PURPOSE OF BULLETIN:
Please Update the Copier MSC firmware when setting up the unit. A Compact Flash card with the latest MSC Firmware is enclosed with the machines shipped from the warehouse. If the CF card is not enclosed or misplaced, you can also download the firmware from the Technical Support web site. Problem Corrected By New Firmware: Electronic (Total) Counter value shown on the control panel will reset to 0 after the machine reaches a count of 65,536. If your machine counter has already reached to 65,536 and now shows zero or very low number, upgrade the MSC firmware as mentioned below and the electronic counter will be automatically reset to correct copy count. New firmware version: Phase2.0 firmware : MSC firmware: 4040-0100-G10-25-002. Check sum: e832 (This check sum will be displayed on panel after update is completed.) Phase1.0 firmware : MSC firmware: 4040-0100-G10-12-002. Check sum: 8a4f (This check sum will be displayed on panel after update is completed.)

At the next service call, please check the MSC firmware version on the machine. If it is not already at 25 or 12 upgrade the MSC firmware. The machines that have already been upgraded at the factory will have a Yellow dot on the carton, near the serial number.

After setting up unit completely, please upgrade the firmware by using the following procedure. For preparing compact flash (32MB or more and FAT format) by yourself, see Service manual (Field Service > Maintenance > 6. firmware upgrade) Note: Never attempt to remove or insert the compact flash with the machine power turned ON.

PROCEDURE:

1. Turn OFF the main power switch. 2. Remove the Compact Flash Cover [1].

3. Insert the compact flash card [2] into the slot.

Note:

Be sure to turn ON the sub switch first before turning ON the main power switch.

4. Turn ON the main power switch. 5. The firmware upgrading sequence will start. 6. When the upgrading sequence is completed, which is notified by the message FINISH appearing on the screen, turn OFF the main power switch.
Last 4 digits is e832 or 8a4f.

Note:

NEVER turn OFF the main power switch until the message FINISH appears on the screen.

Remove the compact flash card [2] from the slot. Close the compact flash cover [1]. Turn ON the main power switch. Call the Tech Rep. Mode to the screen. Select [ROM version]. 12. Make sure if the version of firmware is updated.
