circumstances, there are issues with cascading pay code edits that have been edited after they are created. The circumstances are explained in the following issues: TAL-15741, TAL-15742, TAL-15743, TAL-15801, TAL-16117. Consult your Service Representative for more information about configuring this feature.

Workforce Activities
ACT-4745 A misleading message appears when an invalid or non-existent Activity name is entered into the FDE form. The error message that appears is "Invalid duration." There is no issue with the duration amount. If you know that the duration amount is correct, review the entry in the FDE form and re-enter the correct name. A manager with a function access control point of Timecard Access set to None is restricted from modifying a labor event or a cell event. The system appears to allow the change to the cell event, but then returns to the page with the original values. No changes are made to either value when the access is None. Encoded characters replace the hyphen character (-) when an activity profile name contains the hyphen. For example, an activity profile named "Start-Stop" appears as "Start&#45;Stop." This occurs in the following items: Activity Profile Form Profile Result Code Profiles Result Codes Activity Configurations Field Definitions Users Unit of Measure

ACT-4701

ACT-4690

Workaround: Avoid special characters in names. ACT-4673 Duration amounts that exceed the maximum are not validated after the first attempt. When the initial entry on the Activities tab of the timecard is greater than the allowed maximum, the system correctly returns an error that the maximum was exceeded. If the entry is changed but still exceeds the maximum, the system should reject the entry again, but instead it accepts it. A holiday credit rule, which includes a meal break, that pays "as if worked" is creating an incorrect Activity when a Pay Code Action is configured using the pay code created by the holiday credit rule. The Activity Event Editor does not allow saving after it clears an existing Standards Quantity value. It leaves a blank or zero value. Messages to the user are inconclusive. The user is incorrectly given an error message when trying to save a "0" or blank value. Workaround: Make edits to the Standards Quantity within the Activity Editor.

The concurrent activity function is not working properly when grouping Activity Duration spans together for an Activity Duration Entry employee in the timecard. The changes are saved, but the screen does not refresh completely and an out-of-bounds error message appears.

Workforce Integration Manager

WFM-7479 WFM-7378 WFM-7352 WFM-7289 WFM-7228 The Include accrual carryover limit option is not working correctly. Batch totals from batch header or batch footer do not work correctly. The totals may often be 0. When using special expanded wages, Integration Manager outputs 0 for all the totals. If Workforce Timekeeper is the source and needs a pay code wage rate at the end of a pay period, Integration Manager returns the pay code wage rate at the beginning of the period. Incorrect output order for account and pay code record intervals. With Workforce Timekeeper input, Workforce Connect outputs records for a given employee with each account record followed by the pay code records that share the same account ID and date. In contrast, Workforce Integration Manager outputs all pay code records and then all labor records. The record types are not intermingled. Views When a link uses Workforce Timekeeper as the source or uses the Payroll Prep option, Integration Manager uses the following new views during processing: VP_WIMALLTOTALS VP_WIMPRPALLTOTALS

Appendix A, Timekeeping Reference in the Workforce Integration Manager Programmers Guide incorrectly lists these views instead: VU_ALLTOTALS VU_PRPALLTOTALS

See the knowledgebase for an updated version of that appendix.

Workforce Record Manager

UTL-6801 If you are running Workforce Record Manager after upgrading Workforce Central, the table columns may not match between your source and target databases. This issue causes the application to pause the Job due to an error.

Workforce Scheduler
CE-26173 WFM-22694 If the status of an employee changes from inactive to active, the HyperFind query does not update. In Employee Self-Service (ESS) for Scheduling, employees may not be able to see open shifts during an open shift visibility period. This issue will be resolved in an early 6.2 service pack. Workaround: Save again the open shift visibility period to update the HyperFind query.

CE-29142 WFM-11232

Performance of location queries in the Schedule Planner is slow. The HyperFind query requires 2 similar SQL calls to the database. This issue is similar to CE-28723, and will be resolved in version 6.3.

SCH-13303 WFM-22289

When you create or delete a procedure set for the Call List, the change is updated only on the local server. Workaround: If you create or delete procedure sets for the Call List on multiple servers, restart each server to refresh the server cache.

