ITRA Samaj is striving for the overall improvement of health and socio-economic condition of Nepalese people. It's forwarding its endeavors for empowerment of society through various research, strategic behavior communication, organizational development and social marketing thereby contributing in achieving national goal of poverty alleviation. In line with the its vision MITRA Samaj will; Conduct research and provide technical support in order to contribute for poverty alleviation, improvement in health, education and development of society. Implement capacity building and human resource development programs by working with the NGO, CBO, civil society organizations and other institutions to contribute for developing strong vibrant civil society. Develop a wider network and forge partnership to contribute for achieving goals of poverty alleviation and inclusive development in the national and international level. Implement Social Marketing and Strategic Behavior Communication campaign to achieve positive behavior change to contribute in improvement of health, education and development of society. Implement empowerment programs for disadvantaged women, dalits, and other ethnic groups to increase their access to poverty alleviation initiatives thereby contributing in poverty alleviation.

MITRA Samaj works to support national goals as outlined in government policy, strategic and planning documents. It provides technical assistance to the Government at national, district and local level by promoting Public Private Partnership (PPP) for Social Marketing of Family Planning (FP); Maternal Child Health (MCH) and HIV/AIDS Prevention Products and Services.

Social Mobilization/Health Program Implementation: MITRA Samaj has a pool of technical experts including medical doctors and highly experienced social mobilizer who have worked in remote areas of the country to implement health program including organizing mobile health camps, implementing safe motherhood programs, Maternal and Child Health, Family Planning and Child Health programs through social mobilization for deprived and marginalized class of the society.

Research: MITRA Samaj has capacity of carrying out research on health as well as non health sector. MITRA Samaj has completed number of research and evaluations; to name few End line evaluation of Youth Friendly Services implemented by Family Planning Association of Nepal and funded by UNFPA; Final evaluation of Safe Motherhood Innovation Project implemented by ADRA, Strategic review of Radio Health Program implemented by NFHP/USAID, Field Monitoring of VCT implemented by GTZ, GIS mapping to monitor products and services performance.

Strategic Behavioral Communication including materials development, media production, and public relation: With internationally acclaimed and recognized professionals in the team, MITRA Samaj is competent in designing and implementing strategic behavior communication strategies, Information Education and Communication (IEC) materials and audio/visual mass media campaigns. It holds the credit of having a pool of professionals who have formal education and wealth of experience in this area. Also, the team of MITRA Samaj is comprised of the individual who lead a Global award winning project on HIV/AIDS.

Organizational Development: The professional team of MITRA Samaj has more than two decades of experience on capacity building of employees and organizations. An organizational assessments tool was developed and assessment of four local organizations was carried out with technical support from Harvard Business School graduate. The team has extensive experience in the area of need identification followed by organizational capacity assessment, capacity development, curriculum design, training and evaluation of capacity building activities at various levels.

Management Support: MITRA Samaj holds expertise on providing technical and management support, conferences/ seminars to match tailored needs. In addition, the team has experience in strengthening the system in equipment and commodities and disposal of commodities and equipment.

Social Marketing: Team members of MITRA Samaj have almost a half decade of hands-on experience in social marketing of the health products and services in their capacity as program managers of leading international social marketing organization with formal education on Social Marketing from University of South Florida.

MITRA SAMAJS WORKING AREAS

Gender and development: One of major focus of the MITRA Samaj is to facilitate inclusive development focused on equal participation of men, women, dalits and other ethnic community. MITRA Samaj is working towards achieving results in various remote districts of Nepal by helping women and youth to acquire knowledge and skills to make informed decisions and take appropriate actions to address their educational, social and reproductive health needs through its implementing partners by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with them.

Water, Hygiene and Sanitation: MITRA Samaj has a pool of infrastructure development experts, social mobilizers and communication experts having decades of experiences in designing, implementing and monitoring and evaluating WASH program in remote districts of Nepal.

Gender Based Violence: MITRA Samaj in coordination with office of Prime Minister, Government of Nepal and support from The Asia Foundation supported to implement the campaign against Gender Based Violence. Under this programme MITRA Samaj developed a Public Service Announcement (PSA) on form of a Television Commercial (TVC) which visualized key issues concerned with gender based violence. Its audio sequence provided a Punch Line, Jingle and Signature Music, which simultaneously can be used for broadcasting via radio.

HIV/AIDS/STI Prevention: MITRA Samaj is working to increase the scope and breadth of HIV/AIDS prevention activities in Nepal through public and private sector mobilization. MITRA Samaj will be carrying out the activities to increase access to services through its partners.

Adolescent and Youth: MITRA Samaj supports activities for overall development of girls and boys by disseminating information on issues such as human sexuality, basic health care, family planning, girl trafficking, womens legal and human rights and relationships. Girls and boys are linked with non-formal education opportunities, including basic literacy training and are encouraged to participate in formal schooling.

Decentralization and good governance: MITRA Samaj realizes that inclusive development will not be achieved without effective decentralization at all level and good governance. To achieve results on overriding goals of decentralization and good governance, MITRA Samaj will build effective partnership with local community, their organization at different level and national stakeholders to implement a right based approach.

Food Security and Nutrition: MITRA Samaj has a pool of resource persons who have involved in the food security and nutrition program. Ensuring food security is an important aspects of ensuring nutrient of mother and child. MITRA Samaj is building its niche to build partnership and implement food security and nutrition program in food insecure districts of Nepal. The focus of MITRA Samaj is to work together with private and public sector partners for multi-sectoral approach to development issues by ensuring ownership of local bodies for sustainable development and quality of care in health programs.

MITRA Samaj, located in Panipokhari, Lazimpat, Kathmandu, have a well furnished office situated in its (2.5 floor) rented building duly equipped with all necessary office facilities computers, printers, power-point multimedia, intercom, vehicles, photo-copiers, motor-bikes, etc. It has access to 24-hour broadband internet services putting. MITRA Samaj has at its disposal adequate assets and resources, which can be effectively mobilised for different activities to be carried out.
