RESEARCH PROJECTS

Academic credit may be earned by students at all three degree levels (B. Sc., M. Sc., and Ph. D.) by working on specific research or design projects. Undergraduate students normally choose relatively straightforward subjects while graduate (M. Sc., and Ph. D.) students take on increasing responsibilities in state-of-the-art research. Current research projects of the High Voltage Laboratory faculty include:

LIGHTNING PROTECTION RESEARCH PROJECTS:

Study on Lightning Performance of Wind Turbine Blade Specimen Study on the electrical degradation of Wind Turbine Blades. Principal Investigator: Dr. S. Grzybowski.

Evaluation of Emission Current from Static Dissipation Elements Study of the emission current from static dissipation element, spline ball ionizer at DC voltage, lightning impulse and switching impulse for positive and negative polarities. Principal Investigator: Dr. S. Grzybowski.

Investigation on the Electrical Strength of the Distribution Line Elements Under Steep Front, Short Duration Pulses Study on the CFO voltage and V-t characteristics of the 15 kV Distribution Insulators, and Insulators plus Wood Crossarm under Steep Front, Short Duration Pulses, and 60/150 ns.
