Brooklyn, NY Vigilantes? Outlaws? Or just red-blooded patriots? Armed and tireless, the selfappointed watchdogs of the U.S./Mexico border are taking the illegal immigration issue into their own hands. Filmed over four years, filmmakers Corey Wascinski and Nicholas Weissman bring you this intimate and open-minded documentary which takes you into the conflicted lives of scrappy border town USA soccer moms and eccentric old-timers in mountaintop trailer homes, who are in a constant struggle to secure the sprawling border, while maintaining their own sanity in an isolating and dangerous landscape. Regardless of your political beliefs you will find "The Minutemen" charged with real people in a real world with real concerns. Now available on Itunes and Zune Marketplace. Regardless of your political beliefs, you can embrace The Minutemen Movie as an indie film upholding the honored tradition of independent filmmaking. For decades we have been losing this tradition as more and more indies move closer and closer to mainstream filmmaking. But Wascinski does not cave in to political orthodoxy. He tells a story and gives voice instead of delivering a platform to embrace or reject. We see real people in a real world with real concerns, even when we disagree with them.
ABOUT In 2005, aggravated by the influx of undocumented immigrants and fed up with the lack of government involvement, the Minutemen positioned themselves along the U.S. / Mexico border. Armed, energetic, and bound by common ideals, they are a diverse, often fragmented group of disillusioned freedom fighters led by modern-day Don Quixote Lil Dog and his four legged companion Freckles. Zealous and often comical, these subjects exist in what many believe to be the realm of vigilantism. This cinema vrit documentary follows nine of these eccentric, selfappointed watchdogs as they fight to regain their sovereignty as well as their own sanity in an isolated and dangerous landscape. Filmed over the course of four years, we examine the motivations of and relationships between these conflicted patriots. With new immigration laws raising the public consciousness about border issues, THE MINUTEMEN gives insight into the role citizen watchdogs play in influencing government policy.
