About Sun-A-Ray
The Sun-A-Ray Technologies solar tracker was design by remote power installers with 12 years of experience and with hundreds of varied off-grid systems installed. Sun-A-Ray trackers come in larger sizes, 415 square feet and 520 square feet of array surface area. Depending upon which panel manufacturer you choose the trackers can accommodate up to 8 kW. The tracker is commercial grade built of durable powder coated or galvanized steel for strength and longevity. The drive motors are top quality worm drive motors; gear reduced for torque in high winds with a proven light seeking controller. Our goal is the same as yours - to have a dependable long lasting tracker.

Tracker Controller
Sun-A-Ray Trackers use 110v AC controller and motors for movement. We have chosen this due to the variation of DC voltage outputs that can occur with todays MPPT charge controllers. The AC controller has the ability to return the array to the east position after the sun has set, giving it an advantage by tracking the sun from sunrise to sunset; allowing the end user maximum production from the array. One of the advantages of our larger sized arrays is that they match up well with a single grid-tied inverter which can be mounted at the tracker, giving easy access to 110v AC power. In an off-grid application it would be easy to run an extra conduit to bring 110v power from the inverter out to the array. From a power usage stand point it is irrelevant, if you are pulling DC power from the PV panels or back feeding power from the inverter. If you choose a tracker you are already looking to maximize the total output from the array so why not have the tracker facing east and ready to go when the sun rises.

Foundation Options
With the tripod design of the SUN-A-RAY you have different foundation types to choose from to match your job site requirements; a slab/footing design, helical piers or concrete footings. One of these foundations should meet your needs for most any project site you come across. In large quantities the helical pier may be the fastest option.

The tracker can tilt from flat to 55 degrees and turn 220 degrees on the azimuth, so no matter your location the Sun-A-Ray can achieve maximum production from your array. Assembling the Sun-A-Ray tracker is simple and quick. With only 4 main components to bolt together, 3 guys and a piece of equipment can assemble a unit in about 2 hours. If helical piers are used for the foundation, a completed foundation can be done in about an hour.

Drive Motors
One area of concern for all trackers is the drive motors; we have chosen a top quality Italian made worm drive motor with a reduced gear box. Motor Specs: Gearbox Ratio: 1:1200 Motor Speed: 1638 Output Speed of Gearbox: 1.36 RPM Gearbox Output: 25mm Hollow Bore Maximum Output Torque: 236 Nm (2088 in-lb) Motor V; 1~115/60
