Miss.

Rihab Bouden

Like all English teachers, I observe that my tests conform to both the
requirements of the official syllabus in terms of topics, skills and activities and
the recommendations of the official texts that regulate assessment in Tunisian
preparatory schools. Also, they shall reflect the learning expected to have been
acquired via the official textbooks in use. And most essentially, they shall
comprise integrative-type tasks (Vocabulary + Grammar + listening + context
clues etc.)
Here is the list of the various types of tasks and items that I used in the midterm tests to assess both 7th and 9th graders.

My comments:
Most of my students have successfully passed the
listening part. And almost of the total number of
students have had their average in the language part.
Its obvious that they could re-invest what they have
acquired (both lexically or grammatically speaking) in
their test papers. However, 10 of them have failed both
parts. I think this is just the beginning, and I
expect better results in the coming tests.

My comments:
This class hasnt successfully passed the test. As we
7

can see, the number of students without average

surpasses that of those with average. I guess the
level of these students needs much care and
observation. Next time, I will make greater effort to
give them more suitable tasks. I discovered that they
werent able to re-invest the acquired lexis as well
as structures as it was expected.

My comments:
The test was not a success although it was equipped
with pictures. I havent estimated my students level
appropriately. The spelling part was a catastrophe
despite the fact that I gave them 3 worksheets about
family members. I think 7th form learners need more
remedial work.
