Introduction
1.1
Purpose
This manual contains information and procedures for the setup, tuning, testing / operation, maintenance, and
trouble shooting of the Tunable Narrow Guard Band 1900 MHz Low Loss Combiner (LLC) which is used in
conjunction with CCIs RX-AIT (Receive Antenna Interface Tray) solution. The 1900 MHz LLC is utilized to
share a feed-line for UMTS and GSM thus allowing addition of UMTS BTS equipment to existing GSM cell sites
without the need to add coaxial cable or other equipment to the cell site. The 1900 MHz LLC can also be used
to add cdma2000 (or 3G technologies including 1X, 1xEV-DO and 1xEV-DV) BTS equipment to existing
CDMA200 or cdmaOne (2G CDMA) cell sites without the need to add coaxial cable or other equipment to the
CDMA cell site. The model covered herein is designed for use in the 1900 MHz band.
This manual will include sections on Introduction, Safety, Pre-Installation, Operating Instructions, Initial Startup
and Operating Instructions, Maintenance, and Troubleshooting. It will also include appendices containing
Component Specifications, Valid UARFCN Channel Numbers for 1900 MHz, Preferred CDMA Channels
(Frequency Assignments) for Band Class 1 (1900 MHz) Band Subclass 1, CDMA Channel Number to CDMA
Frequency Assignment Correspondence for Band Class 1 and CCIs Return Policy as well as an RMA (Return
Material Authorization) form.
Please note that Installation and Integration of the LLC within an RX-AIT solution will be covered within CCIs
RX-AIT System Integration Manual.

Application
CCIs Narrow Guard Band 1900 MHz Low Loss Combiner allows combining of UMTS and GSM onto a
single feeder line without the insertion loss normally associated with passive combiners. Multiple LLCs
can be utilized for deployment of additional UMTS channels. Similarly in CDMA applications, the 1900
MHz LLC allows for addition of cdma2000 or 3G (technologies including 1X, 1xEV-DO and 1xEV-DV) BTS
equipment to existing cdmaOne or 2G CDMA.
Note, other applications for the 1900 MHz LLC include:
1.3.3
1)
Combining of multiple UMTS signals if the proper bandwidth is available, and providing that the
channels passed to the Bandstop filter only contain Tx (no Rx) only signals.
2)
Combining of multiple CDMA channels, providing that the channels passed to the Bandstop filter
contain Tx (no Rx) only signals.
