Abdur Rahim Khan-e-Khana (1556-1627), popularly known as Rahim, is a great Hindi poet belonging to the times of Mughal emperor

Akbar. He was also one of the Navratnas (the main nine ministers) of Akbars courts. Rahim had also written books on Astrology. Akbar was the great admirer of Rahim. Rahim had full command over Sanskrit language also. Rahim has writen mostly the Dohas. He also translated Babars memoirs into Persian language from Chagatai language. Bairam Khan, Akbars trusted caretaker, was the father of Mirza Abdul Rahim Khan-e-Khana. His mother was the daughter of Jamal Khan of Mewat. The birth place of Abdul Rahim was Lahore (now in Pakistan). After murdered of Bairam Khan, his wife was remarried with Akbar and Rahim became the stepson of emperor. Rahim was a Muslim by birth but he was a devotee of Lord Krishna and wrote poetry dedicated to him. He was also an enthusiastic Astrologer and the writer of two important books on Astrology viz. Khet Kautukam and Dwawishd Yogavali which are still popular. Jehangir, the son of Akbar, became Emperor and killed tow sons of Rahim and left their dead bodies at the Khooni Darwaja because Rahim did not favour Jehangirs accession. The tomb of Rahim, built by his wife in his memory, is situated ahead of Humayuns Tomb in New Delhi.
