Goal
How can XML (Excel, HTML or PDF) output be created for Financial Statement Generator (FSG) reports in release 11.5.10 or 12.X?

Solution
To publish FSG reports using XML Publisher, you must run the FSG program to generate your FSG report in XML output and then run XML Publisher to apply the layout and formatting of a report template to your FSG report (two step publishing method). You can do run the FSG from the Run Financial Reports window or from the Submit Requests window. You can also generate the XML output and publish your FSG report's XML output through the Submit Requests window from a single submission request (one step publishing method). 1. One Step Publishing method (using your General Ledger responsibility) Reports > Request > Standard Select 'Program - Publish FSG Report' Enter the parameters. Then in the 'Upon Completion...' block, click the Options button. Specify your Template and Format: Excel, PDF, HTML. Rate this document Note that the FSG: Basic Template does not support Excel output. To use a custom template, it must be registered with XML Publisher - see Note 277940.1. One request is submitted with the name 'Program - Publish FSG Report': RGFSGXML is run to create the FSG XML output. Then in the background, the JAVA concurrent manager, Output Post Processor (OPP) automatically applies the layout template to the generated XML data file and creates the Output File. Output is the formatted XML output. To see the actual XML file (with the tags): - On the Requests form, with the request highlighted, click the Diagnostics button then View XML. To see the Output Post Processor (OPP) log file (this will be needed in case of error): see Note 364547.1 for the instructions. For release 11i, there is an Enhancement Request (ER) logged for this functionality: Bug 4243544 ENH:FSG ONE STEP PUBLISHING SHOULD INCLUDE OTHER OUTPUT OPTIONS Currently for 'Program - Publish FSG Report', the PDF output is implied. We need to add another parameter that will allow users to select an output like in the XML Publisher program.

2. Two Step Publishing method (using your General Ledger responsibility) a. Run the FSG, in one of 2 ways: 1. Reports > Request > Standard Select 'Program - Run Financial Statement Generator' Enter the parameters. Select Output Type: XML Two requests are submitted: 'Program - Run Financial Statement Generator' This is the RG30RFSG module, which does nothing more than spawn the second request, which is the actual FSG creation. The output of this request just tells us the request id for the FSG (RGRARG request). '<Report name> (Financial Statement Generator)' This is the RGRARG module. The output of this is the XML file (with tags). OR 2. Reports > Request > Financial For the output option, choose XML. One request is submitted, with the name '<Report name> (Financial Statement Generator)'. This is the RGRARG module. The output of this is the XML file (with tags).

b. Run the XML Report Publisher: Reports > Request > Standard Select 'XML Report Publisher' For the 'Report Request' parameter, select the FSG request that was run via one of the two options above. Select your Template for the FSG, language and output format. One request is submitted, with the name 'Financial Statement Generator (XML Report Publisher)'. This is the XDOREPPB module, which takes the XML file from your FSG request and formats the data. The output is the formatted XML output.
