Gowtham Masters in Electrical / Telecommunications Engineering Fall 2010

I would like to introduce myself as an undergraduate student of Electronics and Communication Engineering department from S.R.K.R Engineering College, Bhimavaram, affiliated to Andhra University, Vizag At the onset of what I imagine to be an opportunity to test and transcend the domain of scientific discovery. I stand to make the following observations about my educational background and my future plans. I was fortunate to have my formal education in reputable institutes. High levels of excellence have marked my academic career, right from the primary school to higher secondary school consistently. My schooling provided me with the much necessary foundation for a scientific approach in life. I opted for Maths, Physics and Chemistry as my major subjects at the PreUniversity level. Maintaining the same rhythm, I drew the attention of my teachers and Peers and my endeavors were appreciated. My fascination for electronics and communications embarked in the final years of my schooling which propelled me to take up the same as the major course in engineering. To fulfill the ambition I took the first step in that direction by writing EAMCET in year 2006. And this helped me in getting admission in reputable engineering colleges. The undergraduate program offered training in basic sciences, engineering mathematics and computer programming. Apart from these, I had a wide exposure to Electronics and Communication subjects such as Electronics circuits, Electronic device and component technology, microprocessor, analog Communication, digital Communication, digital signal processing (DSP), very large scale integration (VLSI),computer networks, data communications, satellite communications etc,. I have been backed by sound theoretical knowledge complemented with rigorous practical work. I have supplemented my course work through independent study. My keen interest and competence in Electronics and Communication is evident from my performance in subjects of my course and all the related laboratory works. The student initiative centered approach to learning at our college has modeled me well for graduate studies (Tele Communications) by motivating me to be more knowledge seeking, responsible and selfconfident.This is a fast growing and advancing industry that offers a wide range of opportunities for research professionals. Growth of IT enabled services will compel the expansion of existing telecom infrastructure both for wireless and fixed network communication. Thus, business opportunities for telecom hardware manufacturers appear to be quite promising.This discipline equips students to plan, install and upgrade network hardware and software, manage an up-and-running network, and configure, maintain and troubleshoot computers that are attached to a network.No other industry touches as many technology-related business sectors as telecommunications, which by definition encompasses not only the traditional areas of local and long-distance telephone services, but also advanced technology-based services including wireless communications, the Internet, fiber optics and satellites.Our telecommunications and data infrastructure support offerings in the areas of mobile telephony (voice and video based multimedia), fibre-optic broadband networks, fixed-line services and radio broadcasting.Last year, the total number of subscribers climbed to almost 65 million, representing a healthy growth rate of 38.6 percent. It is expected that telecommunications market has the potential to grow to between 110 million and 120 million subscribers over the next five years, and achieve a penetration rate of 50 percent.The function of a handset has moved beyond voice calls, and it is now a device used to transmit data. Based on an analysis of several

telecommunications operators, voice calls reach a maturity level, with minutes of usage of around 50-60 minutes per user per month. . It is by desire rather than coincidence that I apply to your university. It is your university which is at the forefront of technology, and thus I wish to be a part of highly qualified alumni of your university. Firstly my interest matches very closely with the faculty in this department. Secondly, I feel that your university, with the experienced and excellent faculty, modern facilities and extensive libraries, will provide the right environment to develop my talents. The only certainty about technology in an ever-changing world, and how it affects modern life, is that, changes in society will accelerate at an increase pace. Whatever marveled a few years ago is routine today, the extraordinary that we aspire for now is ordinary tomorrow and the inventions of the future will be things, which we hardly imagine today. I wish to be a small, though significant part of that future science. I am sure that I possess the qualities of working hard and being perseverant in addition to intellectual ability and rive that are needed to do justice to study at your university. Besides academics, I have participated in many national level technical events organized in and out of our college. I thank this opportunity given to express myself and if given the chance, I shall prove worthy of every encouragement given by you. Last but not the least your faculty is reputed as one of the finest in USA, and I would really consider it a great privilege to work under such able guidance as yours. I am confident that with my solid undergraduate work and willingness to pursue new admissions and research, I can perform to my best and meet the high standards set by your university. Hence it is with utmost confidence that I seek admission into the graduate program at your esteemed university.
