Introduction A reliable database is the prerequisite for the micro level planning in any sector. There is a growing need for such database with systematic attempt to make such planning a success. India is a developing country and leading towards with great internal and international pressure to be a developed country by year 2020. Lots of efforts are put to make pace with increase demand of development in any sector. This need a systematized approach in implementing various projects/schemes and it is also necessary to carryout timely evaluation of impact of such projects/schemes by independent professional agencies, creating a demand of reliable professional agencies who can provide reliable database based on which success of such projects/schemes can be achieved. Keeping this in mind foundation of United Research Organization (URO), Vadodara was laid in 1997 now known as United Survey & Research Organization (USRO), Vadodara. Since day one USRO is dedicated to quality research work.

Type of Services Provided and area of Operation At initial stage USRO started providing ground level assistance to big institutions involved in Survey Research field by carrying out primary data collection, collection of secondary information required to meet the subject demand in the state of Gujarat. Realizing the high quality of professional services of USRO these institutions started imparting regular business flow to USRO. Today USRO is working in the states of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and UTs of Daman & Diu, Dadar & Nagar Haveli. USRO is now independently carrying out tasks of complete Research Projects. This includes data collection, data entry, data analysis, tabulation of data and report writing. Currently USRO is carrying out projects/surveys in the sector of Socio-economic, Health, Poverty Eradication, Education, Infrastructure Development, Traffic and Transportation, Rural and Urban Development. It took very little to USRO for achieving the name for its reliable and accurate data based information and reports. Various Govt. Departments, National and International Agencies recognize USRO for its reliability and accuracy in Research field and giving regular business.

The main objectives of the USRO in the area of survey research are as follows:

Carry out field surveys, using statistical sampling techniques, in diverse areas such as public health including Epidemiology; Environment; Socioeconomic; Population etc. Carry out research in survey methodology. Conduct training programme in survey and research methodology and use of statistical software packages. Publish technical reports, monographs, relating to the fields of activity of the Organization. Exchange information with other institutions and experts engaged in similar activities through seminars, conferences, etc. Maintain computerized data banks.

The Organization also offers the following services to other institutions / individuals. 1. Undertaking field studies and sample surveys on any specific topic needed by the clients. The services offered by USRO include:Definition of the problem Specifying the objectives of research and Computer (Internet) search for relevant literature on similar studies carried out elsewhere in the country and abroad. Survey Design Developing the most appropriate survey design along with estimate of sample size needed for the survey for achieving the specified objectives. Questionnaire Design The Organization will develop all the necessary tools and protocols required for the survey, such as, schedules/questionnaires, instructions for field workers, etc. including translation of questionnaire in local languages and test them in the field before using them in the main survey. Data collection The Organization has a panel of well-experienced investigators who will carry out data collection in the field. If required we may also recruit suitable field personnel in accordance with the type and volume of data collection work. In any case all field personnel will be given thorough training - both classroom as well as field practical - in the survey instruments designed for each specific survey topic. E) Data analysis and preparation of technical reports The Organization has a computer system with modern software including MS Office and a statistical analysis package. 5

The Organization undertakes data entry with 100 % verification of data entered and other editing. Data analysis will be undertaken with the constant supervision of senior professionals using the most pertinent statistical methods. Preparation of final tables and finally reports also will be undertaken by the Organization. The Organization can also prepare materials for presentation of the results before an audience. 1. The organizations experts on the specific topics/field can undertake project evaluation studies at local and national level. 2. Market survey on specific need can be undertaken in collaboration with Management Division. 3. Workshop/training programs can be conducted on Research Methodology with emphasis on survey methodology, statistics including econometric, demographic and epidemiological methods with the use of specialized computing software of statistical applications. 4. Special services to post graduate and other researchers at concession rates. The literature search relevant to the research topics through internet could be provided if suitable key words are provided for the respective research work. In order to encourage the research scholars who are not getting any financial support, fifty percent concession would be provided to them besides free consultation.
