IEM was established in 1948 by Westinghouse Electric Corporation and Mexican investors. Today, it is one of the most
diversifed electrical industries in Mexico, and its part of GRUPO CONDUMEX, one of the biggest Mexican industrial groups.
Our mission is to manufacture electrical equipment in a cost efective manner, in order to deliver to the market
price-competitive products with the quality and service that satisfy our customers requirements.
IEM transformers are products designed, manufactured and tested in compliance with ANSI, EMA and IEC standards, as well
as some customer specifcations. Since 1995, IEM has been ISO-9001 certifed in recognition of the quality systems
implemented for the production of its multiple products.
IEM has manufactured power transformers shell form and core type since its inception in 1948, having produced
to date the equivalent of more than 65,000 MVA in shell type power transformers alone.

Power Transformers
Shell form-form ft transformers have a basic
construction in which the primary and second-
ary coils are surrounded by magnetic circuit. This
core and coil structure is built into a form-ft tank,
forming an integral unit of high strength.
Extra-high-voltage (EHV) transformers are a piv-
otal part of electrical power networks,
and shell type power transformers have
demonstrated their superior performance.
IEM applies its expertise, gained through more
than 50 years, in three crucial areas to ensure the
dependability of its shell type transformers: me-
chanical strength, thermal capability and dielec-
tric performance.

IEM mobile substations are designed and built as turn-key units that provide:
The ability to maintain the continuity of electrical service during emergencies or
un-planned outages.
Temporary service during planned substation maintenance.
Service during substation construction or expansion.
Superior mobility and fast installation.
The components of mobile IEM substations include: power transformers, core and shell type
up to 230 KV, breakers (HV & LV), tap changers, protection and communication equipment,
built in accordance with specifc customers needs.
The communication equipment installed in IEMs mobile substations can allow for the re-
mote monitoring of key data and metrics.

Power Transformers
IEM technology derives from the knowledge, expertise and
experience gained through more than 50 years of design and
manufacture of transformers, coupled with our past associations
with Westinghouse and ABB, that enriched IEM with the following:
Medium core type based on Westinghouse/Sharon-Muncie-Hamilton.
Large core type based on GE-Pittsfeld.
Shell type from Westinghouse-Muncie.
These technologies represent the sum of the best design techniques,
model testing and prototype development, resulting in a vast
population of transformers with proven feld
performance.
IEM continues to update its
technology through its own
R&D eforts, supported by
CIDEC Condumex R&D
Center supplemented
with domestic and international
external consultants, colleges
and universities and other
research institutions.
