Abstract

This research aims to observe the rear shock absorbers of Daihatsu Xenia.
The shock absorbers of Daihatsu Xenia often get complaints from the customer
because it is less comfortable. Its suspension is mac person with a coil spring type.
Then the shock absorber is single action with oil type as its media. In this research,
we only limit on the rear shock absorber. In a vehicle, shock absorber reduces the
effect of traveling over rough ground, leading to improve ride quality and increase in
comfort. While shock absorbers serve the purpose of limiting excessive suspension
movement, their sole intended purpose is to dampen spring oscillations. Shock
absorber valving use of oil and gasses to absorb excess energy from the springs.
Spring rates are chosen by the manufacturer based on the weight of the vehicle,
loaded and unloaded. Some people use shocks to modify spring rates but this is not
the correct use. Along with hysteresis in the tire Itself, they dampen the energy
stored in the motion of the unsprung weight up and down. Effective wheel bounce
damping may require tuning shocks to an optimal resistance.

Preface

In the name of Allah SWT, we want to say thanks to God for making us
finished our research report which have a title Observation of Rear Shock Absorber
Daihatsu Xenia on time. This research report presents analysis of suspension and
shock absorber in vehicles, especially in the Daihatsu Xenia.
In this case we would say thanks to :

Mrs. Ayu Deasy as the lecturer

All my friends from Automotive Engineering Politeknik Manufaktur Astra
And the last is for all who helped us, but we can not put their name in this
report because the spaces

Hopefully, this research report can be useful for everyone who read this report.
For sure, we need constructive critics and suggestions for the better us.