SCH-13608 WFM-22424 SCH-13750 WFM-22371

The Location Schedule weekly report does not display the short names of pay codes. This issue will be resolved in an early 6.2 service pack. The Schedule Planner displays an incorrect number of scheduled hours in the second day after a midnight shift that spans a change from Daylight Saving Time to Standard Time. The error occurs in the Sch Hrs column, Totals row; Rule Violations, Hours Summary, Metrics, and Hours/Volume tabs; and the Coverage graph. The Event Manager cannot purge organizational map locations. Workaround: Manually purge the organizational map.

WFM-22547

WFM-22570

After a database upgrade, you cannot generate the Scheduled Employee Schedule - Monthly report. This issue will be resolved in an early 6.2 service pack. Workaround: To generate this report as a scheduled event, delete the existing event from the Event Manager. Then, schedule this report from the Reports workspace.

WFM-22685

In an SQL database, performance is slow in ESS for Scheduling > My Requests. The following tables (columns) require indexes: REQSTATCHANGE (REQUESTITEMID) REQSTATCHANGE (FROMSTSTUSID) REQSTATCHANGE (TOSTATUSID) REQSTATCHANGE (USERACCOUNTID) REQSTSTCHGCMNTMM (REQSTSTCHGEID) REQUESTTYPE (REQUESTTYPENM) REQSUBMISSIONCONTROL (REQPERIODTYPEID, SUBMISSIONENDDTM, SUBMISSIONSTARTDTM) REQUESTSUBTYPEPARMVAL (REQUESTSUBTYPEID) SWAPSHFTREQITEM (OFFEMPID)

In the legacy version of ESS for Scheduling, requests to swap shifts, for open shifts, and to cover a shift can raise an error that the "Organizational job was not found.... personnumber is null."

Workforce Forecast Manager

SCH-13558 CE-28102 When Workforce Scheduler systems are configured for vertical scalability (multiple instances of the same system), changes to data in the Forecast Map appear in only one instance. The database is aware of only one instance, and cannot update the caches for all instances in realtime. Workaround: Restart the server instance after you update a category on the forecast map.

Reporting
Configuring SSRS 2008 with SSL WFM-23010 If you are using IIS with an SSRS 2008 and are configuring it with SSL, you may be unable to configure it properly. Refer to the topic Configuring SSRS 2008 with SSL on page 26 for more information. Oracle customers who run 64-bit SSRS platforms for Advanced Reporting must change the IA data source to use a 64-bit compatible driver. ARC Manager creates the IA data source using the MSDAORA driver, which does not exist on 64-bit platforms and is only available on 32-bit platforms. Therefore, the driver must be changed for IA data source if you are running a 64bit platform. Workaround: Modify the Data Source Type and Connection String of the IA data source in Report Manager To replace the OLEDB driver with a .NET driver: 1.Open http://localhost/reports on the SSRS server. 2 Locate the IA data source in the instance folder. 3.In the Properties tab of the IA data source, a. Change the Data Source Type property value to "Oracle." b. Remove "Provider=MSDAORA.1;" from the Connection String property. PLF-18954 When the system setting in the Reports tab, site.reporting.reptimetolive, is set to a large number of hours, the log files stdoutwfc.log and server.log under the jboss directory become too big and use all the disk space on your system, making the system unusable.

Known Issues

Workaround: The maximum value for this setting should be 20,000 hours (approximately 2.3 years). PLF-18183 If you try to upgrade Workforce Worksheet or select the Repair option from the Uninstall, or Change a program window, the following error occurs: The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2869. Workaround: Uninstall the existing version, named Kronos Workforce Worksheet in Add/Remove programs and install the latest version of Workforce Worksheet. PLF-18221 A clean installation of Workforce Worksheet on Windows XP with Office 2010 does not work. Workaround: Install .NET Framework 2.0 or later on your Windows XP system before you install Office Excel 2010. This ensures that Primary Interop Assemblies (PIA's) are installed automatically when you install Office Excel 2010. WFM-22862 When you create a custom report option with a report header, you may get the error message "Error occurred when adding a custom option to the database." Workaround: You can ignore this message.
