ISN New Head of Communities Tala Dowlatshahi joined the ISN as Head of Communities in January 2012. Prior to ISN, Tala served as the United Nations Bureau Chief for Talk Radio News Service. She has also worked with the United Nations in Geneva and New York. Tala will rejuvenate and expand the ISN partnership network as well as redevelop the ISN brand. She will also seek new ways to collaborate using online and social media content. ISN to Participate ISA Annual Convention 2012 On 1-4 April 2012 ISN's Adam Dempsey, Tala Dowlatshahi and Elias Blum will be at the International Studies Association (ISA) Convention 2012 in San Diego, California. The theme of the conference is "Power, Principles and Participation in the Global Information Age." The Convention draws universities, non-profit organizations, publishers and other businesses from across the globe, in addition to more than 5,000

Convention attendees. If you are at the convention feel free to stop by the ISN booth. ISN New Partnership Coordinator As of February 2012, Debbie Kaithan-Lopez is taking over the management responsibilities of the partnership network from Sara Gerber who will be on maternity leave until July 2012. Please contact Debbie with any issues, ideas and concerns that you might have with regard to your partnership with the ISN. Your appointed ISN editor continues to be the main point of contact for all content-related matters.

SDA Organizes Security Jam The Security & Defence Agenda (SDA) and IBM, on 19-23 March 2012, will partner with other organizations to bring together thousands of global security stakeholders to collectively define the solutions to pressing security issues. The most innovative recommendations will be presented to the NATO and EU leaderships ahead of the May 2012 Chicago summits. Please log on to Security Jam website to register for this unique event. GCSP SMI Launches Publication in Washington DC The Geneva Centre for Security Policy's (GCSP) Security Management Initiative (SMI), on 23 February 2012, will present the main points and implications of its policy paper "Can you get sued? Legal liability of international humanitarian aid agencies towards their staff", by Edward Kemp and Maarten Merkelbach. International Crisis Group Seeks Analyst, Ethiopia and Eritrea The International Crisis Group is seeking an Analyst, Ethiopia and Eritrea . Based in Nairobi, Kenya, the successful candidate will research and produce reports on security, conflict, local politics, governance, social and development issues, analyzing long and short-term challenges to stabilization, security and development in Ethiopia and Eritrea, and recommending measures to achieve these goals. FPRI Presents Seventh Weekend-Long Conference for Teachers The Foreign Policy Research Institute's (FPRI) Wachman Center, in association with the First Division Museum at Cantigny, is proud to be presenting their seventh weekend-long conference for teachers on subjects in military history. On 21-22 April 2012, they will be focusing on great battles and how they have shaped American history. The conference will feature the leading scholars and practitioners on the subject. NAI Invites Applications for Researchers The Nordic Africa Institute (NAI) invites applications for two positions as researchers. The researchers will conduct research with a focus on North Africa and southern Africa respectively from April 2012 to March 2013. The researchers will be part of NAI's reseach cluster for conflict, security and democratic transformation and should prove a research interest within the cluster. Stratfor Re-Launches Website After Security Breach On 10 January 2012, Stratfor, a leading provider of geopolitical analysis, relaunched its website. It is an important step forward as the company responds to the cyber attacks that hit Stratfor in late 2011.
