Removing the side covers:


Preparation: First remove the ribbon tray and back cover before proceeding. Removing the right cover Step 1. Remove the two screws on the bottom of the right cover as shown. Fig.5 Step 2.Two screws are removed from the inside of the unit as shown. Fig.6, 7 Step 3. Re-install by reversing the steps above.

2. Removing the paper tray


The paper tray may be drawn out as far as the stop position. The following steps are used when the tray is to be completely removed:
Step 1. Draw out the paper tray in front. Fig.10 Step 2. Remove the front cover of the paper tray. Fig.10 (Note) There are two screws on both the left and right sides of the back cover. Step 3. Remove the screws on the left and right fixed shafts. Fig.11 Step 4. Pull the two shafts forward. Fig.12 Step 5. Remove the tray by pulling it up and out from behind. Fig.13 Step 6. Re-installation is accomplished by reversing the above steps.

The installation of the paper tray is set in the following method. Left-right side cover and rear cover are removed.

Note:
Ensure that the pins located at the rear of the paper tray are seated firmly into the holes located on each shaft. Failure to do so will result in the paper tray not opening properly. Fig.14 Paper tray rear

3. Replacing the print head and adjustment.


(Note) Be sure to turn off the power and let the unit cool for about 5 minutes before touching the head. 3-1. Replacing the print head.
Step 1. Remove the two fixed screws from the print head. Fig.18, 19 Step 2. Remove the three connectors from the print head. Fig.20 Step 3. The replacement head is installed by reversing the above steps. (Note) Use caution when removing the connectors. (Note) Do not remove the metal plate attached to the print head. This plate is used to set the print heads height. Fig.21

3-2. Adjustment
Resistance is indicated on the connector part. Print head voltage changes in this resistance. Fig.22 See Table-1: Input value around that resistance is inputted, it tunes exactly.

Step 4. It click on Save MC data and turns on DPB again. Fig.23 Step 5. MC data confirmed again. (HDVLT0900) Step 6. A sample image is printed and density confirmation is done. This operation is repeated and it tunes exactly. Step 7. When there is a densitometer, there is a density test image in the CD-ROM (file name test print D) of the accessories. (102: Gray density 0.850.05) Fig.26

4. Replacing the cutter unit


Preparation: Remove the ink ribbon tray and left side cover. Step 1. Remove the safety via its two screws. Fig.27 Step 2. Remove the two fixed screws of the cutter unit. Fig.28 Step 3. Remove the connector to the cutter unit. Fig.29 Step 4. The cutter unit may now be removed. Fig.29 Step 5. The new cutter unit is installed by reversing the above steps.

5. Modes for professional servicing


The following window is displayed when running the DL.EXE download program found on the PC in which the DPB printer driver has been installed. * There are two kinds of DL.EXE at present. Fig.31, Fig.32
ICON: DL.EXE
When two or more DPB have connected, the power supply of DPB to be used is turned ON. Other DPB turn off.

When two or more DPB have connects, it click on Printer ID and ID number is specified.

(1) Confirming MC data change


1. Click the [Read MC data] button to see that the MC data has changed. (example: %MC09HDVLT0762 has changed to HDVLT0752) 2. Click the [Set MC data] button, type in HDVLT0752, and click the [OK] button. 3. Save with [Save MC data] and confirm with [Read MC data] Saving MC data 1. Click the button [Read MC data]. (2) Single test


Click the button [Single test] in the Fig.31, Fig.32 The movement of each department can be checked in this item. Fig.34

(3) Test print mode


To put the DPB into test mode, press both the Rewind key and Cut Key while turning on the power. Fig.35 Continue pressing the keys until DATA LED and ERROR LED are both lighted.

(4) The download method of a firmware.


Upgrade of a firmware is performed by exclusive file (Upgrade.exe file) Example: Upgrade firmware USB2.0 upgrade.exe file: 2002C3.exe USB1.1 upgrade.exe file: 1015C1.exe

2. A click of a [Download Execute] button starts download. Fig.38 * It cannot download when a USB type or a specification type differs from. 3. Wait until the message Download process complete appears in the [Message] field. Do not off power to the printer or the PC during the process. 4. Click the [Exit] button to close the download application. (Note 1) Close all other programs before using this application. (Note 2) Confirm that there are no errors or warnings before downloading. (Note 3) Momentarily turn off the power switch to the DPB after downloading.
