Caf de los Viejos Tiempos

Belisario Roldn 33
In Caf de los Viejos Tiempos, the owner was extremely nice. He treated us like family, joked with us, and yet, served us promptly and neatly. When he took our order, he memorized our orderno need for a notepad with a memory like his. The presentation of the food was very formal and fancy. The atmosphere was darker-lit, featuring posters of different rock groups such as The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. The background music was Latin Pop featuring bands like Camila and Sin Bandera. Once more people came to the restaurant, the owner turned up the lights and everything was much livelier, but relaxed. As we walked into the restaurant, we saw a few tables; however, once we acknowledged the booths on the far end of the restaurant, we headed straight there. They had three round booths that felt comfy and private. I almost forgot that we were in Argentina for a bit, mentioned Stephanie. If you want a calm place to escape, this is definitely the caf to be at.

The torta de chocolate, or chocolate cake, was very delicious and scrumptious, according to Paola and Charmaine. The two-layer cake had dulce de leche (caramel) in the middle. Although it wasnt as soft as American cake, the thin layer of chocolate frosting with white chocolate on top made it unbelievably tasty. It was a huge piece; bigger than a typical piece served in America! The serving was about the size of a cheesecake slice from The Cheesecake Factory. It appears on the first page of the menu as torta, and it cost 18 pesos. It was very worth it!

Because of the cold temperature, Paola also decided to try the Caf de los Viejos Tiempos drink, which contains coffee, dulce de leche liquor, rum, and shaved chocolate. The liquor was very strong, which made the drink a little unpleasant however, it definitely warmed up the body.

The way the menu described the pancho reminded Jeremy of bruschetta on French bread, but in the end, it turned out to be a Panini-ed hotdog with mustard. It was literally a hotdog with a hotdog bun and covered with mustard. The price was 12 pesos.

For the hot chocolate, Submarinos, it was very delicious. It was bitter without the sugar, so make sure to add the sugar in it. It was really thick and chocolatey, and for some reason, once you add the sugar, it turned creamy.

The pizza was really good according to Lauren and Stephanie. I really liked the sauce-tocheese ratio because there was very little sauce. The cheese was really good, also. There are few olives that come on it, but they are easily removable. The pizza served eight people and cost 35 pesos.

Overall, we give Caf de los Viejos a 10/10. The owner told us not to tip him, just because he was the owner. He was very accommodating and welcoming. We definitely recommend going back to this restaurant.
