Profile I landed my first job in the Film Industry as an Intern with General Television Network directly after graduating high school in 1990. After a year at GTN, I began working as a Production Assistant, where I gained knowledge of Film Production from the ground up. Over the next decade I worked my way up through Grip & Electric Departments learning the skills of the trade on hundreds of Commercials, Music Videos, and Corporate Productions. Over the last 5 years I have split my time between my work as a Gaffer and work as a Producer and in 2007 I became a Partner at Sovereign Creative, a full service Film & Digital Production company. My work has been well received and has garnered several awards, including: two Tellys, 3 Addys, two International Television Awards for Excellence, a Media Communications AssociationInternational Award, and an Emmy Nomination for my work on The Wealthy Barber for PBS. In 1999 I was instrumental in creating Jumpstarting the Motor City, a film promoting the City of Detroit. The film accompanied the Citys successful bid for Federal Empowerment Zone funding. President Clinton mentioned this film during his announcement speech as a Powerful and positive statement of Detroits rebirth In 2008 I was hired as the Lead Instructor for the Grip & Electric Department at the Motion Picture Institute. Skills -Proper Generator Operation and Power Distribution. -Experience with Tungsten, HMI, Fluorescent, LED, Helium Balloon Lights, Soft Sun and Lightning Strikes, as well as most other Lighting Instruments in use today. -Experience includes knowledge of proper rigging techniques and safety procedures. -Knowledgable about Camera Systems in use today, including Film, RED, HDCam, P2, XD-cam, and HDSLRs. -My experience has included hiring and running crews on a regular basis. I am familiar and proficient at all the required forms and paperwork involved in being a Department Head. -I enjoy my work, practice a solid work ethic, and continually strive to perfect my skills. -Teaching Grip & Electric Labs at the Motion Picture Institute gives me a unique view on the business as I am constantly challenged by my students to improve my own skills and understanding.
